Great job

Technician was excellent. Very articulate, competent and trustworthy.....and a good craftsman. We called on a Saturday nightwhen we discovered that one of the torsion springs for our garage door had broken. Initially I called the garage door company that originally installed our garage door and services it. However, they were going to charge us a weekend trip fee of $300 so I told them to forget it.....and a few other comments. I was then going to wait until the following Monday morning to call them back and have a conversation with the owner....but decided to go ahead and do a "google search" using the keywords "broken garage door spring" and the first company listed was "garagedoorofkc.com". So I clicked on the link and called the 800 number listed. The gentlemen that answered the call said he had a serviceman in my area and could get him out to replace the broken torsion spring that evening. I asked where the company was located but he was somewhat evasive. I got the impression that he was sort of a "dispatcher" for all the calls that came in and then perhaps calling individual technicians (maybe independent contractors) to do the work. In any event, I didn't seem to want to answer the question "where are your offices?" I asked him if there was a trip fee and he hesitated....then said that they normally charge a $75 trip fee but offered to waive it. Within 30 minutes after talking with the "dispatcher", the technician called to say he was on his way. He arrived promptly and as I indicated in the preliminary review comments, did a great job. I give him as many stars as you can give. However, upon arriving, I showed him the problem (one of the torsion springs was broken) and, after looking over the entire garage mechanism, he quoted a price of over $700! I told him that the price was ridiculous and that I would just wait until Monday and call the guys we normally use and get what we needed done for $250 or less for quality parts.....then, as you can imagine, the numbers started dropping. As we talked, I sensed that that the technician was a good craftsman and probably was under the directive of the owner(s) to "highball". It was because I liked the technician that I went ahead and let him do the job for $375....much more than I would have paid had I waited until Monday and called the company we ordinarily use. The technician did a nice job and completed it promptly. So I am giving the company a "B" because they hired a quality technician...and because I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and use them again for maintenance, etc...but will, because of this experience, be much more vigilant of reasonable pricing for services.

They replaced the expansion springs, pulleys, cables, and rollers for a total charge, with tax, of $642.00. There is now a special on Angie's List to do the exact same thing for $250.00 from another company. The funny thing is that the invoice said that the charges should have been about $1,000.00 but I got a special bundling price. It is my fault for not checking out other companies, but as I said I couldn't get my car out of the garage. Live and learn.

The job was completed in less than 45 minutes. Aaron made sure the door was working properly and that I was satisfied with his work.

The garage door didn't work but one time after they "completed" the job. Now the garage won't open at all and my car is stuck inside. They refuse to send anyone out, although they were perfectly happy to rush someone out yesterday to take our money. They say now it's a warranty issue and someone 'may' be able to come out Tuesday or Wednesday. What kind of business doesn't stand behind their work?

We were very happy with Garage Door Services response time and work. Charlie called ahead to let us know his eta. He arrived on time and completed his evaluation and gave us the estimate within 20 minutes. Charlie completed the work in a timely manner. He remained congenial and professional throughout the process. Good job, Charlie. And thanks to Garage Door Services for taking care of my mess.

the work was completed in a very timely fashion and at my own suggestion and direction, he replaced the spring on the second garage door. we had discussed the age of the door/spring and based on information provided by the repair man, i decided that it should be replaced rather than wait for it to break.

No up front price. It was like buying a used car. I had to play the haggle game over the price. First quoted over 600.00. I want a job done and feel I didn't need to play the game on price. Sorry, for the people that they take advantage of on the first quoted price.

I had asked for the maintenance. However, the main reason I hired them was to replace the bottom seal on my garage doors. When I asked the technician about doing that, he said he didn't have the materials on his truck but could come back tomorrow. I was pretty frustrated. The technician tried really hard to get me to replace the springs, rollers, and other parts that did not need to be replaced. Very irritating. The only thing he did for the $78, that I could tell, was spray oil on my doors. When we discussed balancing the doors, etc., he said that he really couldn't do those things because of the condition of my wires. Ugh.

They were supposed to be here between 9-12 after waiting around all morning, they came after 1:30. They told us it was going to be $835 and that was because it was such a dangerous job and that people have gone to the ER when trying to do it themselves. We only had one spring broken and they replaced both without telling us we could replace one or offering lower price springs. When we called later after looking up how much it should have cost, they told us that the springs were 3-5 hundred each. I feel totally sick after seeing how much they overcharged us. They took advantage of their customer because my car was stuck in the garage and didn't have time to get someone else out. They also will not do a military discount on the over inflated price. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS!

They turned out well. They came in and got it done when they said they were going to get it done. It was kind of an emergency and they got here quickly and took care of it. It was expensive because they had to replace some springs. They didn't have the parts on the truck so they had to drive across state lines to the Missouri side since I'm on the Kansas side, got the parts and came back. I was pleased that they could get it done in one day.

They were very professional and did a good job. They explained what they were going to do, they did the job and was gone within an hour. It did not need anything much. They fixed the problem.

My husband and I are so glad with the new doors we have. Actually, I was quite skeptical with the kind of door my husband wanted but after seeing them finally installed, I loved them. I even called my husband to tell him they were done with the installation and that I love the new doors they have put up. The work was great and we were able to get the doors plus a new door opener on a price at a likeable price. The appointments that lead to the installation as well as the installation itself were done promptly and professionally. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them at all.
