We began our remodeling project in March of 2009. It is now November 10, 2009, and we are STILL waiting for some of our materials to arrive. We sought a bid from Homesource Wholesale Design Center and were impressed with their eagerness, follow-up and professionalism at the start. They provided competitive pricing, samples in their showroom and a friendly sales person who was prompt with quotes and returning calls and emails. On May 17, 2009, we agreed on a final plan, gave Homesource $17,000 and placed our final order. We were given a delivery window of July 6-10, with the warning that delays sometimes happen. On June 24th, I called the sales rep. at Homesource to verify that our order was on track for the week originally stated. She told me everything was on time. On June 29th, we started demolition, expecting our cabinets to arrive as confirmed with the rep. just days before. I thought it was strange that no one had contacted me, so on July 6th (the week the cabinets were to arrive) I contacted Homesource to get a delivery time. The sales rep. informed me THAT DAY that the order had NEVER been put into production and that it would be another 6 weeks until we would receive our cabinets. I was 8 months pregnant, we had a demolished kitchen and could expect to for another 6 weeks. After numerous conversations with the owner of the company, there was no apology and no gesture of restitution. It took days for anyone to get back to us. We were told it was our fault that we demolished our kitchen without receiving our product first. When we inquired why we didn't know about the problem on June 24th when we called to confirm everything was on track prior to demolition, we were told that no one at Homesource actually called the cabinet manufacturer to check on the status. They just assumed everything was on track. They tried to tell us that we should deal directly with the cabinet manufacturer, even though it wasn't the cabinet manufacturer we paid $17,000. It was Homesource that had our money. When we FINALLY received our order, the cabinets were not the size we had anticipated. The designer had taken liberties to change the order due to a problem she had foreseen without informing us that it would change the entire look of our layout. She said the size we ordered (those on the professional architectural plans!!) would not fit, so she took it upon herself to change it without informing us first. Both our contractor and architect said that this simply was not true. The cabinets not only were the wrong size, they arrived with pieces missing. The sales rep. forgot to place the order for pullout drawers in the lower cabinets. This required us to have after market drawers shipped (an additional two weeks of waiting). It caused extra work and expense for our contractor. So, we paid Homesource for installed drawers up front and ended up footing the bill for a half day of labor to get the after market drawers installed. Homesource, again, would not accept blame or offer restitution for this mistake, which cost us money. We have $13,000 cabinets that are the wrong size with drawers that don't fit properly. When the counter tops arrived, the sink was not the one we had selected through Homesource. The installers showed me the order from Homesource. The sales rep. had ordered the wrong sink. Since the hole had already been cut in the quartz, we are going to "live with it" to avoid fighting another losing battle with Homesource. Mistake after mistake occurred during this project. Each time we were given a wordy excuse, no apology and no acceptance of fault. We still do not have a few small pieces required to complete the project. Our calls have yet to be returned or emails answered. "I haven't had time." is an excuse we have heard over and over. It's just interesting that there was plenty of time for hand holding during the sales portion of our relationship with Homesource. This company has a flashy showroom, competitive prices and very prompt and courteous sales representatives. We were confident that we had chosen wisely. Our experience proves we made a poor decision.
Description of Work: We used Homesource Wholesale Design Center to purchase cabinets and counter tops for our kitchen remodel. The sales representative was provided with detailed architectural plans for our "gut rehab.". During a series of meetings, she worked with us to create a visual layout of the kitchen based on the drawings provided, gave us samples of products for the lines the company sold, ordered the product and arranged for home delivery.
