A-1 JANITORIAL SUPPLY & EQUIPMENT INC & THE VACUUM

We brought our Dyson in for repair because the motor was generating heat and the suction was reduced. When we dropped it off, we explained that we wanted that repaired and the cord, which had been damaged, replaced. We got a call the next day that it was ready. We were surprised by the quick service, but when we picked it up, we realized that they had simply cleaned it -- not repaired it. We brought it back. We had had a positive experience with this business a couple of years ago when they repaired another vacuum cleaner, and so we were surprised by this poor experience. When we were told to come pick it up again, the suction issues were corrected, but the cord wasn't replaced. The reviews of this business elsewhere suggest that the quality of customer service and work has declined dramatically. I would agree with that.

This was probably the worst repair experience we've had, for many reasons. 
It took them 3 weeks to complete the repair. When we dropped off the vacuum we were told it would take 1week, when we called back on the 8th day after not hearing anything we were informed the part "had been ordered yesterday" and it would be another week. Two weeks later it was finally done and with a surprise $10 charge. Surprise because the handle repair was covered under warranty. When my husband questioned the charge, the man behind the desk gestured at another guy who said the vacuum brush needed cleaning as it was "not running" due to this.
They basically cleaned the hair from the brushes in the head of the vacuum. We used the vacuum just before we took it in. It worked, aside from manually holding in place the broken handle, but the brush was doing what it was supposed to do. It did not warrant cleaning and definitely wasn't causing the vacuum "not to run". It was frankly laughable what they were suggesting. Regardless, they should in the very least have called and asked permission first before doing work they charge for and is unrelated to the warranty repair. 
At that point my husband simply wanted to be done with them and take the vacuum (3 weeks without a vacuum in the summer!) so paid and left. 
The vacuum works, but I'm not sure it's worth it to use them when they are untimely, unprofessional, and charge for things without asking first that are completely unrelated not to mention unnecessary.

They found the problem and called to get my okay for the repair.  (The electrical cord for the rug cleaner had become frayed and didn't work anymore.) One thing they did that bothered me was that, when I dropped off the vacuum for repair,  they wouldn't give me an approximate date the cleaner would be ready. However, I was pleased that I ended up getting my repaired cleaner back six days after I dropped it off and at a very reasonable repair charge.  (I have horror stories I could tell about vacuum cleaner stores I've used for repairs.) I will do business with A-1 again.

I selected this provider from the yellow pages. The location was easy to find, and accessible (I am walking impared). I dropped off the vacuum, and expected to pick it up in a few days, but Ms. McIntyre, the owner, did the repair herself on the spot, while I waited. Service was quick and very friendly, as well as reasonably priced. In fact, it was noteworthy to me how other employees greeted and spoke with other customers and delivery people coming into the business -- this is a very friendly and pleasant business with which to deal. They carry a full line of janitorial supplies and equipment. I will do business with them again, and recommend them to my friends.
