Darrell McKay keeps constantly harassing us about this money. He will blow up your phone and emails with poorly written threats. He will claim to be from the city of St. Louis and will attempt to use extortion to get money from you. Do not use this contractor as he will cause you to face city fines, harass you, and cause your project to go over budget and be completed in an unsafe manner. McCay's contracting started the project in a very prompt manner. In his eagerness to get the project started, he did not follow the plans and rebuilt the a wall in an incorrect location. Also, the contractor said that he would be able to remove a load bearing wall and use a proper beam to correct this issue. Upon inspection of the work, it was found that the contractor did not use the proper beam. Also, he did not obtain the necessary permits. He kept telling us that since we were using him, he did not need permits. This later resulted in us having to deal with city fines. After no progress for months, the contractor then said we owed him money well above and beyond the original bid. Darrell never came to us to inform us that we were going to have to go over budget. He kept making up excuses about how he was staying late and that he had to buy special silicon to spray on the walls. As the owner, I never saw Darrell working late. I would drive by or stop at the house nightly to check progress and he would never be there and progress was not being made. We used a third party to professionally install the kitchen. However, due to Darrell's inexperience with plumbing we had to get the kitchen removed (including solid surface counter top) in order to get the plumbing brought up to code. After paying Darrell more than the original bid, we had to let him go for not finishing on time. At that time he claims that we owe him another $900 for spray silicon. We were never provided with a proposal or receipt for this material and labor. Also, there was no empty containers for this said stuff. ,The concrete job looks bad, SAGGING, Poarch repair not level, after he pulled away board to soon,it started to sag, he proped up board and shored it up, best he could. He didnt mix color to match, and it's cracking now. Then after many calls, he powewashed my walks & porch, WRONG, HE MISSED ALL THE MOLD ON SIDE WALK NEXT TO GARAGE, And only 1& DID A POOR JOB CLEANING THE POARCH, THERE WERE STAINS, WAX, STILL ON. HE TOOK ALL DAY, AS HIS FIRST WASHER DIDNT WORK, THEN HAD TO GET ANOTHER ONE, AFTER FIDDELING WITH IT FOR 2 HOURS, I HAD TO HELP HIM START IT, HE HAD NO SOAP,OR DEGREASER, JUST COLD WATER AND A JUNK PRESSURE WASHER. hE OFFERED TO FILL IN A SPOT OF CONCRETE NEXT TO MY HOUSE, $10, BUCKS. i HAVE CALLED ,MANY TIMES NO RETURN CALLS. aFTER I SEE HIS SLOPPY PAINTING JOB ON ,another customers house, he did, PAINT EVERYWARE, DIDNT SCRAPE OFF OLD PAINT,LOOKS LIKE DUNG. HE REMOVED the STORM WINDOWS, LAST YEAR ,AND JUST LEFT the customer HANGING. SLOPPY UNFINISHED JOB, PAINT ON SIDEWALK ON WINDOWS, & WALLS. And Now the windows are glued shut. NOT TO MENTION THE CONCREATE WORK ALONG the mans WALL ON SIDE WALK IS CRACKING ALREADY. tHIS MAN HIRES HIS KID & HIS KIDS FRIEND, TO DO WORK. iF THEY GET HURT ON YOUR PROPERTY, THEY CAN SUE YOU. aLWAYS USE A VERIFIED CONTRACTOR, LISENSE & INSURANCE & BONDING FOR ALL ON JOB SITE, Never use a jack of all trades and specialises in none. Sort of a Wantabe repair man. or a shade tree mechanic.
