This property management company lies and conducts business in a manner in order to deduct money from security deposits that are unjustified. They are thieves. They are preying on military service members because they are the biggest customer in this town and take advantage of people being deployed, moved, or discharged from the Marine Corps. The home was not ready for me to move in. There was mold all over the outside of the home. The yard was in terrible condition. There was mold in the fridge, the toilets, and the carpets were never professionally cleaned prior to me moving in. I also feel the home was rented under false advertising. I explained when I moved in I had 3 year orders to the area, but only contracted me with a year lease. I'm so grateful that happened now. Seven months into the lease the owners placed the home on the market for sale. The real estate agent said they had tried selling the house before but it didn't sell, indicating to me the MO was if it didn't sell in a couple months of being out of the mortgage, they placed back for a rental only to repeat this process once they have a renter in a contract. As a military service member, my work schedule may not allow be move at a 30 day notice and they would not allow me out of the lease to accommodate moving when my schedule would allow nor would they prorate my rent if I vacated early during my last 30 days in the house. The contract pretty much says anything that happens to the house your are responsible for, so don't bother to put in a work order with them as it will never be taken care of by their maintenance people. You are going to have to pay to fix it as if you owned the home. They charged me for a re-inspection fee of the home for two minor fixes that had to be done to the home after I moved out. BTW, the home is a short sale being sold "as is" so repairs were not required. I don't have proof, but I feel certain the repairs were not done, the charges were fraudulent and they pocketed the repair costs they charged me along with the $75 dollar re-inspection fee. The people at the office are rude, unprofessional, and not customer service oriented. They are not military friendly and their military clause is actually in violation of North Carolina Law. I would never recommend renting from this company and would never recommend doing business with them as a real estate company either.

Response from Hometown Property Management & Rentals
Tenant moved out on 5/31/16, repair/tenant responsible items completed on 6/3 and 6/10 and the property re-inspected to confirm repairs on 6/14/16. It is unfortunate the member states she does not feel the repairs were complete or be charged the re-inspect fee. However, repairs were noted therefore the home was not ready per Addendum B of her lease and re-inspection was performed to make sure noted repairs/tenant responsible items were completed and the file closed for that tenancy. I would also like to point out the member that vendors charge per job for time and materials.
