Transport King was such as life saver. At the last minute, they received my request to move from Charlotte to Chicago. My items arrived perfectly in order. What ever they disassembled, they reassembled upon delivery. I will definitely refer them to additional customers that are moving up my way. Thanks again Jason and staff.
Description of Work: We hired Transport King to move a two bedroom townhouse from Charlotte, NC to Chicago, IL.

It was one of the worst experiences with a business that one could have. First of all, we were told that the items would arrive on January 4th. I made sure to be home the entire day and they didn't show up. I called the number that we were given, and were told that they would arrive the next day. They did arrive on January 5th in the morning. After they moved most of the things into my house, the movers handed me a broken leg from my father's desk. I was shocked to see it was broken. It had obviously split near the top where the screws were. I asked them what happened and was told that the leg broke off when they flipped the desk over. They thought perhaps that it could be screwed back in. I was doubtful. After they got the three legged desk into the house, they asked me if I needed the bed put together right then. I said no because my father wasn't moving into his new facility for a couple of days, and my husband would be home to make sure it was done securely for him. They then asked me if I had been contacted about the screws, and I said no. They informed me that the screws to the bed had been left behind in Charlotte, but they would be mailed immediately to me. I said great because we needed them to move him in a few days. Dismayed, I called the company later that day to ask about the desk and also confirm about the screws. I was informed that the movers (who had actually moved the desk) had misinformed me about the desk. They didn't break it, it was already broken when they got there. Somehow, the desk had been standing on the broken leg. The desk was nearly new (bought in August), and I had personally inspected it in October when I visited my father. There is no way it could have been standing on the broken leg. Also, I told him that we would need the screws to the bed as soon as possible because my father would have to move soon. Mr. King, the owner, said that he would mail them to me right away. I was under the impression that he was going to touch base with the movers to clarify what happened to the desk. This phone call occurred on January 5th. Throughout the week of January 9th, I called twice and left messages for the company for an update on the screws. I never received a call back. On January 14th, I called once and left a message. Then I called again an hour later (I was moving my father that day), and finally got Mr. King again. He insisted that the screws had been mailed, but he had no tracking number or proof of this. This is surprising considering the urgency of the need. Also, we talked about the desk, and he reiterated that it was broken at the time, and that he had notes to this effect. These were notes that were given to him by the movers because he was not present at the move. He has never seen the desk or the leg. I told him that I had seen the desk in October, and had inspected it to make sure it was a good quality item that we had purchased for my dad. It was fine then. I offered to send him pictures of the broken leg. He declined. At that time I also mentioned to him that the items were poorly packed and a few had broken in transport. They had packed a DVD player in a piece of luggage with no protection! My father's glass award for 38 years of service was broken because they had thrown it in the luggage with the DVD player. Mr. King claimed that packing was not included in the bill. I told him that my brother (who booked the gig) says that packing was included, and he suggested that my brother call him (Mr. King, owner) since my brother is technically the client. Well, my brother has called several times and only gotten voicemail. His calls have also not been returned. They appear to be avoiding both my brother and me. As it stands, we have a broken desk, a bed without screws that is unusable, and other broken items. Mr. King has made no suggestion of compensating us for this in any way. His only suggestions were that we take a piece of the bed to Lowe's and ask them what size screws that we need in order to buy what we need, and that I try to glue the leg back together. Regarding the desk, I have tried to glue the leg back together using the appropriate glue and clamping it according to instructions, and the leg still didn't hold up the desk. This way of running a business is questionable at best. I would highly recommend that you steer clear of this company that refuses to take any responsibility for the quality of its work, is dishonest about its practices, and is unresponsive to customers. The first photo shows the leg as it was handed to me. The second photo shows the part that remained in the desk with the screws jutting out. The third photo is after I attempted to glue the leg back together, clamped it for 24 hours, then attempted to right the desk. The glue didn't stick, so my husband took the receiving end out of the desk. Looking at how it is broken, it is easy to see that it was twisted when someone tried to flip the desk over and thus broke it, leaving part of the leg in the desk. Since they didn't bother to empty the desk, it's not surprising the the balance was uneven when they flipped it, and the leg broke.
Description of Work: We needed for my father's things to be packed and shipped from his assisted living facility in Charlotte and moved to our home in Chicago. It was one room that included a desk and a bed. They also were supposed to pack his things into boxes that were there and bring those along. The items filled about 3/4 of a small truck.
