SHUBERT DESIGN FURNITURE & BEDDING

The buffet was warped. It was warped in a way that would not bear a lot of weight from the china cabinet. We had a warranty. So we went to the store to talk with them and get a replacement. They basically told us no. So we went to the Better Business Bureau for help. Finally the district manager of the furniture store stepped in before we went to arbitration with Shubert Furniture.

Happened to stop in during a store-wide clearance. Great selection. Even with the sale going on, took time to show us catalogs with other pieces in the collection. I found the perfect china cabinet, but had to go home to measure. They were kind enough to hold the piece while we ran home. We came back to purchase the piece, which was originally $800, but discounted to $700 for the sale. We took one last lap around the store, and discovered a dining table that was discounted about 50% and we snapped it up, too. I think the first-available delivery we could take was about a week later. We got two great pieces for what I was expecting to spend on one piece, based on other stores' prices. The only thing that I was worried about was the no return/no exchange policy. Luckily, everything is perfect, but it would have been frustrating if I had anything that needed to be resolved.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE IS WORST I'VE EVER HAD WITH A FURNITURE STORE. MADE SELECTIONS BASED ON SALES REPS ADVICE USING SAMPLES IN STORE AND DEPOSITED 50% OF TOTAL ORDER. TWO WEEKS AFTER ORDERING THE FURNITURE THEY CALLED AND SAID THE FABRIC WAS DISCONTINUED. I TOLD THEM TO CANCEL THE ORDER. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TRY TO FIND ENOUGH FABRIC TO FINISH MY ORDER. 2 WEEKS LATER THEY SAID THEY FOUND THE FABRIC. THREE MONTHS LATER I CALLED TO SEE WHEN I COULD EXPECT DELIVERY. I WAS TOLD THE FURNITURE WAS ''IN PRODUCTION''. SIX WEEKS LATER THEY DELIVERED THE FURNITURE. THE WOOD TRIM ON THE UPHOLSTERED PIECES WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM AND THE WOOD END TABLE AND I REFUSED DELIVERY. FIVE MONTHS AFTER ORDERING THE FURNITURE I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT AND IF I DIDN'T WANT THE FURNITURE I WOULD LOSE MY DEPOSIT. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

THEY DELIVERED THE PIECE RELATIVELY FAST. BEFORE THEY BROUGHT THE PIECE IN I NOTICED THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE ON THE BACK, NOT TO NOTICEABLE, BUT STILL DAMAGE. I FELT FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY WE SHOULD HAVE A PIECE OF FURNITURE THAT DIDN'T HAVE BIG GOUGES ON THE BACK. I CALLED IN SEPTEMBER EVERY 5 OR SIX DAYS AND COMPLAINED AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BACK IN SEPTEMBER, TO THIS DAY THEY HAVE NOT FULFILLED THEIR COMMITMENT TO REPLACE THE BACK. I SPOKE TO THE OWNERS WIFE ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AGO AND SAID IF IT WAS NOT COMPLETELY FIXED OR REPLACE BY TODAY I WANTED MY MONEY BACK. THEY STILL ARE NOT RESPONSIVE AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. FINALLY, ON 12-14, SOMEONE CAME OUT AND REPLACED THE BACK SECTION. IF THERE WAS A GRADE LOWER THAN AN "F", I WOULD GRADE THEM WITH IT IN EVERY CATEGORY EXCEPT PRICE AND THE QUALITY OF THE PIECE OF FURNITURE ITSELF.
