The doors worked for awhile. We then went on vacation for approximately three weeks returning on 9/2/2012. Upon return both doors were sticking again and not closing or opening properly. I called back to Oyler Construction Company on 9/4/2012 and was told they would be by at the end of the week. That never happened. I called back two weeks later on 9/18/2012 and was told he was going to have to charge me again for the job that was not done correctly to begin with. He claimed the house moved. I would think a professional would have taken that into consideration to begin with before attempting any repair. .
Description of Work: Two bedroom doors were not closing properly. The frame was adjusted, the doors were shaved a little and doors were repainted with paint I already possessed. Called back a few weeks later because one of the doors were sticking again. A nail was driven into the lower part of the frame. Nothing else. .

Response from Oyler Construction Company
On May 11, 2012 my company, Oyler Construction LLC, satisfactorily completed a bathroom remodel for Member. He then contacted me again in July to work on two doors which would not close properly. The bedroom door frame was of out of square and strike side of frame was out of plumb, owner said she had to bum it with her him to get it open and closed. Additionally, the door stop was installed at an angle that had warped the door. The office door was dragging on the top of the header of the frame and on the strike side of the jamb. The reason the doors were in this condition was due to settling of the house. The repair: pulled hinges with longer screws, adjusted the frames, shot nails to hold, hand sanded the top corner of one door, filled nail holes, painted jambs, installed new knob and strike on bedroom door (the new knob/strike was done for free). At the time my company performed the work, Member was informed that the reason the doors were not working properly was because of settling that was occurring in the home. There were cracks by the fireplace in the room adjacent to the areas that I worked on the doors. This is more proof that the house is settling. Additionally, this year has been particularly bad for settling due to the severe drought that we have been experiencing. Couple that with the large amount of rain we received in one day after having no rain for 59 days and you have even more problems with settling. I discussed with him that he needed to water around the foundation to help decrease settling issues. The job was completed July 10th. Member then called me approximately one month later around August 7th stating he was again having trouble with the bedroom door sticking. I went back; the bedroom door was dragging at the lower edge of the strike side. I installed a 3 inch screw to hold the jamb over. When I left, the door was working properly. This was done free of charge. Member contacted me again another month later approximately September 4th and wanted me to work on the doors again for free. I was busy on a job when he called me and I told hmi I would call him back. I did neglect to call him back. I simply forgot. He then called me back a few weeks later, approximately September 18th. He was rude, he started the conversation with, “it’s been 2 weeks since you said you would be here”. He was advised that I would come back however I would have to get something for my time. I also informed him yet again this was caused by movement. Member then stated, “I’ll get somebody else to work on it, I feel like I’ve already paid for it” and he hung up on me. I called him back in approximately 5 minutes however he didn’t really want to talk to me. I never heard from Member again. Incidentally, he must have thought I did good work as he referred me to his son. My company completed a bathroom remodel for his son, on August 7th, 2012.
