"Sorry for the miscommunication all phone calls and voicemails are tracked by Verizon wireless . We never received a call or voicemail to let us know when or if they wanted the work to be completed. We also have no e-mail record of them firing us."

"This is a good one: Marshall’s Lawn Service has never talked, emailed, texted, etc. to this member. After doing some research this member is the son of a customer that we did work for in the past. We talked to the customer (mother) and she wanted the same thing done as in the past. We quoted her the same price and scheduled the work. She was pleased with the work. After a number of months when the bill hadn’t been paid we talked to the mother several times and she said that her son was now in charge of paying for her finances and she gave us his address and also said she would call him. Several past due bills were sent to the son but never paid. Here’s the silver lining: Come to find out this member (son) wrote a review on March 7, 2012 with an A rating on the previous work, this time around we had the same crew, same work, and kept the price the same since she was a repeating customer. Is this a case where the son doesn’t want to spend his inheritance or just the lack of communication between son & mom? At any rate we are pleased that the customer (mother) was pleased with the work."
Things were different when I bought my own property and had a mess of a yard to renovate. That was last summer, when we had that terrible drought. I don't know what happened with Marshall's, but their work really went downhill. They overseeded the bare front yard, but what grew was mostly weeds. They didn't keep up with the mowing. At one point they didn't mow for 6 weeks, even though I tried to keep the yard watered and told them it needed mowing. I ended up with grass over my ankles and some weeds around 18 inches high. They asked if I wanted a grub treatment; I said yes; but they didn't do it, as shown in their billing.
My overall impression about last year was that they sort of gave up because of the drought. It seemed like they assumed my yard was dormant, like so many others, and didn't get the word that I was watering it. At any rate, I finally had had enough and hired a different lawn service.
"Second worse drought in history, 18" be-hide on rain, temperatures 100 degrees plus , yard doesn't have a sprinkler system, grass is burnt up, bare dirt showing. YES we stopped mowing until mother nature started raining again, Weeds in beds, she didn't PAY for bed maintenance, just mowing. Planting grass seed go in to a drought requires watering many times a day, If the grass seed sprouts or dries out it dies, that's the mother nature works,, its out of our control. The home owner has to water! , If not the seed will not germinate. Once again that falls on the home owner to water if mother nature doesn't !"

"[removed member name] wanted 10 shrubs trimmed and some pampas grass cut down (First time-day one), Fixed price X amount of dollars. [removed member name] called back and want 12 more shrubs trimmed and some roses cut back, 3 upright junipers removed and hauled away (Second time- different day), Twice as much work, there for twice or 200% higher price, When a home owner adds more work after any contractor gives them a fixed price, the additional work will effect there over all price. More additional work higher price."
