I ended up calling the POLICE! First, BRIZCO FLOORING LLC and I never did agree on a price nor was I given anything in writing when the job was verbally bid.. We disagreed on the bid price. I said I would pay one amount, he argued he was worth a different amount. I told him I had one estimate for a similar amount but that was for doing all the porcelain flooring AWA the laminate and I had another one that was far lower for doing what he was quoting, the 8 or so tile in front of the doors and the laminate. We discussed this for some time and never reached an agreement. He simply said he would begin on Monday, return on Friday and left. At that time I assumed he had agreed to accept what I offered to pay. I had printed the instructions on the installation of the PERGO XP product and had read it several times AWA called PERGO. When BRIZCO FLOORING LLC showed up to bid the work and when they showed up to begin work I offered to share that with them along with information I had from the company I paid to give me an estimate and do a material list of what I would need to do the job. Based on that companies' estimate and home visit, the material was ordered and delivered to my home and stored in the LL for some weeks. I now had that company estimate, another companies estimate and was getting one from BRIZCO FLOORING LLC. Things started off OK. It wasn't too long tho when I noticed that the owner wasn't intending to install the product according to the PERGO RECOMMENDED specifications. First off the BRIZCO FLOORING LLC Owner/installer told his helper he didn't need to put down the rolls of plastic that I had. When I told him they had to be put down he looked aggravated with me. I told him the instructions said it was mandatory and should have an 8-12 inch overlay on the plastic so as act as a moisture barrier between the earth, the concrete and the product. I was alarmed that he was either ignorant of the product OR was trying to cut corners. Before any flooring was cut I inquired about the type of saw blade he planned to use and what he told me wasn't what PERGO recommended. I then told him I had purchased the blade they recommended and it was on our saw in our storage room and he could use it and that I preferred he at least use the blade. The blade cost about $43.00 but the regular blade could be purchased for about 10% of that cost or $5.00. I knew I wanted to follow PERGO'S guidelines as I didn't 't want to void the Product Warranty or have a poor installation job done. He used our saw, blade and power cord to do the job. When they left on Monday I was relieved but also alarmed he didn't know or care about what he was doing. I talked to him about all the bags of floor leveling compound that were going to need to go down in the 2nd room and he just ignored me and said that wouldn't be necessary. In the past he said he just used roofing shingles to level floors and he left for the day. I looked over his workmanship and a portion of it was OK., except the hallway where the leveler wasn't down when he started the job and it never got any put down and you could tell the difference when walking on the floor.and I made a note of the damaged areas I had concerns about as well. When they returned on Friday I pointed out the areas I was concerned about and he said he would fix them. I stayed downstairs all of Friday and started setting my husband's office up and listening and observing. Like on Monday, we shared small talk but when I told him it would be hours before he could install over the leveler he would have to put down, according to the leveling Manufacturer's and PERGO's specs, he looked angry and said there was no way he was using the leveler, that he didn't care what they said but that and quot;it wasn't necessaryand quot;! PERGO says there shouldn't be more than a 1/8 drop over a 4' area. We again disagreed. I then pointed out there was a drain in the floor in the 2nd room which he acted surprised to know and that the floor surely had a drop towards that drain. We talked/argued about this for some time and he took a level and crawled around the floor and in minutes said it was just fine. He did agree to put leveler around the drain area. He didn't read the instructions on the leveler and was mixing it using a wrong paddle on the end of a drill. Things had gone from bad to worse. He did whatever he wanted, and flew thru that rooms floor and it really shows. Towards the end of a 5.5 hour day he wound everything up and and quot;demandedand quot; I pay him in full immediately. The job wasn't finished and I was caught completely off guard. When I told him I wouldn't do that he walked way too close to me and again, louder, demanded I pay him in full. I again told him I would pay him part of it but that the work wasn't yet complete, I hadn't had a chance to examine it or walk on it and that I would pay him $1,100 of the $1,300 I had said I would pay. I reminded him I didn't have their Insurance information, a written estimate, a copy of the Warranty or a Lien Waiver. and he knew the job was not finished. He stormed outside and got on his phone and was shouting at someone. I went upstairs to get my checkbook and decided to pay him the $1,300, which I gave him a check for. By now I could feel how really angry he was. He screamed at me I would have all that paperwork any minute now and slammed out of the house. I had locked the upstairs doors and I then locked the downstairs doors. A half hour or so went by and I looked outside and was surprised to see he was gone or had moved his van. I looked out other windows and was then pretty sure he had left my property. Part of the paperwork was sent to me shortly. I went downstairs to start cleaning up and realized I was left with a mess. By 4:30 I realized there was damage I had missed seeing and sent him a text at 4:44 PM on Friday July 18 and we texted back and forth a few times. I started receiving text messages from him on 7/25 @ 9:38 am that were clearly both angry and I felt threatening. I called a friend who advised me to call the POLICE she knew I was now afraid of At 10:18 according to POLICE RECORDS I called the POLICE and OFFICER PINKHAM, BADGE # 4009 came to my home. The POLICE OFFICER talked to me at length. I gave the POLICE OFFICER a BRIZCO Flooring LLC Bs Card and he went outside and called them. The POLICE OFFICER came back in my home and gave me advice on what I should and could do and said he told Mr. BRIZCO (AKA Jearl Eugene BRIZENDINE), BRIXCO FLOORING LLC not to contact me again. We will see each other in Small Claims Court on September 3, 2014.

Response from Brizco Flooring LLC
After installing flooring for close to 30 years, this is the first time we have had an issue of this type. Basically this customer hired us at an agreed amount otherwise we would not have been inside her home doing her installation. She did purchase her own Pergo flooring in which we have installed thousands of times however, she stood over us reading the instructions and giving us details how to install every steps of the way, along with removing tools out of our hands to show us how it was to be done.. She also purchased the wrong baseboards( which was not in our quote) and wanted us to return to install them without paying us until this was done however we expected full payment at the completion of our quoted work. She refused to pay us and we were the ones that took her to small claims court, as she refused to pay for the agreed amount. We did everything possible to resolve this issue prior to going to court, to the point of offering to install her baseboards at no cost.

I came up with the idea to surprise my parents with a renovated porch on wednesday (they were out of town until monday). Found Brizco flooring on Home Advisors and they called me immediatley and met me at my parent's house within the hour. Were able to do the work on saturday. Took out the rest of the old carpet and installed the new that we purchased (and he picked up from store). Looks fantastic and they couldn't have been nicer or more professional. They are my new carpet installers from now on. Highly recommend and I am an interior designer.....
Description of Work: Removal of existing carpet and install of new. Picked up new carpet purchased by us to install.
