We met with Cory M. He is a project manager with the company. He measured our house and asked what we thinking in terms of deck design and type of siding we wanted to do. He gave us a quick pitch on the products they carried. lasted maybe a half and hour. He told us he would email us with a quote of our project and some ideas for our deck rebuild. Within 3 days he our quote to us. Unfortunately it took us a while to get back to him due to unrelated issues but he kept in contact with us weekly. End of April beginning of May we finally we able to sit with Cory again. He should us his ideas about the deck with the features and products we wanted. He brought out the siding and trim samples and allowed us to make our choices. He helped with Trim ideas because the trim around our casement windows was an ugly shade of brown and could be wrapped, so we had the wonderful task of trying to match those. After making our selections he set up a rough time when the first crew would be out, siding. With our wonderful wet spring, the estimated time was pushed back a couple of weeks. The job that his siding crew did was incredible in about a week. More than what we were expecting, the house is beautiful. They corrected some issue with the exterior that were hidden behind the old siding and added some nice touches. The deck crew showed up about a month later. A bit long of a wait but well worth it. The head deck builder Galen, wow he built an incredible deck, the attention to detail is amazing. The deck took about 6 days to built even though we were told 3-4. Miscommunication between the person dropping of supplies and the crew. Gutters were installed about a week later. Cory and Galen and the whole siding crew were a pleasure to work with. They left the house and yard clean after each night and at the end of the project. Thank you guys so much for the good work. the only flaw was that we were told when we signed the contract that we would receive 2 gift cards, but never received them.

Dear Homeowner We want apologies again about the design promotion. This deal was written by Angieslist in an attempt to get us to buy advertising from them. We tried early on to reach out to the customers that purchased this deal and get them a refund for this promotion. We did not receive any compensation from this and were told that Angieslist would refund back the money they took. If you have any problems getting your money back from Angieslist please let me know and I will assist you in getting your refund back from them. Please call MN Remodeling Solutions 763.428.4888

Their price was the highest. I showed them a picture of the door that I wanted. They put a proposal together for me and they put a contract together, I signed it. I gave them a check for a thousand dollars and they ordered the door. The guy called me and said that he did not do his research and it was going to cost an extra $1500. I live in an old house and it had to be a custom door. He told me that if I wanted him to do it I would have to give them that much more money or they would not do it. I told them that I could not give them the money and they returned my check. I got the money back but, it was a lame experience. I thought that they were nice but, incompetent. If they make a mistake, it is going to be on me and not on them. They were not willing to take responsible. They cannot give estimates because, they do not know what they are doing. I think that they handled themselves professionally.

I wanted to respond to the customers review. We originally meet with this customer in June of 2012. The project was for the MAC program, which is a program that reimburses homeowners for completing noise mitigation projects. We did not hear back from the customers until November of 2012. The customers asked for us to price this project many different ways. Change in wood type, change of hardware options. We tried to get the customer as accurate a proposal as possible. After working hard to get the customer what they were looking for, we did not hear from them. I followed up in December of 2012. I was told they were busy around the holidays, which is understandable. I did not hear back from the customer until August of 2013. I got an email stating they wanted to look at the project again. We sent another rep to meet with the customer and move forward. The door they were looking for was very unique and expensive. When we went to order the door from the supplier, we were told that because of the custom size there would be an additional cost, not 1500.00, but it did cost more. It was our fault for not confirming the exact size. This does not mean that we are willing to lose money, especially after trying to help the customer for over a year. We explained this to the customer, and they did not want to move forward with the project. We returned there down payment, and apologized for the mistake. Our customers are very important to us, and we try very hard to avoid issues like this. But unfortunately small things like this happen, and I believe that we handled it with professionalism. I am not sure why, a year later we get this feedback.

All I can say is this was a catastrophe from the start. The contractors were supposed to start work on Thursday. However, even though I had taken the time off in the afternoon to be there to let them in, they just popped by quickly to measure up how much material they needed. No big deal I thought. However, when they came by on Friday they then didn't get everything done. This meant they had to schedule a third day to finish the job even though I was initially told they would be done on Friday. On Friday I was also told that I would have to move furniture in my bedrooms which had never been mentioned to me initially. OK, I can deal with that, but I never got a call back to schedule another day. Then the following Thursday I get a call at about 9:00 AM saying they are now standing in front of my house and asking how they could get in. I told them that I was at work and was not going to be able to pop by the house and that I would need someone to contact me to schedule when they would come by again. I then tried to call the office number a number of times but never got a call back. The contractors then came back again the next day and luckily my sister was able to open the doors for them. When they were done for the day, I was told that they were not be able to do some of the work for various reasons (all seemed to be valid) and I was fine with that. However, I was not fine with the state that they had left my house. Only two of the almost 20 access points were actually closed back up and the rest were simply left open for blown insulation to fall out of. I tried to contact someone about the state of my house and about what the bill would look like since they didn't finish most of the work. Once again, I had no luck in contacting anyone. I was then emailed a bill a few days later for nearly the full amount of the original quote with a very small amount deducted and charged for the moving of the furniture. I then tried again repeatedly to reach anyone at the office to no avail. Finally, I found Brandon's number on Angie's List and tried to call him. Even though I had to leave a message, he did call back and went through my concerns. He said he would come out and have a look at everything. Brandon came out and was courteous and punctual. He had a look at all of the work and took some measurements. However, I do feel that most of this exercise was for nothing as the measurements didn't come into play in the final cost of what I paid for the job. It did also mean that I took time out of my day to deal with errors in a job that his company had made. In the end Brandon and I agreed that my initial estimate of about 20% of the job being done was correct (like I said all of the measurements weren't consulted again). I was then sent another incorrect bill and emailed Brandon to agree to pay the $800 and that was that. All in all an awful experience; and my house still looks like I took a hammer to most of the walls and ceiling which I will patch up myself. Brandon was very punctual and professional and the only reason I am not giving all Fs in my grading (as he also brought down the cost after he had stopped by). I would however never use this company again for anything. I don't care how little it costs. No communication and very shoddy work. I understand that they were overwhelmed because they had offered a Living Social voucher (which, in my opinion, also was never factored into my cost) but the job still needs to be done to the same standard otherwise you cannot offer such a voucher.
Description of Work: The provider was supposed to cut two ports into the corners of my built-out attic area and fill with blown in insulation. They were then supposed to blow insulation into the walls. Lastly, they were supposed to fill the ceiling between the 1st and 2nd story of the house in order to dampen the sound.

I wanted to respond to [member name removed] complaint. I meet with [member name removed] to take a look at his project and address his concerns and issues. We discussed what the problems were, went through the original estimate and clarified the invoice. We agreed upon a price for the work performed, we shook hands and [member name removed] seemed satisfied with the outcome. It is very frustrating and disappointing that the customer feels the need to bash a company’s reputation after we tried very hard to correct any problems that may have occurred. This is how the project laid out according to Minnesota Remodeling Solutions. [member name removed] purchased a living social voucher for attic insulation. The voucher was for blown in attic insulation up to 300 sqft to an R49. We had our General Manager meet with [member name removed] and look at the details of his project. It was explained to the customer what the voucher covered, which was also listed on voucher. We presented a proposal to [member name removed] for additional services, and he agreed and gave us a down payment. Because of the complexity of the project and the unknown factors involved, our sub contractor came the first scheduled time to cut the access holes and determine what was need to complete the project. It was very clear with [member name removed], our general manager and installers that [member name removed] was going to repair all the holes in the ceiling ( floor joists ) and repair the access holes in the walls. We scheduled with [member name removed] for the following day. We started the project. We found the certain areas of the house could not be insulated so the installers did not do the work there. We needed to come back another day to finish the project. We asked [member name removed] to move some furniture so that our installers could reach certain areas of the ceiling. The following week, the installers called [member name removed] the day before we were scheduled to come back and finish. We arrived to find that [member name removed] did not move any of the furniture, so we had to once again schedule. We told [member name removed] we could move the furniture when we come back, but there would be a charge for that service. He stated he was fine with that. We then scheduled for the following week. [member name removed] was not home. He left a key for us to access the property and finish. We did not meet his sister at the jobsite. When then completed the project. Certain items that were proposed to [member name removed] were unknown, because they were hidden behind walls and the ceiling. When we started the work in those areas we realized that he did not need insulation, and the holes were necessary to determine this, which was to be repaired by [member name removed]. Originally [member name removed] was sent a wrong invoice. This was a misunderstanding and was corrected on my visit. [member name removed] did not want to pay for moving furniture as he agreed to. Even though I paid for this service, I took it off of the invoice. After we agreed on the price for services and [member name removed] was sent a new invoice and he wanted to still dispute the bill. So again, to make him happy we corrected this amount. [member name removed] did not take into account the inconvenience that we had to even complete his project. It seems that the customer had intentions of complaining from the beginning in an attempt to get something for nothing. To complain after all we did to help [member name removed] is unjustified. For a true representation of our company and the service we provide, please visit Living Social to see the customer feedback. Thank You Brandon MN Remodeling Solutions Owner

I actually bought a deal through a different site, and it was for 300sf of blown in attic insulation for $50. I used it for the space above our garage since I am trying to insulate it better for a more comfortable workspace. After buying the deal it took a bit of time to connect with the company to schedule a date of service, but I feel they made a fair effort of it. The site showed they had over 1000 sales, and I am sure 3000 phone calls from it. It took a total of three calls, the first call I made was returned the next business day but I missed the call. I called back about 5 minutes later and got to the same recorded message to leave a message and it would be returned the next business day. It was not, however it was near the new year holiday weekend. About 3 business days later I called again, left another message, and this one was once again returned the next business day as promised. So overall, there were a few complications, which were manly due to the mass of callers after an internet deal, but when I did speak to someone to schedule an appointment, she was very friendly and I was happy to hear my appointment would only be about 2-3 weeks out. Responsiveness: B Punctuality: B My original appointment had to be rescheduled due to weather, I was called and a voicemail was left that they could not come the day I had scheduled, but would work with me to still get my appointment in that same week. We went back and forth a bit about availability with my work schedule and they said they would be happy to come on Sat. since it was my only day of availability that week. My appointment was for 2:00pm but they did not arrive until about 3:30pm, however I did receive a phone call and explanation that they were running behind at their previous job. Professionalism: A As for the work performed, they completed the job quickly, were very friendly, and the gentleman that came into the house took his boots off so my carpet would stay clean. One of the workers also gave me a bit of advice on how to further continue my project of warming my garage area to work in. Overall I am happy with the work performed, and would consider using Minnesota Remodeling Solutions again.

A few weeks later he sent a picture of our house with a new entryway, and different color siding, but it looked like something I could have made in photoshop myself. I asked him to redo it with the original color of siding as I had said that we would NOT be replacing the siding. Although he said he'd fix it and send it back, I never heard back. I was unimpressed with the quality of work done even though it only cost me $49. If it had gone better, I would have been ready to spend more!
Description of Work: I purchased a Deal to have someone draw up plans for a remodeling project. The person who showed up couldn't answer questions about what direction we should go with our ideas, had no advice to offer, didn't even seem sure about what the details of the Deal were.

It was kind of strange. There were a few things that we weren’t aware of when we were talking to the person that was handling the remodeling. One of them was the fact that when we selected the floor they did not explain to us was that the flooring in the bathroom then would not meet the floor in the hall so there were the steps. If we had known that we would have made other arrangements with them so that the floor would have been even. We also had problems with when their people were coming. To get work done, they would come they would do something for example when they did the dry wall and stuff and then they would leave a plan and give no instructions as to what we were supposed to do. So one day we did not know what to do so we turned it off before we went to bed and it turned out that we should have left it on. We thought that there were a lot of communication steps that were missing with the contractor. We ended up too that we had to purchase some of the things on our own so I think that without looking it up, it would have been in the range of $5000 to $6000 of things that we paid them. We would have people arrive on a Saturday to install things like the toilet. It was really a strange way to do business.

This was emailed to us from the homeowners in 2011. From our understanding the customer had a good experience with our company. 2 years later there review of our services has completly changed. It is hard for us to understand this poor review, when we recieved the following communication from the customer. Hello, We are very pleased with our experience with your firm. You did quality work on our remodel. We were impressed from our first to last meetings. You listened carefully to what we wanted. You set realistic deadlines (for example, when you would be working on the bid and when the bid would be completed). You met the deadline and gave us a detailed explanation of the bid. We were pleased with our meetings with knowledgeable employers of Focus Point and The Cabinet Store to help us select tile, grout, vanity, sink, counter top and paint colors. This was very helpful for us. The remodel went well. We were pleased that we could call either Dave, Rob or you with any questions or concerns, which were either addressed right away or if there was no immediate answer available, one of you would get back to us. We were always treated with respect and a willingness to help us. Communications were very good. It meant a lot to us. All of the subcontractors were very easy to work with. They were very skillful and knowledgeable. They took time to explain what they were doing and why. They also cleaned up the mess after their work was completed. We especially appreciate that they were carefully working around the bathtub/shower surround that we had previously installed. We were very happy with the end result. We will call you when we are ready for our next project. Thanks again - Have a great day! Please contact me to discuss your issues and concerns. Brandon, Owner - MN Remodeling Solutions 612.501.2477

I purchased the big deal coupon for this service and I thought we had a fine meeting. They gave me a sales pitch, but at the same time they had some good information and good education on their services. Overall it was a valuable use of time and money. I did not get too much into the pricing of their end solution, but I would give the actual design session a B. I would very likely use them again.

They advertised a design service, and when I called them, they said they only do roofing, siding and windows. The don't do design work. They didn't do what they said they do, and they didn't come. I was intrigued by the $49 consultation fee (regularly $500) and purchased it via Angies List special deals. I thought I would be getting creative ideas on things I could do to dress up my home's exterior. What I discovered was the company was in the roofing/siding business with no apparent uniqueness with regard to design or creativity. Essentially, I paid $49 for a roofing siding contractor to bid on re-roofing and re-siding my house. When I suggested that I thought that marketing their business as a design consultant (or however they expressed it) was misleading, the salesman (a likable guy) told me it was really an idea the Angies List people had suggested and that I could request my money back. I assume this company will do fine work if hired, but due to how they marketed themselves, I never had the desire to find out first hand.
Description of Work: Two meetings only. No work was done.

We would like to apologies again to all of the angielist memebers who purchased the Big Deal promotion for a design consultation. It was never our intention to mislead any of our potential customers with this promotion. This Big Deal was provided and written by Angieslist in an attempt to get us to advertise and purchase marketing services with them. We tried to change the verbage of the promotion right away, however, by then many of you had already purchased the big deal. We were able to have an in home consultation with many of you, providing design ideas and our professional opinion on your project, as well as, detailed estimates. We were not able to provide you with a computer generated mark up, which was expected from us as stated in the Angielist Big Deal promotion. We understand your frustration with this and have tried to get you reimbursed for your purchase. Please contact Brian Foley @ 317.803.7046 for help with your refund. As a professional remodeling company we take customer service very seriously, and this experience with Angieslist has been very disappointing to us as well. We discussed the work to be done on Thursday 10/3. The estimator took notes and pictures of the work to be done in order to provide an estimate. The estimate was to be separated into two parts with a quote on the more basic items to be provided by Monday 10/7 and the computer design options to be provided by the end of the next week. It has now been over a week and we have not heard anything. An unresponsive contractor might not be too unusual, but in this case we paid $55 up front for computer generated design options that have not been provided. Had the company followed through on what the Project Manager promised, our professionalism rating would have remained high. Since it has been over five business days, the rating went from A to F. Having a follow up call would have kept them favorable in our minds. Even though the Big Deal was just $55, we have a lot of work to be done in our new "old" home and will now move forward with other contractors.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal offering by this company to have a computer generated home exterior remodeling design. The company employee was on time and seemed to be knowledgeable. Because he was helpful and friendly, we decided to get a quote on the interior redesign items on our checklist, which included removing a structural wall, installing french doors in a room and remodeling our basement stairway.

They were very good! They were very responsive and came exactly when they said they would. The cost even came in less than what was quoted and they did what they said they would do. I had some of the materials and they had to buy some additional ones. They did a great job with organizing and finding out what in addition they may need to get. They did a great job and I was very happy with the work.

Overall, I was not satisfied and they did not do good work. They came to our house after the storm. They put the tarp on the roof as a temporary fix. However, the tarp fell off shortly after, so we decided to get another company for the actual roof repair. I had signed a contract with them and had to work to get out of it.
Description of Work: They put a tarp up on the roof after a tornado.

We were contracted by the homeowner to do the repairs to his home that he incurred from the May 2011 tornado. As a service we tarped his house to prevent any further damage. During the insurance negation process the homeowner decided to hire another contractor to complete the needed repairs. Normally tarping is part of the service that we offer to our homeowners but seeing that he opted to go with another contractor we charged him a small tarping fee which the homeowner finally agreed to pay after 6 months.

They were prompt. There were a few repairs they did after the installation. One of the windows needed a new seal, but they were not able to come up with one. It may have been an issue with the manufacturer, I’m not quite sure. Other than that, everything turned out very well.
Description of Work: They replaced 6 windows.

They were professional and took care of anything that needed done. They cleaned up well and we had no problems. The people I dealt with were very polite, well kept, and got the work done when they said. I used to have a handyman service and can be particular with services I get. I was pleased with their work and it met my expectations.

It turned out to be pretty good. They covered everything before they began, to contain the mess. It can be quite a mess doing that type of work and we really appreciated their extra care. We thought their price was reasonable.
