Hamline Garage Door

Had Mark ("Jake") come out twice. First to do an estimate, then he came out a couple of months later to double-check his estimate and provide me with a view of some samples. He wanted to make sure I understood exactly what I was getting. At that point, I agreed to have him do the job. Very friendly and ALWAYS on time. He gave me an accurate projection of how long it would take to get the doors from the manufacturer. He started when I left for work in the morning. That same day I came home, the old doors were gone, the new ones were on and they were insulated well. I realized that he offered better doors for the same price that a custom place wanted to charge me. I am picky, but extremely happy with the results.

Excellent. I would definitely use him again. He was pro-active about my problems and I really appreciated that -- i.e., I knew the door sounded rough when it was going up and down, but I didn't think to ask him to lubricate it -- he did it on his own.

Mark was very responsive and gave me a diagnosis and price quote of the problem over the phone. He scheduled a time with me for the following day and showed up right on time. The opener was different than he was expecting so he had to leave to pick up a part. He returned right away and completed the work as well as fine tuning it and re-leveling the eye sensors. Very professional and prompt. Highly recommend.

We called another company and they wanted to charge 600 dollars for the same service. So we went on Angie's list and found this company. He had the part and knew exactly what he was doing. The things that needed fixed he did and was just an all around great and professional guy. He explained everything that he was doing and explained why. He was efficient, prompt, courteous, and professional.

Our new house had a 2-car garage but no opener. I called Mark the week before we closed on the house to schedule the installation. He said he'd have to see the garage to know exactly what we needed, so to call him after we actually moved in. In the chaos of the move, I didn't get back to him, but one day he just stopped by. He knew we were busy, but he had pulled in the alley and had taken a look at the garage from the outside, then caught up with my husband, who showed him the interior. It was really great that he remembered us and stopped by without waiting for us to call, as the move was exhausting, and we were so busy I'd forgotten all the things I'd mean to take care of. Mark had to get us a different rail, as our garage is taller than average, so that added $25 to the original estimate, but that was our choice, as it wasn't required. We had a keypad installed on the outside as well. We got a little better opener than expected, as he had gotten a deal, so that didn't cost us any more (it has a motion-detector light for the garage interior, a lock-out function in case a transmitter is lost or stolen, and a digital thermometer). Mark took the time after the installation to educate me on the opener and the keypad, and what to do if there were ever any problems. He was more thorough than any service person I've ever dealt with, and is just a really nice guy as well. We couldn't have been happier with the whole thing.

With winter around the corner we wanted to ensure a properly operating garage door. Mark arrived promptly (even a little early, which was great as we needed to head off to work afterwards). He thoroughly checked out the 50 year old door. Advised us that the springs had been replaced at one time and were still in very good condition. The light would not come on when the door was opening (this was not due to a burned out bulb) - Mark fixed the light. The manual switch was very old and didn't always work - he replaced the switch. We wanted the code for the keypad changed so he handled that. Mark was very professional, personable, efficient and more than fair with his prices. Fabulous service - HIGHLY recommended!!

He had all the tools, equipment, and parts to resolve the issue in less than an hour. Replaced the spring, roller and did preventive maintenance on the garage door. Highly recommend!

Mark was able to do all of the work in one day and finished ahead of schedule. Doors look and work great.

The gentleman answered the calls promptly. He set an appointment and came on time. He did a very good job. He did his job so well that I didn't even know he was here, He came and looked at it and fixed it without me even being here. The price was fantastic!

So then I called Mark. I left the service door open. He came in 2 hours and undid the damage I did when trying to "repair" a track I damaged. Turned out that simply a cable had broken. That repair was only $99 bucks and the extra $39 was for putting in an entirely new track, greasing, re-aligning and testing the door. Mark also tactfully warned me about messing with the cables and torsion springs on my own. I promise I never will again. I highly recommend Hamline doors.

We were very satisfied with Hamline Garage Door's service and will call Mark again for future work on the door. It is an old door, and it is great to have a person to call who will help us keep it in good working order.

I found Mark on Angie's List. I called Mark on a Friday afternoon and described the problem to him over the phone. He asked for some information on the garage door opener model and brand. He said he thought it was the gear that needed to be replaced and it would cost $110 to repair this. He scheduled a time to come out Monday morning and said he would also inspect the electronic eyes while he was out and would replace those if he thought necessary. I had to work, so Mark came out and did his thing and repaired the gear and left the old part for me, to see what he had replaced. Mark called me to let me know the job was complete and the electronic eyes did not need to be replaced since they were in good shape. Outstanding service and communication from Mark. I wish all service providers were as responsive as Mark at Hamline Garage Door.

I called at about 9:00 AM on a Tuesday morning and gave my name and number to his machine. Within a half hour, Mark returned my call and set up an appointment for later the same morning. He arrived on time and completed the work quickly. The door runs more smoothly now than before the spring broke. The charges were a little lower than what I had expected after reading others comments on the same work.

Our old garage door opener broke with little warning on a weekend. Monday morning, after checking Angie's List, I called Hamline Garage Door. They were able to come the same day, bringing the new opener with them. It was absolutely hassle free and the new opener has been great. The whole experience was very professional and so very easy.

I called Mark on the weekend, as one of the garage door springs broke on Friday night. Mark returned my call on Sunday and agreed to come to our house at 8am. Mark was at our house just before 8, and went to work right away. Within 30 minutes he had replaced the springs, and checked/adjusted/greased/oiled the garage door, rollers, tracks, cables, and opener. He did an excellent job very quickly!

They encourage you to keep components that work perfectly fine instead of insisting that you to replace things that don't need to be. They are honest.

Unbelievable. I called him on Mon. morning and by the time I got home that night the work was done, the parts cleaned up, the garage fully functioning and a bill for only $103. I was hoping for under $500. Not only was it cheap, it was quality work, it was convenient (I didn't need to come home from work) and it was quick (same day service).

Mark was pleasant to work with and very kind to our young children. He actually came out twice because the cable frayed first and was replaced. Then, later, one coil at the top of the door snapped and needed to be replaced. We had him do both coils. The garage and door are very old and all of it really needed to be done. Mark returned calls quickly and was actually able to be at our house within 24 hours in one case and 24 minutes in the other.

Mark is very responsive, courteous and trustworthy.

I called to get an estimate for repair or possibly replacement as door opener would 'try' but fail to open the door. Instead, the main track would twist causing me to think the door was too heavy to be lifted. Jake assessed to find the bracket was positioned to pull the door backwards rather than upwards. He repositioned a couple bolts and the door worked fine. No parts nor extra charges ($69 is his minimum service call charge). He could well have told me I needed a new door or some major repair and I'd have believed it. Instead, he completed repair swiftly while educating me about my particular door for future reference.

Mark was able to come out the day after I called him. He immediately diagnosed the problem as corrosion on the electric eye connections, saying that it was a common problem with openers like mine. He replaced the electric eyes and protected the connections from corrosion. It's great to not have to worry about whether the door will close or not.

This was so easy! Mark came out to take a look at my door, showed me the door he recommended and told me when he would be calling back to do the work. Everything went very smoothly. The price is more than fair and the response to my call was immediate. I will continue to use Hamline Garage Door for any issues I might have. The finished door looks and works great.

Called Mark late on a Friday (after business hours). He called first thing Monday morning and was here immediately. We feared we would have to replace the whole GDO, but Mark fixed everything and put in a preventative fix so that it wouldn't happen again. I was out the entire time -- he let himself in, did everything and left.
