The project was not ever completed, and what was completed was done so with very poor planning, poor oversight, and poor workmanship. Accessible Homes was present from January 2017 to July 2017 in our home. We requested a project plan and a heads up for when workers would be in our home since we have 4 children and in-home care staff. We received one project plan that was quickly abandoned by Accessible Homes, and we received only a couple of notifications for when their staff would be showing up. Otherwise, it seemed like an uncoordinated disaster where random workers (some we had seen before, and some we had not) would show up unannounced to cut wood and flooring inside our home. The dust and debris left behind caused one of our children to develop severe asthma symptoms. Rarely did the workers clean up after themselves, they used foul language in front of our children, and smoked in our garage. For months, our main level was torn up and unlivable. Tile from a different job site was installed in the bathroom instead of the tile we had chosen, the shower wand that was installed does not function well enough to use, the flooring installed was not installed per the installation instructions and has many major issues. Our daughter's wheelchair rolls on its own down the hall, which is a safety hazard. An accessible door opener was installed, but the wiring was not encased and is still dangling from the door. The wrong paint color was applied and painter's tape was not used, so there is paint on the outlet covers. There are many more issues, but I will stop here. The entire debacle has left us emotionally exhausted instead of feeling like our home is more accessible for our daughter. The company's owner claims, “I am dedicated to carefully monitoring the successful completion of the home accessibility goals of the individuals and the families Accessible Homes serves." This statement, in our experience, cannot be further from the truth. As a reasonable person, I would not leave this review if the company promptly and politely agreed to correct the mistakes made in our home. But instead, the owners of the company have ignored emails, ignored phone calls, and then have become defensive and combative when we ask for them to fix these issues in our home. We filed a complaint with the BBB, and they never responded. We have tried everything within our means to remedy the situation amicably, and we are now looking into taking legal action if the situation is not resolved soon. Shame on Accessible Homes!
Description of Work: Our daughter is disabled and needed home modifications including an Accessible Bathroom and flat flooring for her wheelchair throughout our main level. This work was started in January 2017 with an estimated time frame of 1 month for completion.
