Josh helped get our car towed to their facility after the 2004 Honda Element had started slipping when driving and making a ton of noise. When it broke down, it wouldn't engage 1st gear or stay parked when in park. I thought the transmission had died and was prepared to pay for a rebuild and be without a vehicle for the duration. Instead he called and said that the axle had broken at the CV joint and that it would cost less than $400 to repair. They had the parts and had the vehicle repaired the same day. That was fantastic for a house with 2 teenage drivers that share that vehicle. My wife and daughter picked up her car and the repairman walked both of them through what was broken and what they did to fix it. My daughter appreciated that they talked her through what had gone wrong and what they did to fix it - rather than just assuming that she wouldn't care. Between the honest treatment and the customer care, I couldn't be happier with the result. Would absolutely bring any of our vehicles to them in the future. Top notch.

Twin Automotive is the best auto service company in Charlotte,. I have truly tried everyone in the last 23 years since i have been in Charlotte. I am a tough customer. I know just enough to drive an autoshop crazy. They are able to successfully diagnose the true issues and explain it to me so that I truly understand. They did my acura transmission 3 years ago and it runs like new. We had a very challenging suspension problem created by an inferior shop putting in cheap struts on my honda pilot. They figured it out. the owner Paul has been very patient with me taking the time to explain exactly what is going on. He has also saved me money several times telling me what someone else has done wrong and I need to get them to fix it. Bottomline: These guys are fair priced, knowledgeable and have earned my trust. I now go to know one else. Sometimes they take a little longer to fix something, but its because they are trying to do it right. Best shop in Charlotte.

Called Paul at Twin Automotive & Transmission this morning to inquire if they serviced the new FORD Closed system transmissions that don't have a dipstick. None of the chain transmission service centers or quickie oil change places will touch them...only will refer you to the dealer. Paul said to arrive between 3-4 pm today and he'll get me in and out.

Arrived at 3:30, got me right in and was out before 4:00. My bill was unbelievably low at $20 and the Mustang is back to good as new.

This was an unbelievable experience as not only was he fair and honest, but a real gentleman. This is almost unheard of in this day and age. Especially for transmission shops that, as a rule, are unethical and out and out crooks.

Paul is a second generation Transmission guru as his father, who still works 3-days a week, has been building transmissions for over 50 years. These guys can handle golden oldies form the 40's, 50's, & 60's to modern day 2016's with closed loop systems that require a special service machine and knowledge base to run it.

I not only got my transmission serviced today, but I also gained a friend!!


I would refer Twin Automotive & Transmission to anyone for any type of Transmission or general automotive general service

work on your car. I have a vintage Mustang collection and wouldn't hesitate to let Paul handle all the service work on them.

I'm the former President of the Carolina Regional Mustang Club, and having someone like Paul and Twin Auto & Trans. as a go-to for servicing 'our children' is peace of mind that is invaluable to real car guys & gals!

We brought the car in after paying another place to diagnose the problem and wanting to bill us over $1000 for the repairs. twin automotive took two days to determine the correct problem and did not charge us for the diagnosis. They fixed the problem for less than half what the other place was going to charge

Twin replaced this part a few months ago and it wad fine until it happened again. We dropped it off, I called a couple days later and they were starting on it. Called a day later and they had to call back to let me know. It was warranted and no cost replacement. That's good honest work. If I had a complaint it would be lack of proactive communication. But they have been fair, accurate, solid work and nice enough if a southerner can be patient with northerners. Seriously, pretty good people and as good as I've seen Monroe to Waxhaw to get it done quickly.

I was told the car would be done the following Tues, 8/7; but on Monday 8/6 got a call that one of the parts didn't come in on time and now it would be ready on Tuesday. Charlie called everyone he could to locate the part in Charlotte, but was unsuccessful. He was very apologetic. The car was done on Tues afternoon. I couldn't get the car on Tues, due to my schedule, but called to arrange to have it picked up by a friend and her husband the following day. Initially on Wed, I was told that if someone else picked up the car, I needed to pay with a cashier's check (they wouldn't accept a personal check-for obvious reasons!). If I were to pay using a credit/debit card, I would need to sign in person.
I was disappointed by this news. I received a call-back a couple of minutes later, from Diane, and was told that they would accept my debit card, without me being present, if I would fill out a credit card authorization form and fax it back to them with additional information they needed to process my card. It showed quick thinking on their part and an interest in giving me great customer service! I filled out the paperwork, faxed it back and got my car that afternoon, thanks to my 2 wonderful friends and the folks at Twin Transmission.

My clutch was slipping and and quot;chatteringand quot;. I was told I needed a replacement used transmission in addition to the clutch. I scheduled the repair at a time when I could be without a car for a few days. They did not complete the repairs on time. I had to rent a car for two days. They were not courteous when I asked them when I could expect my car to be complete. They agreed to cover the cost of the rental but when I received the final bill they inflated their estimated price of labor by the cost of the rental and then and quot;discountedand quot; my bill to cover the rental. A week later during an oil change I discovered they had ripped a boot during the transmission installation. They replaced the boot for me without charge. Four months later my clutch was slipping and chattering again. They replaced it over a holiday weekend for no charge. About a month after that during an oil change i discovered they had ripped another boot during installation. i did not bother asking them to replace it. 5 months after their second replacement of my clutch it is slipping and chattering again! I took it to another mechanic who believes a remanufactured clutch had been installed and the clutch was improperly adjusted during installation. I appreciate that they replaced the first ripped boot and the clutch under warranty without charge or complaint. However as I discovered after the second ripped boot, I wasn't doing myself any favors bringing the car back to them. Based on my car's performance less than a year down the road, I am doubting the transmission replacement was necessary because the car is behaving exactly the same and my new mechanic doesn't attribute it to transmission problems. And I'm out an additional $350 to get my clutch replaced with a new part and correctly adjusted this time. I chose them based on reviews and I sincerely regret giving them my business.

The transmission on our 2005 Nissan Pathfinder started having issues and we had it towed to Modern Nissan of Lake Norman. There was also a check engine light on prior to the transmission issue. They called us about 3 days later and told us the transmission, catalytic converter (cause of check engine light) and timing chain needed to be replaced - total estimated cost: about $8,000 ($5500 just for the transmission). They also tried to steer me toward trading it in. I told Nissan to stuff it and decided to get a second opinion .
After doing some research on the internet, I discovered this was a known issue where coolant leaks into the transmission and causes the transmission failure. Nissan had a class action lawsuit filed against them, but it would not help me because of the mileage on my Pathfinder.
After doing a search on Angie's List, I found Twin Automotive and based on the positive reviews, decided to give them a call. I talked to Paul (the owner), who was very much aware of the Nissan Pathfinder transmission issue. He gave me an immediate quote of $3295 and explained in great detail what caused the issue and what was necessary to fix it. I mentioned the catalytic converter and timing chain diagnosis as well. I decided to give him my business based on his knowledge of my specific issue.
Twin Automotive handled the towing from Modern Nissan, and Paul called me the following week with the diagnosis. He confirmed the transmission failure, the need for a catalytic converter replacement, but said that my timing chain did not need to be serviced at all!
Total estimate was around $3700. Quite an improvement over the 8K estimate by Modern Nissan. Also, this fell on the low end of what I had read other people had paid for Nissan Pathfinder transmission replacement on the internet. I agreed to do the needed services and also asked him to do an oil change. The service was completed as expected and they allowed us to apply a $200 coupon off of transmission repair - total cost about $3500. I couldn't be happier with the results.
I would recommend Twin Automotive for automotive services. If you have a Nissan with the coolant leak transmission issue - Paul is the guy to see!

My GMC truck transmission was not shifting gears and I took it to them to determine the extent of the problem. Within 24 hours, they had looked at the truck, called me with their discovery of the problem, and told me that the transmission itself was fine but that the sensors might just be dirty. They cleaned it up and installed one new part and I was back on the road within 24 hours! Great outcome, definitely!

I don't know how they did on the transmission because I haven't gotten my car back yet. My issue is that they advertise they will bring the car to you after the work is complete. My car has been done a little over a week and when I talked to them about it bringing it to me, they said I'd need to pick it up myself. I have no way to do that so I still have no idea how good they did on the transmission. I even offered to drive them back to the shop if they were willing to bring the car to me, but they have not been willing to cooperate.

I suspected my car's wheel bearings needed to be replaced, but due to the make/model of my vehicle and a lot of corrosion on the bolts, I was afraid to try the repair myself. I called Twin Automotive and they said they could get my car in that day.
I brought my car to them at noon, and it was diagnosed a few hours later. It was repaired by noon of the following day. They gave me an accurate estimate prior to doing the work and stayed true to their estimate. Afterwards, they were flexible with vehicle pick up arrangements. I haven't had any issues with the car since it was repaired.

I was told that the entire unit would have to be replaced at a price of $2200 with a lifetime warranty. I was told the vehicle would be ready in three days which was May 4, 2012 and that Twin Automotive would keep me updated on what was going on. Three days went by and no word from Twin Automotive so I called to inquire. I was then told it would be ready Monday, May 7, 2012. I picked the vehicle up on May 7, 2012, and the vehicle seemed to be running fine. Less than a month later, June 2, 2012, my vehicle began to have the same transmission problems again! I called Twin Automotive immediately on Monday, June 4, 2012 and was instructed to bring it back in Tuesday, June 5, 2012 and I did! I was told by Paul, whom by the way is very kind, upfront and honest, that a replacement unit would have to be put in the vehicle. Paul stated that it would be one to two days before he got the unit and that he would call me June 6, 2012 to let me know the status. In the meantime Paul instructed me to keep the vehicle so that I would have transportation until the new unit arrived which was fine and not an issue for me. June 6 and 7th went by with no word from Twin so I called on Friday, June 8th; I was told that Paul was out and would not be in until Monday, June 11th but I would receive a call from Twin on Monday when he returned. No one from Twin called on Monday, June 11th, so I called and was told that Paul would be in at 2-3pm and I should expect a call for an update; NO ONE CALLED BACK! I called Tuesday, June 12 and was told by the receptionist that the part would not be in until Friday, June 15th and was asked if I could bring the vehicle in Monday, June 18th. Well DUH, I had no choice but to bring it in Monday, $2200 later and considering my vehicle is stalling and the overdrive light is on again, creating a safety issue for myself and my family!!! This company has a HUGE HUGE HUGE issue with communicating with customers that have paid for unsatisfactory repairs! I would not be so upset if they would have kept me updated as they promised. When I call the receptionist is very nonchalant; it is borderline rude with the unsympathetic attitude she displays considering it the company is not meeting expectations. I am an unsatisfied customer and the problem is not resolved!

My son's 1999 Acura CL was having transmission issues. After researching the type of issues this type of vehicle had with transmissions, I began calling around to local shops to discuss potential issues and a repair. We took the vehicle to two different shops and got two different opinions. His vehicle did not make it to the third shop as the transmission failed, so he parked it in a local shopping center lot. I really wasn't comfortable with just two diagnosis, even though we have used one of the shops in the past. I decided to Google transmission repair shops in the area and found Twin Automotive. I was immediately impressed with the detail the site provided and read the reviews, which were equally as impressive. I also looked at the warranty provided on transmission work and couldn't believe they offer a 3yr/unlimited mileage warranty! I decided to visit Twin Automotive to look at the facility, meet the staff, and discuss the issue with the Acura transmission. When I stopped by, I was greeted warmly by the young lady behind the counter (I feel bad I don't remember her name) and got to speak with the owner, Paul. He told me about the issue with the transmissions in the car and that he would be happy to take a look and determine what needed to be done. When I told him it was broke down in a parking lot, Paul offered to use their free towing policy since it was within the free towing radius. I also mentioned that I saw a $200 off coupon on their website and he said he would honor that as well. The car was picked up that same day as promised and taken to the shop. I received a call from Paul the next day to let me know excatly what was wrong, how it happened, and the best course of action which was to rebuild the transmission.

Twin Automotive promised the car would be finished within a week. I received a call two days prior to promised completion date and was told the car would be another two days. Wow! I actually got a call ahead of time so we could make plans accordingly!! It wasn't a big deal as they seemed busy when the car came in and Paul assured me the car would be done. I received a call stating the car was ready on the new date promised and I took my son up there to pick it up. He test drove the car and everything was great! I spoke with Paul a bit more and he presented the invoice, which was excatly what the estimate read.

My wife and I are very impressed with Twin Automotive and have taken my daughter's Jeep there for a water pump replacement. I highly recommend the folks at Twin Automotive to anyone who needs automotive repair.

I went in for a transmission leak but they discovered water in transmission and suggested a used unit rather than rebuild due to age and condition of car. They installed used transmission I furnished, installed new radiator, hoses and fluids. They checked out the car and I have had no issues since. I would suggest and use them in the future. Just get a time for completion up front to avoid any misunderstanding and any potential issues.

I took our 2000 Chevy Astro to Twin Automotive after reading the positive reviews on Angie's List as I was still having problems following a transmission rebuild performed by another shop in town. While mechanics at the shop that did the original rebuild was too stupid to figure out what was wrong with the transmission they rebuilt, Twin Automotive quickly figured it out and fixed the problem. Turns out the torque converter was bad. Twin Automotive replaced the converter at a very reasonable price and the van runs perfectly now.
