Rick Thomas Concrete

Rick Thomas first came out to look at my job on 04/23/17. I wanted to have a sloping concrete front porch redone. He seemed to understand what needed to be done and was very personable. I got his proposal on 04/28/17 and emailed him about scheduling the job on 05/01/17. On 05/05/17 he replied that he was now booked thru August 2017. When I followed up with him on 06/26/17 he said he was booked for the remainder of 2017 and was not taking any more work. I replied saying that I would have had a better opinion of him and his company if he had just told me that he really was not interested in my job. He apologized and said that he definitely did want to do my job but that he had just over committed for work. Because his bid was attractive and I wasn't pressed to get the work done, I asked him to put me on his schedule for spring, 2018. When I followed up on 03/04/18, he made an appointment to come out and review the job. He twice asked to reschedule. After getting the run-around for a year, the second time that he wanted to reschedule I told him to just call me when he had a time when he was certain that he could show up. It is now about 3 months later and, of course, I have not heard from Mr. Thomas. I don't understand why contractors are reluctant to decline a job that they don't want. In this case, I delayed my project for a year while waiting for him and now I have to start over.
