Hamline Garage Door

The contractor was able to come out for an estimate within a day of my call. We talked through all the options -- insulated vs. non-insulated, various decorative patterns, but he didn't try to steer me towards more expensive choices that I didn't need. He explained exactly what the work would consist of and we agreed on a date and time a couple of weeks out, which he then confirmed a few days in advance. I didn't have to be there while the work was done, and couldn't be as it turned out, but everything was done exactly as he'd described it. He left a note explaining that he'd be back the next day to put on two finish pieces, and he delivered as promised. The new door looks good, works well, and came at a very reasonable price.

Mark came out and measured our garage door for replacement and said he'd have to special order a door because of the size. His estimate for the new door was $629, plus $60 to get the old opener working again. He called me a bit later to tell me when the door would be in (in two weeks). Right on schedule, he came out two weeks later with the new door. Our garage was full of junk, and my husband's idea of clearing space was amusing at best. Mark didn't miss a beat, just helped me rearrange stuff, so he could get to the areas he needed to reach; he was very good-natured about the whole thing. Two and a half hours later, we had a nice new garage door that actually worked. The total was $20 less than he'd estimated, because he only had to repair a short in the wiring rather than replace the photo eye set as he'd expected.

One of my garage springs broke and my attempts to get the garage door first open and then closed so I could get to work unfortunately left me with a a garage door that would not close at all. I called Hamlin Garage Door and they were at my house within one hour. He replaced the springs, lubed everything up and readjusted the garage door opener.

Great job! I called and Mark was able to get to my house that morning. He came when he said that he would and finished the job quickly. He was polite and friendly. I would definitely use this company again!

Called Hamline Garage door and explained our electric opener wasn't working correctly and garage door was not always opening and/or closing and was rubbing on some greasy chains and leaving marks on outside of door. We called, Mark answered right away, we explained problem but said we wouldn't be home. He came same day, fixed door, and left a note with what he had done to fix it and a balance due of $85.00. Absolutely the best, most timely hassle free service I have ever experienced in my entire life! Can you believe it - a service person responding immediately to a first time customer with a tiny job and needing no check on the spot. GREAT!!!

I called at 8:15 am and left a message. He called back and we scheduled the repair for later in the day during the afternoon. He showed up early in the afternoon, repaired the opener, and did a couple of other things I didn't know needed attention. Overall, a very good experience.

Mark responded very promptly to my request and came ready to do the work. He told me I could probably get the job done for a little less money ($150-160 range) if I could find an installer with matching parts using the old door hardware, whereas he'd have to replace some of the hardware as well as the springs and it would come out around $200. Not wanting to bother with more phone calls trying to hunt someone down, I asked him to go ahead. He did an excellent job, he was fast, and the $194 seemed very fair.

He made suggestions but didn't over sell. The work was very economical. He did a nice job and had the best price. He was very professional and responsive. I would definitely use him again and would recommend him.

Great! He made necessary repairs but no more than he had to. I was amazed that he could get a very old garage door opener to work like new. As with all the other reports on the list, his service is impeccable.

Mark was so prompt. He came out within 10 minutes of us talking on the phone (happened to be in the area). He diagnosed the problem over the phone, had the parts with him for the repair, and was done in less than 1/2 hour. He was pleasant, courteous, and explained everything about the repair. This was our second time using this company (it was our other garage door last time!), and we will definitely call them again if we need to!

When I initially described my problem over the phone, the technician immediately told me what was wrong and how much it would be. It ended up being exactly what I was told.

Mark was able to provide a free estimate trip. (Hamline Garage Doors is less than 5 miles from my house. Whether this was a factor, I don't know.) He came within 24 hours of my non-emergency call with a smile and a great, friendly attitude. He surveyed the situation and was able to offer a repair option vs. replacement, saving me hundreds of dollars. He then came the next day and did exactly as he said he would. He was clean, thorough, and honest. He's the kind of repairman everyone hopes to have recommended to them. Of note, I had called another Angie's List favorite for the same job, but they wanted $69 for the estimate. That other company would also have charged more money for the return repair trip and lowest guesstimated labor than Mark charged for the whole package. It pays to call around!

I was pleased with the service. Called and the service man arrived first thing the next day and replaced the door springs and also pointed out a worn cable that was near breaking and replaced that as well. Very courteous and professional service.

The service I received from this company bore out the high ratings he has received from others. My initial call was returned promptly, and after asking me some basic questions about the problem, Mark was able to quote the repair price over the phone and schedule an appointment to make the repair the next day. He arrived promptly, had all the right equipment to make the repair and was done in 30 minutes. The price was exactly as quoted, and he let me know that the rest of the parts on the door as well as the opener were in good shape and that I should not expect any problems in the near future from them. He obviously loves his work and has a lot of experience and expertise in the field. He's very personable, and takes the customer service part of his job seriously.

Garage door was sticking at several points on the way down and had to be manually forced closed. Door and springs looked ok. Opener was more than 20 years old so I was not surprised that it was the problem. When I called for an appointment, I expected the usual hassles of trying to fit my work schedule. Instead Mark offered to come the next day if I'd leave the people door in our detached garage unlocked for him. He called when he determined the problem. With my approval, he replaced the opener, left new remotes and the invoice in the garage for me. Sure beats have to take off work a wait around for a 2 to 4-hour service window!

I called on a Monday and Mark Jacobsen was there at 8:45 am 2 days later. It took him about 1.5 hours and the thing was done! It is a 1/2-horse power opener (I don't know which brand), has 2 remotes, and 1 digital wall-mounted dealie, and the laser/motion safety shut-off mechanism. I was astounded. This is a one-man show and he is really on the ball.

Mark provided an estimate for replacing my garage door and opener while I was home on Monday morning. He was able to complete the work on Tuesday morning while I was at work. He left the bill in the garage and I am mailing a check to him in the morning. The bill was exactly the same as the estimate. The light on the old opener was very unreliable and the garage is detached from my house. The new opener has a double light on it and Mark moved the control button in the garage to be next to the side door of the garage so I can more easily turn the opener light on and off. The reviews on Angie's list were very important in my decision to contact Hamline Garage Door.

We couldn't get the garage door to close without holding down the button. I called and left a message. Mark called back within a couple of hours. I explained the problem and he said he would check out the problem the next day. He came out, we didn't need to be at home. He said he would call if it would be a costly repair. When I pulled into the garage that night, the door opened and shut without a problem, and the bill was sitting on top of a chair in the garage. If I had known it would be this easy to get it fixed, I would have called Mark months ago.

He made it easy. He told my wife what was wrong and gave her options for fixing the problems, made the fixes, and everything works great. Very pleasant to work with and got the job done exceptionally quickly and courteously.

My door stopped working on a Tuesday morning. I left a message to see I could have them out the next day to fix the opener or replace. Jack called me back that evening and set up a time for the next day at 10:30 am. He arrived on time, checked the opener, and found that it was dead. The opener was over 13 years old and did not have any safety features on it. He quoted me a price of $299. I agreed to the deal. He replaced the opener, adjusted the tracks, and did not charge me a cent above the quote. My garage is not a typical garage, it is built out of concrete so this was a more complex job. He cleaned everything up and took the old parts away.

Positive. He was prompt, and installed the new opener in a timely manner. After installing, he went over the features and use of the opener. He was very friendly and professional, and I would recommend him to others!

Mark did a great job. Kept me apprised of the work he did and how everything operated. Very responsive. I will definitely use him again.

Excellent. Mark provided multiple solutions to fix our problem (some which would not have involved his company). He did what he said he'd do when he said he'd do it!!!

Jake came out next day, did the required work on the spot, and tightened up and lubricated as needed. He was very pleasant and professional!
