They transferred all the files from my old machine to the new one. Everything works fine.
Description of Work: I took my iMac in after spilling a drink on the keypad. It was bad news, but they set me up with a new machine quickly and it works great.

I liked that they got it done. They told me that it would take seven days but they already called me today and told me that it was done. You can make an appointment so there is no waiting. If you have ever walked into one of those stores, you know it's crazy. You can make an appointment online, I walked passed the crowd and was helped immediately. That's what I like about it. I will absolutely continue to use them.
Description of Work: I took my computer to be repaired at Apple Store. They took my daughter's computer, ran a full diagnostic and made sure there was nothing wrong with it.

We bought an Apple macbook for our daughter who was starting college in August 2007. Although it was more expensive, since she would be over 1,000 miles from home, we purchased it through the school's computer program so she could have any problems solved locally and easily, even though the cost was probably $500 more than we would have paid for the same computer in Kansas City. The price included technical help from the school's computer office and 4 years of warranty, called AppleCare. Just before exams in late April, she noticed a large crack on the LCD screen. The school's tech office told her they could not help her and the computer had to be sent to Apple. They added that there would be a charge as Apple won't cover a cracked LCD screen. We decided to address the problem once she came home since she had no access to an Apple Store in Charlottesville (the closest being over 100 miles away) and a cracked screen was slightly better than no screen. She contacted Apple by phone and was told that her warranty would not cover the cracked screen. She then searched the problem online ("macbook LCD crack") where she quickly found dozens of nearly identical complaints about spontaneously cracked LCD screens. On May 14 we took the computer to the Kansas City Apple Store. My daughter was told by their "Genius Bar" technicians that she had to have caused the problem by putting pressure on the glass. When she said she absolutely did not, they suggested that perhaps her roommate did. The script used by the Apple technicians was close to identical to the other complaints we found online -- including the roommate accusation. My daughter swears that she carefully transporter her laptop in a heavy bag and worked mostly in an unairconditioned room. That was the extent of her abuse. She assures us that she has not dropped, bumped, sat on, or misused this laptop in any way. Apple says they will charge $755 for the repair. They further say that if we have it repaired by someone other than Apple, our AppleCare is immediately voided. We think Apple should cover the repair of this defect or give our daughter a new computer. We are convinced by the other online accounts that this is indeed a defect and not an accident.
Description of Work: We brought my daughter's laptop computer, Apple macbook, into the Apple Store to have a "genius" inspect the crack that spontaneously appeared on her LCD screen. The laptop, purchased through a program at her college in August 2007, had a 4-year warranty (called AppleCare). We were told that the warranty did not cover accidental damage and that Apple would repair the screen for $755.
