My computer was not fixed after the above work was done so I brought it in again. The man who co owns the business took down the information which of course was "my computer still freezes up". He said he would call the tech named Dan to look it over. I called 2 days later which was a FRIDAY and asked if my computer was ready yet. The lady who owns the business said "Evidently not because it is still sitting here". She said she would have the tech call me which he did. He called about 3 hours later and told me that he had the computer on ALL NIGHT and it did not freeze up once. ??? excuse me, the lady said " it is still sitting here" when I asked if it was done. (Sombodys lying) He stated he wanted to bring the computer to my home and observe while I was using it to see what would cause it to freeze. I told him that it only freezes when I have a Facebook game open or while playing a game on Facebook. He had me doing all kinds of things from Yahoo to Facebook. I played a couple of games and then he had me move on to somthing else. I stated that I really felt the game was causing this. I also stated that LOTS of people play computer games and there is no problem. I wanted to know WHY my computer would freeze up during games and wanted it fixed. (Should not be tough for a computer tech to figure out). He was at my home for about 45 minutes and the computer never froze up. It was not more than 10 minutes after he left that the computer froze. I had his cell number because he called me to get the correct address. I called immediately but he would not answer. Left a message but he didn't call back. Then on Monday I called the Radio Shack and told them what happened and that I had called Dan's cell but he did not answer. Get ready for this, the owner of store told me that MOST Computer Tech's DO NOT take phone calls from clients. They just do work orders. ???...That is news to me because I have used 3 different techs in the past and ALL of them gave me their phone numbers including their home and cell number AND they also ANSWERED their phones/called me back! The next thing he told me was that the tech has a bad heart and was probably resting due to the heat and the holiday week end.???...Say what??..The tech himself told me that he is the gardener at the golf course and mows at least 6 hours a day!! And NOW suddenly, the tech is too fragile to take phone calls and work on computers? WHY wasn't this a problem when I wrote the check??? This was unreal BUT I held my tongue and quietly shook my head. I stated that the ORIGINAL PROBLEM still existed. I stated that I had already done a defragmentation and many system restores and it took nowhere near 51/2 hours. I asked how it was that it would take the tech 51/2 hours to do the same? I explained that I felt that I didn't get what was promised for the money I paid. I then asked the guy to have the tech call me. Dan the tech called me and said there was nothing more he could do unless he cleaned off my hard drive and re-installed it for a cost of another $100. I asked Dan what he had done to my computer thus far and he stated the same as the itemization/receipt. These people are not totally honest and I caught the shop owners and the tech in a couple lies. I will NEVER use the computer repair service at Radio Shack again. All he had to do was say "Hey, I will make do what I can to make this right". BUT that never happened! I have always known that that if you want repeat biz, you have to keep give the customer what he is asking for. That is EXACTLY what all these people involved would want if they were paying for something. Fact is, it didn't happen for me. I fee duped.
Description of Work: I brought my computer in because it was freezing up. Computer tech did a system restore even tho I told them I had already done at least 10. Tech also installed free spyware called Spybot and free anti virus called AVG. He removed the Anti Virus I had paid for telling me that AVG is what he uses and it works better than what I had. He also did a defragmentation of my hard drive. (Somthing else I had already done myself). These are all that were listed on the itemization/receipt. I was charged $22 up front and another $100 when I picked it up. The rate is $22 an hour for computer repair.
