Demolition started an hour later than the time they said they would arrive. They left their tools and debris all over the house. They did not cover the doorways to other rooms with plastic sheeting as they had said they would so everything was covered with plaster dust and debris. They did NOT put down a tarp or other protective mat for the carpeting in the living room which they had to go through to get to the bathroom. I had asked for specific things to be added to the remodeled bathroom; all were in agreement that they could and would do them. After they finished tiling the walls in the bathroom i asked where the recessions were for the soap and shampoo. They informed me they could not do that. They were late every day they came to work; during my project they took other jobs so they couldnt be here every day to complete my bathroom. Only 1-2 showed up at a time instead of the 4-5 man crew. They left trash all over the front yard where they were doing the saw work. There was plaster and debris dropped down the heating vent, they covered it with the vent. I had to ask them to remove it. They took the 50 year old vent cover to see if it could be sanded and painted and never returned it even after i asked for it. One of the cabinet doors hangs crooked and will not close. I had to repeatedly remind them to finish the inside of some 'cubby' cabinets. They did not replace the escutcheon around the water inlet to the toilet. They drilled holes in the wall to install the towel bar IN THE WRONG PLACE and then suggested an alternative to the place i wanted it. The backsplash was to be 3x3 tiles (12inch) and they made it 3.75x4. The light bar over the medicine cabinet does not hug the wall, it sticks out away from the surface because they did not allow for the wiring to be concealed. They were to texture the walls in the living room and the dining room. We cleared the room of furniture and accessories. This was to be a one day job; instead they arrived LATE again and told me they could NOT get done in one day so they would have to return the next day when i was at work. When i arrived home the texturing was not consistent on any of the walls in the two rooms. there are large areas of hardly any texture patterns and others where it appears they just held the 'gun' in one place. i complained and again, while i was gone, they came with two cans of aerosol texture and made zigzag lines in the sparse areas and a straight line in another. they did not protect the baseboards or trimwork when texturing so now all that has to be cleaned up. They dumped a can of paint into the air return for the heat/air. they 'pieced in' the sheet rock on a main wall in the bathroom. when i asked them to correct it i was told it needed to be that way because of some pipe in the wall. there were 18 screws in a 22" section at the edge of the sheet which literally chewed the side of the sheet up, there were bits falling off the wall. They used a 4x4 foot section and then a 6"x18" piece between it and another larger piece of sheet rock. At the light switch they cut the hole too large so they pieced in a smaller piece. I demanded they redo the sheetrock which they did AT MY EXPENSE. the flooring i chose was a floating floor of 3' long sections of vinyl with glue strips along the edges to connect one to the next one. they put it down on old glue, the floor 'creaks' with each step. they left a nail head under the flooring. i asked them to fix it, so they hit it with a hammer. i demanded they pull up the flooring and get it out before it punched through. they pulled it up removed part of the nail head and did NOT secure the flooring to the floor again. I had a 20-25 item punch list. they would mark them off but never did them. After they left i repainted most of the trim because i could still see raw wood through the one coat they used. These were all very nice guys; i dont think they have any 'finishing experience'. it seems they can attempt any job but not do it well.
Description of Work: Main bathroom of single family dwelling was to be gutted and completely redone. Job was to take between 7-10 days.
