On a scale of 1 to 5 we give working with Mark a 10. He is very particular of his work and that of the work of his contractors. We had heard of renovation nightmares, but had absolutely no problems at all. The team was curious, punctual, skilled and efficient. Our bathroom turned out better than we ever imagined.

Mark listened to what I wanted and figured out a way to make it work. He hired quality professionals to do tile, painting and plumbing. He figured out ways to make the costs of the job more reasonable.

Service went terribly bad. He took trim off bottom of floor when he put the sheet rock in. He did not remove the crown molding. During installation of the sheet rock he left part of it sticking out due to not removing crown molding. The biggest problem was when he cut the design around certain area he cut it to big and there was a half inch gap around the doors. He caulked it filing up a hole about a half inch wide. The caulking that he used could not be painted over. I brought in a home inspector and she stated that the caulking was wrong and could cause it to sink in and it did that exactly, due to him caulking that too wide it is not going to work. He brought his painters in and they painted only 45 minutes. I asked them to paint it a toasted almond color and they painted it white. I asked them to come back to finish painting and they stated that they were done and used the color that was left. I went to home depot and they stated that sheet rock needed to be painted over 3 times and primer used as well. I told Mark the owner and he stated that home depot were not painters and they did not know what they were talking about. I called him to inform him to check out the job and to fix the job. I even asked a architect and he asked why wasn't the crown molding taken down and the sheet rock cut wrong. I asked Mark to due the job again and pay me back for the paint job. He stated that I was "too picky". Mark stated that he would give me $500 for the paint and $150 was used for raw materials for the painting job. I have had many problems with their service I would not use him again.

"We performed this job in the manner in which the customer asked us to and to fit into the customer’s budget. He wanted ¼” drywall installed over paneling without removing trim to save cost. Everything, including the leaving of the crown moulding was pre-approved by the customer. We did remove and re-install the base trim. He was not willing to pay the additional cost for removing and re-installing the crown. The customer was not happy with the first color of paint he chose after it was applied and accused my painter of not doing the job correctly. My painter painted the walls again with a second color of the customer’s choosing at no extra charge as a courtesy. The customer was still not happy with the second color, but told my painter he would live with it. I have used these painters for over 6 years and they have been in business for over 25 years, with a very good reputation in the area! I have not had any serious complaints in these 6 years, and any issues were always handled promptly and to the customer’s satisfaction. It is not the painter’s responsibility to re-paint the room for free until the customer is happy with the color. I got a call the next day from customer saying he wanted his money back since the job was so terrible. He tried to find everything possibly wrong with the job, a drop here and there, a couple placed that needed another coat of paint, some caulking that was missed or that had shrunk in. I offered several times to fix any issues he pointed out but he refused, saying he didn’t want us back in his house, and again demanded his money back. As an offer of good faith I refunded him $500, the labor cost of the painting minus materials, since he was so unhappy and it was obvious I was not going to be able to satisfy him at that point. As a contractor it is sometimes very difficult to give a customer what they desire in a remodeling project at the price they are willing to pay, or that they can afford. Compromises have to be made if you want to cut cost. I have been in business for over 14 years with hundreds of very loyal and satisfied customers. I take a lot of pride in my workmanship and my other reviews, and other web sites, speak for themselves. I am not perfect and never claimed to be. I do high quality work; that is my customers expect, and as you can see by my other reviews I believe I do just that. I guess you can’t please everybody."

Mark was very professional, and easy to work with. He picked up and installed the interior doors (2 french and 1 traditional). The installation of these interior doors was mainly aesthetic, and knowing what I wanted to accomplish, he was able to do the installation as inexpensively as possible, while still doing a quality job. Additionally, Mark repaired our rotting door jams on 4 exterior doors. He replaced the bottom wood portion with a plastic, that blended perfectly with the existing frame and will last much longer than the wood portion we previously had. We also needed to have a portion of flashing on the outside of the house repaired, and he was able to refer someone to take care of that, whom we were also very pleased with. I will definitely utilize Mark's services in the future for our home maintenance needs.

Mr. Harbison called prior to coming to the house, as agreed. When he arrived, he got to work immediately. My driveway lights are located about 25 ft. above the driveway and, since I have vertigo problems, I cannot safely climb a ladder that tall. He changed the bulbs quickly. Since they were CFL bulbs, I asked him where I might safely dispose of them. He told me, correctly, that Lowe's would accept them. He has a minimum $50 per call charge, but since he felt that was too much for the work involved, he only charged me $25. In light of the dangers of my attempting to change these lights, I felt that was a fair price.

Harbison's Repair did a great job for my wife and I in putting up shelves in my master bedroom's closet that had totally falling down from the weight of clothes. This was the second time that Harbison's Repair had repaired closet shelves that had collapsed in my home. What I really appreciated was the fact that he took the time from his busy schedule to take care of my issue. His company had a much larger project that was paying them double digit thousands and they made the time to fix my closet repair. The owner said that he still wanted to make time to meet the needs of other customers despite having a more involved project that paid him more. For that we really appreciated it because most of our clothes were on the floor in our closet and we were in a bind to try to fix it ourselves.

Mark and his crew provided excellent services for a very reasonable price for me as I was preparing my home for resale. There were a number of updates needed such as new paint, hardware for kitchen and baths, repairing a door and cabinet front, carpet cleaning and kitchen counter refinishing. All repairs were completed promptly and professionally. I would highly recommend Mark for any form of home repairs needed - he is very courteous to deal with and conscientious in his work and follow up.

It was an involved project and he did a great job. He is very honest and doesn't overcharge. I don't remember the exact price he gave me but it was cheaper than another estimate that I got.

I had tried to install the exact same product, but as I read the directions on the manufactures box..it said to NOT USE WITH PLASTIC VALUES or Plastic drain hose....so I stopped..because thats what my toilet had..I called Mark..it was an emergency situation for me..he did explain he had to come my direction anyway to do something else.. he would be able to complete the job quickly..and so he did.....He bought or already had the same product that I had just returned to the store because the directions said to not use it..when I said to himand quot; why are you using that one/ the I have plastic tubes and hoses and the directions say not to use that on my typeand quot;...he said, and quot; this is what I use all the time, I don't read the directions I know what to doand quot;.......I crossed my arms and walked away so he could do his thing..I needed my toilet to work....he went to the truck to write up the order / invoice..he charged my $50.00
to me that was a bit high for what was done and time involved..he didn't give me the box it came in or the receipt showing he bought it..so if something went wrong with that one I'd be up Sh** creek again without it..I gave him a rather odd long look..paid him..I followed up a little later with an email and a phone call..and got no response..
Mark is a very knowledgeable and polite man and no doubt knows what hes doing, but for me he has priced himself out of a couple of jobs..I'm a divorced woman my father was a Master Carpenter and my ex husband was a home-builder and Re-modeler as well..So I learned a lot from both of them..I shared with Mark in my follow up email that, and quot; I was taught anytime someone prices a project high..its because they don't really want the joband quot;...
I wish I could afford his HIGH prices, but I live on a fixed income and try to do as many DIY projects as I can without paying someone..as I have always done in the past before moving to North Carolina..I just don't have the strength to do these jobs anymore or the tools....ANY BODY WANT TO BUY MY HOUSE??

"The valve Member is talking about is the Fluid Master 400 flush valve. I have installed hundreds of these over the past 25 years as have most plumbers I know. Nothing about her toilet was different than most in houses today. The $50 I charged her included the valve and labor. I'm sure if Member had called a plumber to come out on an emergency call to fix this problem the fee charged would have been much higher, I try no to take advantage, $50 is my minimum charge and I didn't even charge that since the parts were included! As for not leaving her the box or receipt, I buy these in bulk packs so there is no box. And as far as warranty, I warranty all my work for a minimum of a year, I handle the manufacture warranties for the parts I use. I have given Member estimates on several large jobs over the past three years, none of which have been completed as of the last time I was there aside from her own demolition of an old fence. She has complained my prices are too high, I feel my prices are fair as do most of my 600 plus loyal customers. I am not the cheapest in town and don't want to be! I charge a fair price for the quality work my customers deserve and expect from me. I guess you can't make everyone happy!"

I called Mark because I needed to have some repair work and updates done for a house I was getting ready to put on the market for sale. I needed a fresh new look. Mark and his team gave me by far the most reasonable quotes on the work needed which included repairs on window trim, closet doors, new carpet and pressure cleaning the exterior decking, brickwork and concrete which in total amounted to a large job. My house is nearly 20 years old and Mark and his crew made it look literally brand new with what they did. Mark was very prompt in giving me a quote and getting the work done and I knew I could trust him to handle it for me as I was already living out of town. Mark has worked for me on several occasions with different projects in the past ten years and has always done an excellent job for a reasonable cost. I know anyone calling him will be pleased with the results.

We have never met a team quite like them; punctual, honest, mild-mannered language, and EACH ONE did an even better job than we expected! The electrician, Tim Hill, went out of his way not take advantage of us financially - and he certainly could have! The painters were on time and meticulous; the GARAGE has the best paint job in our entire house, now! The folks who laid the floor were good, too, although a few hours late and did not call. However, the floor looks great! Mark Harbison transformed a very ugly garage into a beautiful, functional, and warm(insulated) classroom with a spacious storage closet for our son and daughter. Our only regret is that we failed to take a and quot;beforeand quot; picture so we could post it here beside an and quot;after.and quot; We will only call Mark Harbison for work like this in the future.
