It was not a great experience. The service turned out terrible, I would never recommend them. They moved 4 bedroom, living room, den, kitchen and basement. Their price was about average. The movers were professional, but some of the work was shoddy.
Description of Work: I used MBM. They did packing, moving and unpacking.

Two weeks before, a move of partial load of household goods from a storage unit was contracted with a deposit, for shipment on 7/15/2011. On 7/14/11, we were called by a driver at 4:30 pm to say that the movers would not be picking up our load as contracted. And they didn't know who would be picking it up but it would be between 8 and 10 am on 7/16/11. Calls all day 7/15/11 were made to answering machines or to personnel who gave us no confirmation of any specific pickup time. Even calls early on 7/16 were unanswered. Three hours waiting at the unit were unanswered. Late afternoon, I finally reached a customer service representative as he was leaving for the day who said a driver would call me "later." That happened at 7:15 pm, with the subcontracted moving crew arriving at 7:45pm and leaving at 12:15 am on a Saturday night. The moving crew, itself, was exceptional, taking particular care of our property and delivering it in a timely manner. For their work, I give the company a barely passing score.
Description of Work: The company was hired to move a partial load of household goods from a storage unit in Huntersville, NC to a home in O'Fallon, IL. While the moving crew FINALLY assigned to us showed up, they were EXCELLENT -- we cannot say enough good about them, The administration of the company, though, of the main company was terrible and verged on bait and switch, being unresponsive and reminding me that it was a non refundable deposit. Pricing was competitive and original sales pitch was good. HOWEVER, the movers did not show up at the appointed time and repeated calls to my "Personal Representative" and to Customer Service did not get any answers for 48 hours. The crew that finally appeared 48 hours after the appointed time with 30 minutes notice was a first confirmation of service. From there, the move went very well and brought up any failing score I would give the company.

I arranged for him to have the go deliver to American Moving and Storage. He refused to deliver. He did not show up at the appointed time. When he did show up, he claimed the company had been trying to contact me. I called MBM Moving, the operations manager thought, that the delivery had been handled. They then sent me a credit slip. I was disputing the charges, so they requested certified funds. I did not have these. I arranged the move to be paid on credit card. I contacted the broker and they contacted MBM and worked something out, so they would accept the CC payment. The main issue was the drive. He wasted everyones time for two days. Even after the payment was made, he still refused to deliver. He was unbelieveably obstinate. He eventually relented only after costing me considerable money. I had to pay American Moving and Storage for three men and 7 hours for waiting on the delivery.
Description of Work: They moved me from Gallup, NM to Broomfield, CO.

1. Our move was scheduled for 9/18. They let me know the day before that they "overbooked" and had to cancel our move that day, and reschedule for 9/19. 2. Instead of showing up at 8:00 AM as they were supposed to, the movers showed up around 2:00 PM. 3. When they did show up, the contract was written wrong. Ed Fahner had sold me a "cost will not exceed" move, but the papers where for something else. Ed (the sales guy) didn't answer his phone when we tried to straighten it out. 4. The movers were supposed to bring extra boxes and be prepared to help pack if necessary. They did not bring any boxes. 5. The movers were supposed to crate a couple of expensive mirrors. They didn't bring any crates with them. 6. Instead of having 4 movers as planned, only two showed up. I was closing (selling) on the house the next morning, so I had to get everything out that night. I had no choice but to work along side the movers and help them from 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM in order to get everything out of the house. Yes, that's nine hours of my time. I Then I had to drive to our new house in 3 hours away. 7. As part of the contract, there was a second pick up location at a storage facility. The movers were supposed to move the contents of 2 5x10 storage units. This did not happen. The truck didn't have enough room, and it was already 11:00 at night, so the movers did not more our two storage units. 8. The next day, the movers were supposed to arrive at our new house at 8:00 AM. Again, they did not arrive until after 2:00 PM. Again, it took me helping the movers from 3:00 to 11:00 to get all of our stuff unloaded. Another 8 hours of my time! 9. I called Ed Farhner (MBM sales rep) repeatedly on Sat, Sun, and Monday and he would not return any of my phone calls. 10. I called the customer support phone number on Sunday to talk to somebody. I was on hold for 20 minutes. Spoke to somebody, they put me on hold, then sent me to somebody's else voice mail without warning. Nobody called me back. 11. Since I worked all day unloading the moving truck, and we didn't finish until 11:00 PM, I didn't have much time to look over all of our things to see what was damaged. I only noticed a few things, and put them on the inventory sheet. We have found several other things since then. Our high chair was completely broken, and most of our nice pieces of furniture sustained scratches and dents. 12. I filed a claim form for the damaged furniture on 9/27. I have checked back regularly with the claims department, (Kim Hensley) and they have yet to send me a settlement offer and will not commit to a date to which they will provide one. It's been over six weeks at this point. To reiterate, this has been a terrible experience from start to finish. We now have lots of broken, chipped and scratched furniture and after six weeks, MBM still refuses to provide a date as to which they will send a settlement offer. I also had to move the two 5x10 storage units myself at additional cost.
Description of Work: Moving the contents of our house and two storage units from Charlotte NC, to Waynesville NC.

There were things that happened that I wish that didn't but this company tried hard to make things right. They sent some one to repair a damaged cabinet who did a fabulous job. They did arrive late, but they worked so hard till the job was done that I cannot complain. I have moved and never had everything go right, but it was easy to work with the company.
Description of Work: We had this company move our household and store our things for a month.
