Fantastic experience. Mr. Todd was extremely courteous on the phone and in person. He really took his time looking over every aspect of the garage door. He fixed what was necessary and did not try to make me purchase all sorts of things that I didn't need. It is obvious he takes great pride in his work and yet he gave me a great price! I will without a doubt recommend Sturdy Todd for any garage door needs!

I initially contacted Mr. Todd on Monday and confirmed with him on Tuesday that I wanted him to replace the garage door opener and add an outside keypad. He said that he could come on Wednesday morning. He called prior to coming to insure that the morning time was still convenient for me. He arrived promptly and completed the job very efficiently. He was very detailed in his explanations of the operation of the new equipment. In addition he was very thorough in removing the old equipment and packaging. I was very impressed with his professionalism.

I liked him very much. He is a sole proprieter; he does the work himself. He takes pride in his work. He had all the parts on his truck, so he didn't have to leave and come back. He took care of all of it in one call. When I called him, it was on a weekend. He was out of town. He returned my phone call early Monday morning; like 7:30 or 8:00, which was fine with me. He was able to get here very fast. I recommended him and a friend used him about a month ago.

At 6 AM the garage door would not open. Motor was trying, but stopped. I noticed that the door spring was broken so the motor sensed too much weight that why it had stopped. I called A-1 at 7:30 AM and left information with whom I assume was an answering service. At 7:45 am I received a call from Sturdy Todd; we discussed the diagnosis. He told me that he would be at our house by 11 AM, he arrived a bit earlier. He installed a new spring, adjusted the door, lubricated all the moving parts, tightened up some screws and the door is working well and amazingly quiet. Sturdy had given us an estimate of $ 175 less the $10 Angie's List discount and that was exactly what we paid. He was pleasant answered my questions and very tidy in his work and very professional. A terrific experience from start to finish !

My garage door came down on my car and they came here right away that morning. They were very responsive. They installed a new garage door and a new opener. The garage door opener wasn't working and it needed a new motor. They were extremely prompt and extremely thorough. The explained the mechanics of the door opener. They showed me how to check it every year and also how the sensor worked. They did a very good job.

He is good. He is very effective and very efficient. He is on time and reasonable.

They are prompt and courteous and they know what they are doing.

They did a very good job. It was not a simple problem but he got the job done. He had to go and get a part and came back right away to finish the job.

Overall - OK. Punctual, Responsive and Professional. If we need a new garage door, we will definately call him and others too.

They came in and fixed the garage door so fast I didn't know what hit me!!!!

Mr. Todd replaced our broken garage door. We opted to upgrade to a insulated door with upgraded hardware. While we paid a little more than we had hoped, we feel we will recoup some money in the end. This is the third time we have used A-1, and will have no problem using him again if the need arises. He is prompt, honest, well prepared, and neat.

They were very responsive to our call, came out and were one time. They inspected the door showed us the worn gears and even told us to keep the door opener we had for as long as possible as they never seem to wear out and are one of the best to have. We were very happy with the service and cost. They also made the door much quieter that it was prior to their arrival so it almost sounds belt driven vs chain driven. Amazing!! Would highly recommend them.

I accidently pushed my garage door button as I was backing out of the garage. The door came out of the track and wouldn't operate. I called A-1 Door Services at 12:00 pm and he promptly came out at 1:15 pm. It took him 10 minutes to get the door operating again and even lubricated the door (and my second garage door) free of charge as a courtesy. Sturdy Todd was very nice and professional. Entire job took 10 minutes. I was impressed with his quick response time as I could not leave my house with the garage door broken.

Was here in a few hours, explained what was wrong, finished in half an hour. Very polite and personable. Excellent overall experience.

Sturdy Todd quoted the approximate cost over the phone and came out a few days later to put on a new spring. The actual cost was the same. He gave me some pointers on how to keep the door lubricated and how other features of the door work or should work.

I noticed from the inside of my garage that I could see daylight at the side of the garage door. Since that had not previously been the case, I investigated, and found that one of the hinges which joins two panels and holds the roller that travels along the door track, had stripped out of the metal panel, and caused the metal of the panels to bend there. I thought that any further use would really destroy the door and called A-1 Door Services for repair based on other Angie's List reviews. I reached a real live person when I dialed the contact number and within 3 minutes was called back by Mr. Todd who scheduled to come within a range of time just a few hours later. He called again 10 minutes before arrival to let me know that he was on his way from his previous customer. Mr Todd evaluated the problem, gave me a price for the repair (just a small amount for the part above his service call fee) and explained why the problem occured and pointed out locations where the previous owner of the house had had the same problem and replaced the hinges with superior ones just as Mr. Todd did. That would have addressed the reason for my call and I would have paid him and thought we were done, but he also gave the door a check-up He evaluated the tension on the spring and showed me how the door was a heavy drag on the lift mechanism. He said that springs have a lifetime based on use and that based on the age of my house it might break when adjusted but that he recommended adjusting it. I asked if we should just replace it since it seemed to be old as such parts go and he turned down the opportunity to charge me a lot more money. He said that when it failed it would not do any damage and that he recommended waiting for it to fail before replacing it. Searching for the source of noisy opperation, he found that one of the bearings through which a rod turns, had frozen up and that rather than turning easily, the rod was dragging metal on metal with every opperation. He replaced the bearing. Finally he lubricated all the hinges and gave me instructions on how to do maintenance and why to spray the hinges but NOT to spray the rollers with lubricant. Now my garage door is functional, no longer eating itself into little metal shards, and QUIET! I would definitly use his service again and will recommend him to anyone with garage door problems. He is thorough bur does not overcharge or perform unnecessary work. He clearly is a service provider who makes his money from repeat business and the referals of happy customers.

They knew what they were doing and we were really satisfied with their work. They were very timely and responsive.

Excellent, Sturdy, the owner, came right out and not only installed the keypad he was hired to do, he voluntarily did maintenance on the doors. I have used him before and wish all contractors were this efficient, friendly and reasonable. He is just a very, very nice guy.

Overall it went very well. The company was prompt in getting back to us. The technician was at our house within 24 hours and quickly identified the cause of the problem. He quickly repaired the door and track. Even though this was our first experience with this type of problem we thought the price was very reasonable.

Sturdy Todd returned my call immediately and over the phone gave me several options of how I could proceed since I have a Wayne Dalton garage door and opener system. I tried then to deal with Wayne Dalton but they were completely unresponsive even to my message left on their emergency pager number. I called Sturdy Todd back and told him I wanted him to do the repair/replacement for me. He arrived within 90 min. and had all the correct parts with him. He used much higher quality parts than what was originally installed by Wayne Dalton and is now broken. He had completed the job within an hour of his arrival at my house. He was honest, professional, polite, and extremely competent. His price is completely fair and reasonable. What a find. GO STURDY ! Keep up the good work. I'll tell all my neighbors about Sturdy.
