Left cigarettes and debris all over. Pulled down hanging brackets from my home that I was using. Was very difficult to talk to once the work was "done" even though problems were very evident after first rain. 'Wouldn't recommend women deal with him. If it was a simple job they might have been okay. One roof line was not level. They did not address this before hand. They instead put gutters up that didn't drain and were very difficult to work with after the fact. The simple sections were done quite well. Complex matters and yard drainage were not considered. We were told" that's not our problem". If we needed further help, we would find it else where. Of the half dozen companies we have hired for work at our home, they were by far the most difficult to work with.
"This is an unfortunate situation. I tried multiple times to call on you and your husband so we could address the problem. Since you refused to speak with me on the phone, we finally had to resolve to text messaging. Even my history on Angie's List shows we have no problem dealing with both male and female customers or taking great care of them. As I tried to explain several times, old homes often have bad dips and sags where the footing and foundation have settled and we are not equipped to re-level old homes, we just install rain gutters. I did not hide the fact that we only install rain gutters and we did not offer home re-leveling services and I also recommended a professional who did yard drainage because your yard was in such poor condition. I did suggest that you have a professional company come in and re-level your garage but your husband told me you guys might have it torn down. I even gave the garage gutter to you at no additional cost; maybe you forgot that. What I did not do was ever mislead you or your husband in any way and I spent a lot of time at your home and on the phone trying to explain everything and get you contacts with good professionals that could help you. At the end, I even offered to remove all of them and give you a full refund, but when I finally got you on the phone, you told me everything was fine, not to worry about it and then you hung up on me. I am not sure what else I can do when you won't talk to us so we can attempt to resolve the problems. Our history here even shows we have no problems dealing with customers, problems or big jobs. I truly hate you feel this way. We have served the Memphis metro area since 1976 and I have never had a complaint with the BBB, but had you wrote a complaint to them, they would not give you a public platform to complain when you are not willing to participate in the solution. I really wish you would have dealt with us and allowed us to either fix the gutters or remove them completely. I stand behind everything our company installed for you. Brian Patterson Vice President/COO"

"Thanks so much for your positive review and kind words. After 39 years now in the Mid South, we rely on our customers and their personal referrals and we know how important that positive feedback is to our reputation. We really appreciate taking time to write a great review and should the need arise, please let us know if we can ever be of service again. Brian Patterson"
We are incredibly pleased. We interviewed several local companies and found the Angie's List entries and personal references for The Gutterman (Brian Patterson) to all be top-tier. Brian suggested replacing the gutters with the larger 6and quot; size, appropriate to the surface area of the roof. He also recommended adding a downspout in a particularly large area. He added drip-edge flashing where the roof and gutter met. And after seeing the many trees (pine and deciduous) surrounding the house, highly recommended and quot;Leaf Shelterand quot; gutter toppers.
When we did our research on the and quot;Leaf Shelterand quot; gutter toppers, we studied a bunch of options-- from much more expensive to some cheapies. Now that the install is complete and we've had some significant rain, we know that we chose well. The toppers are working perfectly with our pine needles and leaves.
I found Brian to be honest and knowledgeable. The Gutterman is a family business and they greatly care about the quality of their work and their reputation. The pricing was fair and similar to some others-- but now that the project is done, we feel that we got more for the money with The Gutterman than we would have with the others. They did some little things that made all the difference in giving us an excellent experience and finished product. For example, it took me several weeks to do my gutter research, and Brian patiently called and Emailed, answering all of my questions. There wasn't even the batting of and eye when I requested an insurance doc. And his references are impeccable. The installers were neat and fast. They used hidden hangers, special screws (no nails!) and lots of gutter sealant on the inside gutter ends-- really good work. We already have had some torrential rains. We thought for sure the water would sheet off the Leaf Shelter tops when it rained hard-- but no, works perfectly. And right now there are a ton of pine needles and seed pieces all over the roof and Leaf Shelter. To think that all of it would have been in the gutter by now if not for The Gutterman-- makes us cringe. The junk seems to just roll off the gutter tops with each subsequent rain.
Our 2nd floor has dormers so we can look out and see the gutter tops clearly-- really nice install from below and above! Our house has some unusual intricacies where the gutters had to wrap around some little secondary roof areas, as well as some roof lines at single story and others at double-story with the ground service on a severe slope. The installers were absolute pros operating securely and safely, often in pairs on side-by-side ladders holding the gutters between. Color-wise, Brian suggested an almond color for the gutters and downspouts to match our paint (which matches perfectly) and a dark brown for the Leaf Shelter to match the shingles (which makes the toppers look like they are an extension of the shingles when looking from the second story- nice!)
As mentioned, we added drip flashing to the bottom edge of the roof. It prevents water from getting back under that last shingle. This would have been a 'must have' up north from where we moved with ice damning, and we feel strongly that this will add a few extra years to our soffits/fascia with Memphis's somewhat tropical weather. Many of the gutter guys that gave us quotes really didn't have capability to custom-make the edging on-site, but The Gutterman did.
Their panel truck says and quot; The Guttermanand quot; on it with the logo, which to us legitimizes even more-so their business (in contrast to fellows showing up in an array of pick-up trucks). And all The Gutterman does is gutter work (though they will replace
soffit and fascia if they find there's a problem. So many of the gutter contractors that we interviewed have their primary business as roofers and do gutters on the 'side'. We appreciated The Gutterman's dedication to their focused business.
Anyway, a long-winded Angie's List entry to say, these guys are really good. We highly recommend The Gutterman!

Most of all, I’m just glad to have you as my customer… You’re the best!"
