Took my 15 passenger delivery van in. Steering wheel was shimmying at medium speed.  I asked them to check the front end alignment, and rotate and balance the tires. Clerk who did vehicle intake was SURE it was the front end of the van. He wasn't optimistic about the solution to the problem, kept shaking his head saying, "well this sounds like the front end"... He treated me like I was an idiot,(because what do WOMEN know about these things....Got call from them after they examined vehicle. They told me my tires were 12 years old. (actually 7), full of dry rot, and needed to be replaced asap as they were falling apart.  The estimate to do this was almost $900.00 The tires, upon my visual inspection before taking it in to Firestone , had plenty of tread, and I couldn't identify any areas of dry rot. (This was the first thing I checked when the shimmy started). I insisted that they check the alignment, rotate/balance the tires. Sales clerk did everything he could to pressure me into buying 4 new tires. I kept insisting they balance and rotate the tires. They kept arguing with me until I got close to losing my temper.
Went to pick up van. They told me they balanced and rotated the tires, and that the alignment was ok.  I told them they were dishonest and predatory and that I wouldn't be back. They charged me $20
Took van to reputable tire place because shimmy was still there.  Asked for tire balance and rotation. Guy called me to say that the tires are fine, should last a couple more years. He said Firestone balanced the tires with weights already on the tire,  and also used 6 oz of weight when only 1 oz was required on 2 of the tires. Basically he told me they what they did was remove  the tires, throw them on the balancer  and keep adding weights. 
Please please please, DO NOT give this place your business.

I had an appointment and was still there for 3 hours! After tires were rotated, noise on the highway has been very loud.

My car had no problems until two months later when my anti-lock (ABS) break light came on.  I took my car into a more respected shop this time (Xpertech), and they took me into the garage and showed me the problem.  When Firestone replaced the lug nut, they cut out a piece of the anti-lock break system and glued it back with an epoxy.  This piece had came loose and damaged the anti-lock break system of my car in January when I needed it most.  I will never go to Firestone again.

Firestone at the Tunnel provided a better quality (second on Comsumer Reports list) for the same price as lesser quality tires. All ballancing, etc was done to me satisfaction as was the allignment. They were responsive to me and did not try to up-sell me on additional services. Kevin (the manager) was friendly and I felt welcome and well served.
