I visited their office on Friday, 719/13. I brought all the items they requested. The original person I spoke to was unavailable so another came out to the main office and asked if they could help me. I asked for this OTHER person and was told she was on the phone, could they help. She seemed a bit irritated, not sure why, so I advised that I wanted to bring my info so that a background could be done to see if I qualify for an unit. She said none of the info I brought was necessary. I asked what became of the info we submitted if we were not accepted, she says they destroy it. She seemed to get a bit kinder and offered the keys to the two apts. I viewed them, picked one, return the key and when I returned, the original person was available and now she was rude to me. She said that she could not process anything until I paid her the deposit check, the processing fee, and got the original papers SHE requested. I gave the docs and the processing fee of $20. I refused to give her a deposit, afraid that I would not get it back. GOOD THING. I checked with the landlord, she never called, I checked my DuNS, nothing requested. LIFELOCK alerts to any requests nothing done there either. I called and she said her this am. She said her boss was out and she could not "rifle" through her desk looking for the docs. She said she would call back. She did not, so I called this afternoon and now she is rude and says "I never said that your credit has been checked". I asked for my money back, she said NOPE. They keep them, no matter what. I asked again, even if you never checked the credit, she said YES. So it feels like they intentionally stall and keep your money. I find it interesting that she said to me on FRI, that I should leave a deposit ck, because there are so many people needing units that whoever has the deposit in first gets the unit. She should have refused to take my processing fee if she had no intention of conducting the background. I asked around and found that they are known for other devious behavior which I am not witness to and therefore will not repeat.
Description of Work: Provider was to complete background and call me with results so I could bring deposit ck to hold apt. The ad says no refund. It should say, even if we don't run the background we keep the money. Something to let the renter know that this company may or may not check credit and you just give them your money.
