Very professional and on-time. The owner, Brandon, was reliable and knowledgable. It is evident that the communication between Brandon and his staff and crew is excellent. They were all very helpful.

These guys set the standard for professionalism and quality of work. Before we agreed to a contract they presented me with a copy of the most complete and comprehensive Scope of Work I've ever seen from a contractor. The SOW outlined all work to be performed on each section of the ceilings and walls, and it had the pricing broken down by each section. If I wanted to add or delete work from the SOW I would know exactly how much the cost would be. All work was completed on time and the results are impressive. You can't tell that they replaced the two sections of the ceiling where the mold was removed. They applied textured (popcorn) paint to two repaired areas and spray-painted all of the ceiling areas in the entry foyer and hallway. Everything looks perfect! I understand that Midwest Restoration Technologies also does other repair work. I would definitely ask these guys for a quote for other work around my home.
Description of Work: Removed area of ceiling containing mold growth, replaced ceiling drywall, applied textured paint (popcorn) to repaired ceiling area, repainted walls and ceiling areas stained by water leakage. Made repairs to roof flashing to prevent rainwater from entering the attic area above the affected ceiling areas.

I liked that they are knowledgeable and are willing to keep me informed about what's going on. I wanted to change the design as we were going along if I see things that need changed then and they also make recommendations. They are prompt as that is important and they will be here when they say they are going to be here. They leave by 4.30 and leave the area clean. They are willing o spend time informing you so that you know exactly what you are getting that is vital. They didn't just say they are doing and they kept me informed. They spend a lot of time doing that.

From the first contact, I was impressed with Brandon 's thorough evaluation of our water and mold removal needs. He provided a detailed bid covering the scope of work they would do to restore our lower level to normal. He also was very observant and noted other repairs that we needed done in our house and we hired MRT to do those repairs as well. His team was efficient, on time, and wonderful to work with. I think they are a company that goes the extra mile to give excellent service and I would highly recommend them. I will certainly call them for any restoration work I might need in the future!
Description of Work: MRT provided mold remediation and repair of water damage in the lower level of our house. The scope of work covered mold inspection and lab testing, cleaning mold using containment and proper remediation protocol, removing drywall, texturing soffit, and painting, cleaning and replacing carpet, moving furniture, door and lock replacement, and removing debris.

They did exactly what they said they would do and the best part was that I did not have to talk with the insurance company at all. MRT took care of everything. In the first few weeks as they were removing and air scrubbing the mold issue, it was unbelievable the amount of protection they ensured was done for the rest of the home to avoid any cross contamination. Following that, they began the replacement process. While they contracted out for most of this work, I was able to meet with some of the contractors and discuss what I wanted. They used a great company to refinish my cabinets that I love! The new wood floors are beautiful, yet there has been some soft spots that have developed over time. MRT has come to fix and reinforce all the soft spots through the subfloor and it is great. They helped me to put in a few upgrades as a good price. I put all new carpet in the house (as we had to replace some of the carpet) and also replaced the sliding glass door with a large window and door to have a french door appearance. The challenge was that I purchased the door and window at a rehab store and I did not know what a problem that would cause because there wasn't any framing. MRT explained the difference and sucessfully built framing for both items. My only complaint about this is that at the bottom, under the threshold, there is still the track for the sliding glass door that was there. I didn't even notice it until I was installing a storm door on the outside. I was very pleased with the outcome and them completing the work when they said they would. Another great bonus is that they stand behind their work and will make repairs to any issues (such as my wood floors) for as long as I own the house.
Description of Work: In 2010, a house I was purchasing flooded prior to closing. The water had been present for several weeks and caused damage on most of the main floor and the entire basement. I called many contractors and when MRT came, they were a life saver! They were the ONLY company that cared about the water having been present for so long and suggested mold testing and showed me the toxic mold in the basement that had been growing. NONE of the other contractors even considered whether there was mold. After testing results were positive for toxic mold, the contamination removal and renovations began.

As I stated earlier, Brandon only did the estimate for us, but we'd recommend using MRT!
Description of Work: I met with Brandon for an estimate when our shower tiles had popped loose from the wall and mold was growing behind them. We'd had an independent testing company come in and do an air quality test, and after that came back high, I contacted Brandon for an estimate. He was great, very friendly, and his estimate ended up being less than the other company we got a quote from. We ended up going with them, because they portrayed themselves to be more of a "one-stop shop" than they actually ended up being. In retrospect, I would have gone with MRT and had them do the work. Even after we had chosen the other company, I contacted Brandon to let him know I really regretted our choice. He wrote back quickly and was very kind and gracious. If you have a mold issue, I'd recommend that you contact them for an estimate!

I had suspected that our lone shower may have been leaking behind the wall. Because I don't even want to mess around with mold in my home, I called MRT as a proactive response to my concerns. The immediate and kind responsiveness of their team, from secretary to technician, is the definition of professionalism. Brandon came out to my home and performed a walk through, listening to me and discussing with me the conditions for which they would be concerned. Fortunately, my case was small and easily correctable by me, and did not warrant further action. I would have been satisfied with Brandon's technical advise had he just stopped there. But he didn't, because I can tell he and his team are in this for the right reasons. He took several more minutes as we finished up to help me understand some more helpful home-ownership tips for preventative maintenance; from preventing breeding grounds for mold to improving indoor air quality. He didn't try to sell me any additional services, but understood that, as a first-time homeowner, I was really just needing some guidance...and I more than appreciated that! I will recommend to anyone, based on professionalism, and would call back if I ever needed them.

George from Midwest Technologies helped us from start to finish. We discovered mold growing in our closet from a leaky pipe from behind the walls and ceiling. He assured us from the beginning that everything would be resolved and the mold would be completely remediated. He was always available for questions. Very professional and knowledgable. He took care of the removal of the moldy drywall and started the mold remediation process right away. He contacted the plumbing company United Plumbing and took care of everything for us. He and his guys came in and protected our hardwood flooring in the entry to ensure no stratches or messes while plumbing work was done. Both the secretary and George have been very nice and helpful through this process. The only thing I was dissappointed in was, there were basement boards that could have very easily been placed back up but this was not included in the initial scope, it was a seperate charge just to nail our boards and trim back up in the basement. .
Description of Work: Mold removal from ceiling dry wall of closet, air scrubber was used for 2 days to remove mold spores in hall way area. Ceiling in hallway was removed to gain access for plumbers to replace piping, and replaced with texture. Boards were removed in basement for mold removal.

I found what I thought was mold in my home one evening, so I called Midwest Restoration Technologies early the next morning. The call was professionally answered by a young woman who took a message and said Brandon would be calling me. Brandon called within a few hours and scheduled an appointment that afternoon. When he inspected the damage, he immediately determined it was not mold and gave me his opinion of what had caused the damage (termites - yuk). Although I need to get a pest control company out to confirm Brandon's suspicions, at least my mind was put to ease that I didn't have a mold problem lurking in my walls. I offered to pay for the service call, but he declined. I will definitely call this company if I ever need any of the services they offer.

Originally, I contacted him for an estimate. But due to some tenant issue, I was not able to schedule him in. Nevertheless, Brandon continues to help me through the phone, which I deeply appreicated.
Description of Work: I've talked to Brandon many times on the phone and just can't believe how professional and helpful he was. When I called him, he knew I already worked with a different company. But he still did not mind answer my questions and give me his professional expertise. I'm truly impressed. I felt that he truly cares about people's problem and not just money. Also, his advise was right on. Thanks so much.

This was by far the most positive experience I have ever had with a service company in terms of responsiveness, professionalism, thoroughness and cost. Water from a sprinkler had been hitting the seam between stone work and the wood frame in front of my garage. The caulking there had deteriorated causing water to enter. I noticed a small amount what appeared to be black mold at the seam in one place and was concerned there was more behind the wall. I didn't know who to call so I checked Angie's List and came up with Midwest Restoration Technologies who were very highly rated I called Midwest Restoration Technologies on Wednesday 10/5/11 and spoke to Nicole the office manager. She said she would check with the guys out in the field and find out when they could come to my home. She called back within a few hours and said they were booked up today but that Brandon Jones could come at 9 AM on Thursday.. He arrive right on time the next morning and I described the problem to him. He did some moisture checking through the inside wall and said it didn't give very high readings and there probably wasn't a major problem. However, he said you couldn't be sure without cutting out a piece of the sheet rock and visually inspecting the area. I said I was reluctant to do that myself and said he would do it and there would be no charge. If I wanted his people to replace the sheet rock, mud, sand and paint (they would match and provide the paint) it, the cost would be $335. Brandon cut an inspection panel in the sheet rock behind the area of concern. Fortunately there was no mold present. The particle board was wet in a small area at the bottom corner. So Brandon cut another inspection opening in the adjoining wall to be sure there was no mold in that area. It was OK with only a very small wet area. I told Brandon I was having a stone mason out to do some tuck pointing of the mortar, caulking and sealing the stone. He suggested that I ask him if the wet particle board presented any problem to the adhesion of the stone, just to be sure. This would have to be fixed from the outside. Brandon was prompt, pleasant and thoroughly professional. He was at my home over an hour and there was no charge. I did not commit to having the sheet rock work done by him and there was no pressure from him to do so. I believe the charge for that work is very reasonable, but wish to wait until the area dries out and the stone mason completes his work. Midwest Restoration Technologies appears to be a company not looking to make a quick buck, but one looking to build their business by good customer service. I would recommend them to anyone who needs the type of service they provide. I had just renewed my subscription to Angie's List a few weeks ago and have used it several times since. Mold is such an area of concern, it was comforting to be able to choose a company based on the experience of Angie's List customers.

He came to my house on time and was very informative. He knew exactly what it was and how to take care of it.
Description of Work: I have black spots on my ceiling in my living room and bathroom. I had a vent free gas fireplace and exhaust fan installed in November. I called Brandon to see if he knew if it was mold from the exhaust going into the attic from the bathroom or soot from the fireplace. He knew as soon as he came into my house that it was soot. The black marks were outlining the rafters and joices in the ceiling. He said to call the manufacturer of the fireplace because it was still under warranty. I found out that there is a crack in one log and a chunk out of another and this was causing the soot, they are sending me replacements. He also gave me a spounge to use on the ceiling to get off the soot. I have used the spounge and it has gotten off a lot of the black marks but I will probably still have to paint. I am glad it wasn't mold.

I called them based on info I found on Angies's Llst...another leak has occurred following major snow storm. Brandon from Midwest set an appointment with me for the next day. He came out on time and started his inspection....going into the attic, checking out the roof etc. The inspection took about 2 hours. He then gave me a report as to what he had found including the offering of how his company could help us and what work would need to be offered to other contracting specialists...roof leak specialist and an insulation company. He gave us names of companies MIdwest works with regularly. He suggested we have the roof and insulation work completed first and then have the ceiling repairs completed. Midwest will help us with that work. He made arrangements for the speciality contractors to call us. They did just and we had the work completed. We feel the price Midwest charged for the inspection was very fair and led to a very positive outcome for us. I would highly recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: Called them for assistance in diagnosing the source of several large water spots on our ceilings throughout the upper level. They came in and did a complete inspection and then provided me with their findings and resources for remediation, We have since followed up with the speciality contractors recommended by them (insulation, roofing) and have resolved the root of our problem. We will eventually have Midwest come back to repair and paint our ceilings. We have been extremely pleased with MIdwest's prompt, accurate service and then also that of the contractors they recommended to us. It's been a wonderful experience overall. We have been trying to get this problem resolved for years with other "specialists" with negative results. Thank you Midwest for a job well done. We will do business with them again.

We purchased a foreclosure that had sat empty for over 12 months. For those of you in the know, if the humidity is not well controlled on a vacant property, the likelihood of mold increases significantly. Prior to purchase we had a lab test conducted and received high mold count in the basement and first floor. We checked Angie's List for providers and after a couple of phone calls, had our 2 top firms out to the house to give an estimate. Both companies were extremely professional, but Nichole from Midwest exuded a confidence about the action plan that we immediately gave them the job. Nichole even took into account our rehab plan for the house and advised us on how her operations would coincide with everything else we have planned. The process was lengthy but expected. Midwest installed scrubbers and Hepa-vacced the entire house. Also included was labor to remove the carpet and tack strip. (we had decided to replace carpet prior to buying the house). They cleaned out all the vents and cleaned the furnace. There was a good line of communication between us and Midwest the entire time. There was never any doubt about where we were in the project or if the timeline would be met. When they retested after the process, the results were stunning. The unaffiliated lab sent back the numbers and Midwest was able to shoot past my highest expectations on the results and gave us a safe house for our family. We were even pleased by the final invoice format. It was line by line and showed a clear correlation on the final amount. None of that scrap paper invoice some contractors use... For anyone needing mold remediation, I can 100% attest to the quality of this company. They make a serious problem easy to handle and do it with utter professionalism.
