 + 0 moreAll went great. He is very pleasant to work with and did a great job. His estimate was completed within a couple of days, when he had to push the job back a week he communicated to us timely. He showed up on time and finished in the time frame he said.
Description of Work: I had a crack in the ceiling that ran the entire width of the room, about 14 feet. The drywall ceiling was sagging about a half inch. The crack started where we knocked out an outer wall and had the support beam resting. I had the foundation checked and there were no issues. The recommendation was to have a carpenter look at the support and the trusses in the attic. Tom had an A+ rating in the BBB so I called him up. Tom took his time to evaluate the situation. He crawled up into the attic to see assess any truss issues, he went to the basement and outside and we cut small holes in the drywall by the support beam to see if there were any issues. When it was all done, he told me there were no structural issues and he brainstormed on how to fix the ceiling. Tom fixed the ceiling by crawling into the attic, moving the insulation and added some two by fours and plywood so the ceiling could be screwed into the wood for support. Tom also fixed a canned light that went out, replaced a light switch, fixed holes in other drywall spots and added a hinged door to the attic opening in the garage.

Description of Work: We needed to get some very specialized pulls installed in 6 solid core pocket doors. Tom went the extra mile to understand what was needed, stopped by our house in the middle of his very busy schedule to assess, and worked very hard to determine how to best install with the highest level of quality. Please note, these were pulls that required very specific 'in field' equipment that really nobody had in the St. Louis area. Tom was able to find a solution and was able to do it at a very competitive price. However, since we live in a new (recently built) home, our builder called unexpectedly this evening and requested he take care of this alongside other related warranty items. Although we will not be going with Tom, I had every intention to if my builder had not called. Based on Tom's professionalism, punctuality, and responsiveness, I will definitely be using him on future projects for our home.

 + 1 moreWe had several carpenters look at the job, however, its magnitude appeared to be too large for most. In particular, the corner of a projection, of the rear roof, had to be braced, shored and jacked up, before the original, vertical beam could be removed and replaced. The 4x12x25 horizontal beam was so large, that it had to be specially ordered. The prospect of removing and replacing this beam seemed to be daunting for several of the carpenters. Only two carpenters were comfortable in taking on this job. We chose Quality Carpentry because of Tom's confident and professional attitude, and his willingness to accommodate our time schedule. Both bids that we received were very similar. Tom kept us informed throughout the process. Once the work began, he, and his assistant, worked diligently, every day, until the job was completed. He went out of his way to explain each stage of the work to me. At the end of each day, he showed me what had been done and told me what he planned to do the following day. The work area was always left clean and tidy. Tom also supplied me with photographs of the work, as it progressed. The attached photos illustrate the work, and the completed project, which looks amazing! Tom is a skilled carpenter, who clearly takes great pride in the work that he does. We were extremely happy with the service he provided and the manner in which it was carried out. I would most certainly hire Quality Carpentry again and have no hesitation in recommending them, highly.
Description of Work: The following work was done. 1.Brace, shore and jack up corner of the roof structure. 2.Remove one, full length cedar post, 4x8x18, and replace with same 3.Remove and replace 4x12x25 horizontal cedar beam and replace with same. 4.Remove and replace one 2x8x20 cedar gable end. 5.Repair 3 sections of cedar siding. 6.Repairs to chimney stack and replaced guy wires.

He did a lot more than listed but from December 2016 to May 2016 on a part time basis we finished the home completely. He met with plumbing and roofing and electricians along the way for repairs needed ASAP from them Service below excludes about 4000$ in supplies.
Description of Work: Tom accomplished so much for me that I wish we had more to do so I could see him again he is family to us now. We did at least 100 projects. Some small. Some big. He helped me starting a few days before Christmas 2015 putting together Christmas items. Putting up pictures everywhere to finish the home look. He put in beautiful baseboards in garage and had them all painted in one day. He built custom gates that matched the wainscoat in the house to prevent my large dogs from accessing other rooms in the house. He also built a custom gate at our other home to keep our pyr pup Melodie from accessing the bedrooms. He built a beautiful enclosure to hide my hot water heater and furnace and humidifier that he then painted a beautiful Maroon along with other painting in house on French doors. He installed many lights. Over the stairwells so I could be safee going up and down stairs. Installed 2 chandeliers. Picked up flowers from nursery and hung them up in time for my daughters shower in May 2016. Kept up the lawn in a beautiful manicured way. Hung pictures throughout house at just the right height. Worked on doors that would not close properly. Installed vents in house. Installed vents in enclosed area in basement to keep it safe. Built wall going to basement so no one could fall through going down there. Put lawn furniture and hoses out. Brought in tropical plants for winter. Installed canned lights throughout basement. Moved Floresent lights to store area so I could find things. Installed smart tv. Did all the shopping needed for supplies. Mulched leaves last winter for me. Put heavy area rugs under heavy furniture in 4 rooms.

Tom shows up when he says he's going to show up, does what he says he's going to do and builds you something that he would build for himself. I have dealt with many contractors who cannot accomplish one of those tasks. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for quality carpentry and dependable service.

Quality Carpentry & Remodeling built a temporary wall,, removed the existing wall, installed the new header beam, removed the temporary wall and cleaned up the area. They also removed two soffits from the kitchen and prepared the space for drywall. They're professional, fairly priced, knowledgeable, proactive and aptly named.

Tom was not the least expensive, but we went with him because he seemed to have a real expertise in deck building and also seemed excited about the project. The entire tear down of the old deck and build of the new one only lasted 2 weeks. Tom was flexible and patient when I wanted things changed and he checked in with me regularly to make sure everything was going well. He made a custom baby gate at the top of the deck stairs for my toddler that I will be able to easily remove in the future. We live in close quarters with our neighbors, who watched Tom throughout the project. They were all very complimentary of his work and were impressed at the time he took making sure each piece of wood was level. A couple of the neighbors have already hired him for their projects. We were very happy with the end result and would use Tom again for any carpentry project we might have.

He cut the drywall, moved electric, patched it up, and installed the counter top. The quality of work is outstanding. Tom was very professional and worked around my schedule. I would recommend him to anyone.

 + 0 moreQuality Carpentry and Remodeling was extremely professional, prompt and very accommodating. My deck was badly in need of having all boards, except the structural components, replaced. Tom provided me a solid plan, helped me with various choices in wood and trim, and even solved a leak in my basement due to the original deck builder not installing flashing. Tom and his team arrived on time every time, and did a fantastic job. They were very attentive to details, even down to choosing the individual boards for quality and cut them so as to minimize the knots. Tom even let me choose where the seams were to go. The new hinged gate he built is fantastic as well. Everyone who sees the deck loves it and I would highly recommend Tom and Quality Carpentry and Remodeling.
