I called to get and estimate of what it would cost to move my belongings to my new home. I was quoted $124.00 per hour for 2 men and a truck. The soonest date they had available was about 3 weeks out. I accepted (August, 20, 2013). I mentally estimated and prepared for up to 3 hours ($372.00) as I did not need to move much (no major appliances, no dining or living room set, one bed, very little furniture and some boxes, and was only moving less than 7 miles away). I was told that they would be leaving their office at 8:am and arrive here shortly there after. They did, just after 8:15). One man came in and asked me to sign/initial the moving contract while relaying to me a summary of what it said. I did. Turns out I should have read the whole thing thoroughly, which I did not, being in the midst of packing/moving chaos. And it is true that in the chaos I didn't pay close enough attention to the fact that there were actually 3 men there: the guy who asked me to sign the papers made himself quite scarce, two other guys pretty much did all the work. That first guy did drive the truck..... To sum it up: the actual moving pair did their work pretty well, and in a timely manner...... but when it was all done (11:28), the first (driver/contract holding) guy came in and asked me to write a check for $640.00! It seemed like a lot. I was a bit frazzled and did it. I asked how long it took and he said 4 hours, (it was 3hours and 13 minutes from when they arrived until they left, figured they were adding driving time to and from, which was permissible) didn't stop to do the math at the moment, or read the contract (again) as I was in a hurry to get to work.... but realized shortly after they left that they charged me for 3 men and a truck at $160.00 per hour! Pretty dang sneaky in my opinion, especially since the 3rd guy was not needed! Unless neither of the other two had a driver's license....but if that was the case....that is still not my problem when I was given a quote of $124.00 per hour for two men and a truck! I plan to call them and give them a chance to remedy this...and will post back as to the results.....
