This was a service purchased at a discount through Living Social, $65 for 1500 square feet (a $130 value). I have a 3800 square foot house and because of the floor plan I probably have about 2500 square feet on the bottom floor, 1300 upstairs. I asked her when I booked the appointment what the upcharge would be (doing just the first floor). She said $25 and that she hadn't been in business long enough to ask more. Because they were an hour late, the owner said they would give me a second free cleaning in the future. When they arrived and I showed her what I wanted cleaned she said she had no idea it was that big (actually two of the rooms are not even used and I told them they didn't need to do much of anything there. I also gave them other shortcuts.) I offered $50 instead of $25 and she said that would be fine. I asked her what the normal cleaning rate would be for the downstairs and she said $260 (which is twice what I usually pay for the entire house) because the organic supplies are expensive. After they cleaned the master bathroom and bedroom I discovered the organic solution had left the fiberglass shower stall very streaked and cloudy. The employee stood there and watched me clean it all over again with a commercial solution and never said a word--later the owner said I should have asked her to clean it. They neglected to clean my office and when I mentioned it the owner acted shocked that it would be included for the agreed price, but they did clean it. I had also asked that they clean the laundry room, which they did not, and I let it go. After much discussion about how I wanted my hardwood floors cleaned (I left it to their judgment) the owner said they would give them a good cleaning on their second visit. They didn't clean them with anything except the vacuum during this visit. Before they left we set an appointment for a second cleaning the day before a party I would be giving. They never called or showed up. In summary I feel like I overpaid, only had about half the work done that was agreed on, and didn't get particularly good cleaning of the balance. I was actually fine that they didn't come back for the second visit, but feel that there's an ethical issue there.
