+ -1 moreThey did a good job on the concrete and I paid extra for two coats of ceiling and they only did one coat. They said they did the next coat but they never did. I put something on the sidewalk and it was never moved. They didn’t complete the service so I would not use them again. I would tell some to monitor their steps when using them.

+ 0 moreThe only thing that I don't like about it and I don't know if it's the kind of concrete they used or what they did, but it always gives up dust. I was just sweeping in there today because we put it in our crawlspace. When I get some mud or something, I have to sweep it out and when I do, it continues to sweep off cement dust. It's not like in my garage where I have cement and we didn't seal our garage. I thought maybe it was just because it was new that it kept doing that, but it is continuing to do that. I think we have to seal it. I didn't seal my driveway and garage. I don't if it was how they finished or the kind of cement they used. It's not out in any weather, but it continues to be dusty. Generally, it was a good experience. I don't know what to compare it to with regards to price. They came out soon right after we called them. I think they are pretty good with regards to their professionalism. It was level. It was fine. It was just that the dust thing is annoying.
Description of Work: They did a 10 x 10 concrete patio but it's under the house so it's covered.

Description of Work: Vendor did not make initial appointment. Finally got a quote for the work and the vendor missed a very important element. When I bought this up she (Emily) stated it would increase cost by $2,000.00 when I got the quote it was and additional $3,500.00. I told her in Feb. I did not trust her and I would like a refund. They will not respond to phone calls, emails, or text. Spoke to Angie's List and was told someone would call me, that was two weeks ago. Good evening Lesa! + -1 moreI really wasn’t pleased. Every time I look at the work, I am irritated. I blame myself for not shopping harder and for trusting Angie's List. He was a nice guy trying to support his family. But the skills were not there. He was cool and always very courteous. The end result was not pretty. I am just frustrated with it. I would not recommend him. I paid additional for doing additional work. He was friendly and cordial. The price was reasonable if it was a great job. He has to reschedule a number of times. He was professional.

Description of Work: Nothing. I purchased this in May 2014. I had a couple of contacts with them trying to arrange a date for initial job site walk. I talked to him in early August via phone and, trying to be accomodating, I offered to let him set a convenient date the following week (when he would be in my area). Never heard back. I am still waiting for them to walk the job site and provide a final estimate so I can get this work done.

Description of Work: I purchased an "angie's deal" to have some concrete work done to expand my drive way and fix cracked walkway. The work I needed done exceeded the sq footage of the deal, so I agreed to pay the additional amount as well as have drive way power washed and sealed. He was prompt to come out and give the quote (in May), but I wanted to work done the July 4th weekend because I needed to move plant/landscaping in the area the driveway was going. He called the week before the agreed upon scheduled date informing me cement would be here the next day - a week earlier than the date we agreed upon. I had to work late into the evening to move the landscaping that I had planned to have done by the agreed upon date. He gave no reason except that he had the concrete scheduled. | |Then, on day of cement pour, I marked the are we had agreed upon - he said that was more sq footage than he quoted and he would not have enough cement.. YET, he poured huge piles of extra concrete in my backyard as if it was a dumping ground for the cement. I had to call to have him come back and pick up the cement frames as well as the agreed (and paid for) power washing. I have yet to have the drive way sealed - but gave up on that. | |Overall - quality of the job was good, but the professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. Would not use again.

The cost above was our final total, all said and done. Our house looks terrific, and we expect it will sell quickly due to Step by Step's expert efforts.
Description of Work: We were preparing our house for sale, and had a laundry list of items from a pre-listing inspection to go through, so I purchased a week of general contractor work from Angie's List for Step By Step.

+ -1 moreIt took a while for us to set up an appointment due to my work schedule. We got a date for 8:30 am on a Saturday morning. I called the vendor at 9:30 to see where they were. He said there was and emergency and he could come around in an hour. He then called back and said he could not come until early next week. I told him this was not acceptable and he hung up. I call "Emily" who was so nice and left her a message and she did not return my call. I spent $1,500.00 on this deal and the situation to date has not been resolved.

My experience has been that not hearing from a service provider up front foreshadows further communication problems, so I've opted to go with a more responsive company. I know that this is a busy time for contractors, but a quick email or call, even just to say that they will get back to you, is reasonable to expect.

+ -1 moreMade appointment for Saturday 7/5/14 at 2PM. Company did not show up and did not notify me they were not coming. Company phoned Monday and made appointment for Tuesday at 2PM which was kept. Measured for job which was larger than Angie's deal as expected. Quoted cement job, then added unexpected cost for "material delivery" not mentioned by Angie. Company listed things that would be done without extra cost that would otherwise be additional. I became uncomfortable with how often "additional costs" were mentioned. I felt rushed to commit and sign by both the company and by Angie. I did not feel that I was given enough time to evaluate the job by either party. I felt very uncomfortable.

Sent an e-mail to Emily Weidinger to see if they were still in business. No response. First meeting went very well. I am pleased with their professionalism and attention given towards my project. We will continue to work together through the completion of my project. I feel confident that we can work well together.

+ 0 more4/30/14 : I contacted Emily about an ad they had for concrete on Angies List. We scheduled an onsite inspection on where I wanted the driveway placed for 5/5/14 at 5:30pm. 5/5/14: Nobody showed up and no response to email or text 5/12/14: I was alerted they had a family emergency and sorry they missed the appointment 5/23/14: I rescheduled for them to return on 5/19/14 as I am home on Fridays 5/19/14:I received an email stating they stopped by and met with my wife at 7:30am and the price was $2400 instead of the $600 we spoke about. My wife had no idea I was even doing this. 5/21/14: COmpany confirmed the $2400 price and felt somethign was wrong as it differed from what we originally spoke about and they would stop by and flag so I could see. 5/29/14: They responded back to an email stating they would flag the next day I have never heard a response back to any more emails. It is extremely frustrating on how this worked out and that they just went silent. I guess the offer for the $600 was to get someone to call and then propose a much higher number and when I said no they quit responding. I hate to think that but it appears that is so. I attempted to contact as recent as yesterday with no response.
Description of Work: They were to stake the yard and confirm where a driveway pad was to be poured.

+ 2 moreFredy and his crew were wonderful to work with. They were able to start my project within a week from when we first spoke. Each morning they showed up on time and worked efficiently from 9-5. The tub and the tile work looks beautiful. They encountered some obstacles along the way, but were able to correct the issues on their own without bringing the project to a stand still. I would suggest giving Fredy and his crew an opportunity to earn your business before looking elsewhere. I know I already have some other projects in mind for Step by Step. Thank you for treating your customers well!

+ 0 moreFirst they did not respond or contact me within the first three days. I then received an email the following Monday that they would meet me there at 11:30 am. I responded back that I would meet them there. I showed up that Monday, the 8th @ 11:30am. They no called no showed. I called them, until finally the called me back. I met with them on the 12th of May at 7:30 am and they said that they would send someone to come out and flag the area that was going to be poured with concrete around 6:30 pm. No one ever came out that evening to flag the area. I had tried to contact them every day since that time. It wasn’t until May 29th that I was able to contact them, they gave me different excuses as to why the work won’t be done: A family emergency, that no concrete is being poured until June, and then now, those they don't even service my area.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal being offered by the service provider as a mother’s day gift. I was to have 100 yards of concrete patio laid down.

We received several quotes and he was the cheapest so we were skeptical of the quality of the work, however we were pleasantly surprised. He was excellent to deal with and they did quality work. I will continue to use Step by Step on some of my other upcoming projects.

He and an assistant completed the job, and cleaned up all the old wood, saving some pieces per my request. The job took about half a day, and we felt we had great value for the price.
