Someone was supposed to show up between 8am and noon. At 12:30pm I left the house for a 1pm meeting. At 1:30pm someone from Paul Quick Inc. called to say that they were at my house. I told him I waited all morning but finally had to leave for a meeting at work. I told him we would have to reschedule the appointment. He seemed rather upset with me and told me that Paul would have to call me and reschedule the appointment. No one ever called.
Description of Work: Made an appointment to have a bathroom exhaust fan installed.

This is the second project Paul has done for us and once again we found him very capable and dependable. He did an excellent job and completed the work within his quoted time frame. We highly recommend Paul and find his overall knowledge of general contracting and repair excellent.
Description of Work: Paul and crew opened wall and installed double doors. They first removed built in cabinets then opened wall and installed new header with minimal damage to remaining wall. They moved electrical outlets, phone line, sound system outlet. They installed door frame and hung doors. They repaired and prepped walls to paint ready.
Paul and his crew did a great job. Everything was done well and nothing in the house was damaged in the process. The whole job took about 5 hours. I have used Paul three times before and he always does a great job.
Description of Work: Paul came and repaired grout cracks in 4 bathrooms and the kitchen, repaired two wall cracks, several nail pops and holes, replaced two broken patio tiles, replaced an over cabinet light, re-stretched a closet carpet, repaired a terrible floor squeak, repaired a door squeak, adjusted a door that was sticking, repaired a disposal switch, and regrouted some patio tile, and installed a missing cabinet drawer pull.

It went really well and I was glad I chose to move the door and have it hung correctly. He did a good job and was on time and cleaned up after himself.
Description of Work: The work was to move a door and door frame over a few inches. He had to remove the door, cut a new frame space and patch the location where it had been. Then rehang the door and repair the drywall and mud the seams. It was in a laundry room and the new washer and dryer were a few inches too big for the space and the cost of moving the door outweighed returning the new washer and dryer. The door had been hung incorrectly anyway.

I called Paul Quick and informed him that someone had damaged my wooden mailbox post and I could not receive any mail. He immediately checked his schedule and informed me that he could come out that morning to replace the post. He completed the job and left an invoice in my new mailbox. I was really impressed with the urgent way he responded to my problem.
Description of Work: Paul removed the damaged post of my outside mailbox and replaced it with a new one. The old mail box post had to be pulled up. The new post was the same as the old one and Paul made sure that it was secured in the ground. He also reattached the new mailbox to the post.

After approving the estimate, a future start date was selected to allow Paul time to finish other projects. Paul and crew arrived as scheduled and continued working hard each day until the work was done as promised. Cleanup was done each evening even though they would be returning the next morning. Paul does not try to oversell you on anything. In fact, he will make suggestions on how you can save money where possible. On a previous visit, I had asked Paul to estimate the cost to repair a leak in a difficult area of my roof. Two previous roofers had suggested that it would be very expensive and I should go ahead and replace the roof. Paul was able to fix the leak in less than an hour. This should allow me to get several more years before replacing the roof.
Description of Work: Paul Quick Inc. did an excellent job repairing wood rot around several windows and doors including much of a complex front door surround. Several feet of facia and soffet boards were replaced under the garage roof. Several windows were re-glazed and a section of gutter that had been overflowing for several years was aligned and secured. All new construction wood was carefully primed, caulked and painted with matching paint that I provided. The repaired areas are virtually undetectable! Paul and his son take pride in their craftsmanship and it was evident in the work they did. My hobby is woodworking and I can appreciate the skill required to repair and replace the custom trim around my doors and windows!

Paul Quick and his associates were excellent from start to finish. Very professional and hard-working. His estimate was in the middle price range of three. His bill actually came to a bit less than estimate. He accepted no payments of any kind until work was completed and to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Replaced wood framing on dormers and siding on eaves with hardyplank. Painted hardyplank. Installed ceiling fan and 2 screen doors. Repaired bathroom ceiling (dry-board and plastering). Other small repairs.

Paul set an appointment time of 4:00. He was actually there about 10 minutes early. Paul came in, made an assessment of the door handle/lock situation. He was able to go out an get another handle/lock set,(standard size but he made it work with our door), match the lock set to the existing key and get it all completed in a timely manner. Actually no mess at all. We were very, very pleased with his service.
Description of Work: Replaced a door handle and lock set on our front door. The old set which had come apart was also an odd size (8 inches) because the door handle set that the builder used was a discontinued model.

Paul was busy, but made it a point to get out to see us, as soon as he could. We hired him on the spot, on a Friday and he began work on the following Tuesday. All of the work was finished in one day and the work was beyond our expectations. We also, had him quote other projects, that we plan to do in the next few months and will definitely use him!!
Description of Work: Paul was contracted to repair a tongue and groove ceiling on a screen porch, which was damaged by a roof leak. He salvaged as many of the boards as possible and replaced what was beyond repair. After repairing the boards, he seamed them with putty and sanded, so that we could paint or stain.

Paul and his sons are very nice and professional, and clean which is important when having work done while living in the house. They were extraordinarily prompt in getting the job done quickly. The ceramic tile looks terrific, and the overall job was done to my satisfaction although it wasn't flawless. They did not grout between the ceramic tile under the vanity, which creates a problem if we ever decide to change out the vanity. Also, the sink was installed a bit crooked. And the crown molding that was supposed to replace existing crown and match the crown in the rest of the house is extra-large. It was placed over the existing crown (rather than replaced), I assume to save time. None of these were deal killers and I will certainly call Paul again. I will just make sure to emphasize that I want the job quoted and completed with no skimping.
Description of Work: Paul and his sons did a basic update on a bathroom. Installed beadboard, replaced crown & baseboard, installed a new vanity (supplied by me), moved a light fixture, laid ceramic tile, and prepped drywall for painting. The quote initially included installing a new shower door (supplied by me), but we decided against that so Paul installed a ceiling fan on our front porch for the same price.

Mr. Quick on time and very professional. He did an excellent job and did so in short period of time.
Description of Work: Switched out microwave over my range and put up a chandelier in my dining room.
I called for an estimate and he came by within a day or two. He provided a fairly detailed estimate within a couple of days, which also included electrical work, and broke it down by projects. I had other contractors bid on the projects and Paul's estimate was very reasonable. He estimated 2 days for the work, whereas another contractor estimated twice that time and double the cost. The exterior wall work and both sets of doors were installed on the first day, as well as most of the stud in of the walls. Work was completed on the second day and both days the job site was cleaned up. Very good craftsmanship. Walls were assembled on the ground with studs nailed from the top and bottom of the wall rather than toeing in place. Walls were then positioned into place with concrete anchors. Had to have a building permit pulled because of electrical work that was being done after the wall stud-in. The electrical permit could not be issued until a building permit was issued.
Description of Work: Remove 3 panel window set in basement wall, cut through wall and concrete foundation, frame in for double door, install double door and re-side outside entryway. Stud in 3 walls of basement. Remove swing-in patio door and install swing-out door. Both sets of doors were purchased by owner.

Paul was very good about arriving when he said he would and didn't mind being delayed several times because other contractors hadn't finished their jobs. However, a screw had broken inside the banister when it was removed, and Paul said he could not remove the broken end of the screw, so when he put the banister back up, it was crooked. My husband then took the banister apart, removed the broken screw and straightened it up. So Paul could have worked harder to get the banister looking like it had originally, but I guess he decided it was too much trouble. He and his son had already spent two hours drilling the holes and putting the spindles back [and repaired two of the spindles by gluing them], so I think he decided he'd had enough.
Description of Work: Paul and his son re-installed a staircase that had been removed because the stairs were being converted from carpeting to hardwood flooring. He drilled holes into the new hardwood stairs, put the spindles back in the correct order, then put the banister back on top. Paul had to fiddle with the bottom step a bit because Ogle's Hardwood Flooring had replaced it with a different-sized one and that would have thrown the re-installation off if Paul hadn't realized the problem and corrected it.
