Future Clients, this review is a total misrepresentation of what happened with this client. Although my response is long, I felt it important to include every correspondence between this client and myself during this time to illuminate what actually happened. You can rest assured by our almost 600 reviews with an A rating that you will receive a great service from Oak City Home Services. Mr. [Member Name Removed], This happened almost 8 months ago, and you do not remember what happened correctly. Everything is recorded in the emails that we sent back and forth at that time. First, you made a purchase through Angie's List on June 24, 2015. We sent a message through Angie's List in response to you purchase the following day. On Friday, June 26, at 9:07 pm, you sent an email directly to me, not through Angie's List, confirming your service address, phone number, and email, as requested. The following day, Saturday, June 27 at 4pm, I sent an email to you that stated: "Thank you for considering Oak City Home Services! The information that I have for [Member Information Removed] states that it is 3,300 sqft. At that size the cost for gutter cleaning is $105, and there is an additional $52 charge if your home has gutter covers. We can schedule as early as next week if you like. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to go ahead and schedule. Thank you!". I did not receive a response from you until Sunday, July 5 when I received a voicemail from your wife stating that you had not received a response from me. That evening I sent a follow up email stating that I received the voicemail from your wife, but that I had in fact, as evidenced by our email thread, sent an email letting you know when I was available to schedule an appointment for you. I also let you know at that time that I was now scheduled 2 weeks out from the date of your phone call. The following day, Monday, July 6, at 12:42 pm, I received an email from a new address, your wife's email address, stating, "My husband has told me this morning that you are working two weeks out. Because we sent you this email almost two weeks ago, could you kindly arrange to clean our gutters this week?". My response minutes later, "I hope this finds you well! Thank you for getting back with me so quickly today! Unfortunately I am completely booked until the week of July 20. I understand your frustration, and the inconvenience. However, your email was sent at 9 pm Friday, June 26. Despite not working over the weekends, I emailed you back at 4 pm the following day to schedule and had not received an email in response. I would love to get you scheduled asap, but that will have to be the week of the 20th unless someone in your area cancels. I really do apologize for the inconvenience and hope that we can get this scheduled. Thank you!". You responded the same day, at 7:45 pm (2 hours after my office hours have ended), stating, "Thank you for responding. My husband said he called you on a Saturday and at that time you said you were returning from a job, could not talk, but would call him back. He never got a return phone call. Nevertheless, let us see if we can schedule this asap. What is the first time you have the week of Jun 20th? We need to come up with a mutually agreed upon time very quickly." My office hours are clearly marked, all over the internet, as Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. As a small business owner, I reserve the right to choose what days I work and what days I do not. If we get really busy I may choose to work the occasional Saturday, but as a rule we are closed. When your husband called on Saturday, June 27 I was unable to call back later, as intended, so I sent an email that same day instead. Again, this all occurred outside of the office hours that we have listed on Angie's List and all over the internet. I later replied, "Good morning! I tried working with a few clients to fit you in sooner, but unfortunately I did not have any luck. The first day I have in your area is Wednesday, July 22. Remember, you do not need to be home for the service to be completed. Please let me know if this ok. Thank you!". Your response, "Yes, that is ok, but I would like to be here when you come. I have a meeting scheduled all afternoon, so would appreciate your coming in the morning." My response, minutes later, "Absolutely!". Please note, that you simply stated that you needed a morning appointment (9am-12am in accordance with our hours) but nothing else. At 10 am on the day of our scheduled appointment I received this email, "I have now checked every Angie's list email for the past 3 weeks and there is (in bold underlined font) NO email from you changing the time. I stayed home from work today to be here when you came. please refund our money as soon as possible. why are we not happy? poor interactions.. You told my husband on a Saturday you could not talk with him because you were returning from a job. Then you told me you responded to an email from us on a Saturday, even though you said you did not work on the weekend. Then you said you sent an email we did not receive. It is not in our inbox and I have checked twice. too many excuses. It has now been one month since we contacted you to clean the gutters.". We didn't just not show up as your review states, you canceled the service. Mind you, this was at 10 am, which is still in the morning. You did not request a specific time for your service, nor did I give you a specific time for your service. You simply stated that you needed a morning appointment because you need to be gone all afternoon. We had you scheduled that morning before your canceled the appointment. Also, I will reiterate, our office hours are clearly set for Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. If I choose to make an exception one week, as a business owner, I have the right to do that. However, that does not bind me to then do that for every week moving forward. But even beyond that, I contacted you via email that same day. You say that you did not receive that email, but I have copied and pasted it above and I showed it to you during our correspondence back in June and July of 2015. Lastly, you made a purchase through Angie's List not through Oak City Home Services. When you purchase a deal through Angie's List it is their responsibility to handle any refunds, not ours. -Michael Hall
