Technical Reinforcements Inc

This is the second time I have used this vendor this year. Both times I have purchased their "Big Deal" coupon, which I believe is an awesome deal. My home desktop was completely hijacked by a virus, even though it was protected by an up-to-date version of McAfee. Basically the virus hides all your files and programs, trying to simulate a hard drive crash, and then pretends to be a Windows repair tool. This one was very sophisticated as it wouldn't even allow me access to the task manager or safe mode or any of the other anti-viral products on the machine, except McAfee, which was rendered useless. But the McAfee scan could still be run, so even though it couldn't affect the virus, it showed that all my files and programs were still there. I purchased the coupon on the 18th, and then called Technical Reinforcements. Adrian answered and came out the next morning. He arrived a few minutes late (for which he immediately apologized for), but got straight to work. He was obviously enjoying the challenge of this virus as it was a "less crude" version of past ones he had removed. He explained each step of his process, as his first few attempts were defeated by the virus. But he finally got through and was able to get his applications working on the problem. The nice thing about working with this company is that they charge by the hour, not by the task, so Adrian also worked on my roommates computer while the lengthy diagnostic tools were working on mine. So I highly recommend to have more than one machine available to look at if you can (share with a friend, call your parents or siblings, etc), as it maximizes their time and your repair dollars spent. Long story short, he got the work done on both machines within the two hours granted in the coupon, and got mine cleaned and running. While he didn't bring all my shortcuts back (many of the links had been removed so they were effectively not pointing anywhere) in the time available, he did make sure that I could take care of this myself instead of paying him to do it. He was willing to stay and do the work if I wanted him to, but I chose to save the money and do this myself. While the work was being done, Adrian offered advise on anti-viral software, both free and paid, gave me his opinion on my computers remaining functional life, and discussed possible options for replacements depending on my budget and need. I want to make clear that he made no attempts at sales, but was just granting access to his experience and knowledge.

The blue screens/memory errors have stopped and our PC is functioning better overall. Chris was timely, helpful, and professional, and I'd definitely call Technical Reinforcements again if I run into another problem I can't figure out on my own.

Adrian came and helped me with two computers in the home. I was locked out of my laptop and he was able to help me get back in. He also helped with some printer problems and getting a scanner set up. He answered a lot of questions for me and instructed in the use of the scanner and using shortcuts to get where I needed to on the computer. I am very impressed with Adrian's courtesy, professionalism and patience.

What TR did very quickly would have taken me weeks of study to only partially understand!. very knowledgeable, and personable to boot. highly recommended...

On Friday, my 10 year old moved/deleted my itunes account. My 11 year old got it back, but my numerous playlists were missing. I left James an e-mail Friday evening, he responded that night and I had an appointment for Monday morning. He was right on time, very bright, courteous and professional. He was able to restore my precious playlists and set up my time machine to back up everything on an external hard drive so this won't happen again. In a couple of months, I am planning on having another visit from Technical Reinforcements, Inc. to help me clean up my computer and organize everything. I can't even tell you how completely satisfied I was with the visit and what seemed a huge crisis to me was averted and everything was restored. He also gave both my sons a few words of wisdom while he was here! Thank you James!

Adrian returned my initial call right away and I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. I ended up with three service calls over a two-week period. Each call went very well. Adrian is very good at explaining things so that I can understand. He told me what hardware to purchase prior to our appointments so that I had the needed equipment and he could complete the work right away. I am very helpless when my computers don't work and I am thrilled to have found a go-to person to call when I have issues. The prices are very fair and clearly explained on the website.

We found TRI on Angie's List and I sent them an e-mail. Adrian responded and we had a brief phone conversation about our issue - our home based external network hard drive was no longer functioning. The tricky part was that I thought the drive itself was Linux based (this is what I was told by a tech person I work with). Adrian stated he would come out, verify what the code base was, and go from there. Adrian came 15 minutes early and did a brief diagnostic. He saw the information and believed he could recover it - but warned us the data may be corrupt. It was up to us if we wanted to proceed further and incur more charges. If we wanted to go further, he would need us to purchase another hard drive either online or retail (he gave us some suggestions of brands and types - which were VERY reasonable) and we made a 2nd appointment for him to return. At the 2nd appt, Adrian managed to recover over 90% of our files and transfer them to our new hard drive! This was our life! And he gave us suggestions for how to protect our data in the future. This was a great experience. Here's the kicker. Before I called TRI, I had gone to a large electronics retailer (**** ***) that stated over the phone they could recover my data for $99 - $119 depending on the issue. When I arrived and they checked the hard drive, they told me it would have to be sent to their tech center - 3 weeks and a minimum of $500! Other data recovery "experts" gave me quotes of $300 and up. For under $150, I'd say I got and incredible bargain! Lastly, I've used a number of tech services at home and at work. I'm glad to have found TRI. They are very reasonable and - unlike most tech services I've used - don't tell me they can do something if they can't! I appreciate the honesty, the service, and the value. Hey TRI, look for some future referrals coming your way!

Was having a lot of trouble with my wireless Internet service and wireless printer. They came in, diagnosed the problem, and got both to work perfectly. I'd use them again and recommend this company to anyone with similar problems.

I was overwhelmed with the task of organizing the computer stuff my husband left behind after he died in 2009. Adrian was a god send. He knew exactly what I needed and was incredibly knowledgeable about Macintosh equipment. We're not quite done, but the end is in sight. He is great to work with. Highly recommended.

Chris arrived on time.He was very pleasant and professional.He knew what he was doing and fixed all the problems in 30 min.

Adrian came out explained the steps he planned to use in getting my system back into operation. We covered risks and steps he was taking to safeguard my data. He dug in to the issue, identified solutions and efficiently solved it. I'm up and running again.

The technician spent 1.75 hr in the home re-installing system software and debugging. Not only did the job go well, but information and advice was given regarding problems and solutions for future reference. No one wants to have computer problems, but if you have trouble these are the folks to call! This represented the kind of professionalism and service that is hard to find today. An excellent experience!

I contacted TRI about these items and I was referred to Chris. He was very helpful and friendly. I met him at a local convenient store and gave him my laptop and Windows 7 upgrade. He installed it as agreed upon and returned it the next business day to my office! He was communicative and did a great job on the install. I would definitely use TRI again and ask for Chris.

My four year old PC had slowed to a crawl and some programs would not load. I bought a "big deal" half price service from Technical Reinforcements, Inc. through Angie. This entitled me to up to two hours of service for virus removal for $75 (I called TR before I bought the deal for their assurance that they would do more than virus removal if necessary to solve my problem and they agreed). Adrian came to check my computer within a day of making the appointment. He tweeked the programs and performed some adjustments and ran some test programs. He thought that the the problem was with the hard drive but was unable to determine what was causing it. He consulted with James and they decided that James would come to take a second look. James spent two hours working on the computer and finally concluded that the Norton antivirus was overwhelming the hard drive. He erased the Norton and suggested that I install a freeware version of antivirus instead. This solved the problem! My old system is humming right along now and I am confident that I can squeeze some more life out of it. James also installed the programs which I had been unable to install. Both Adrian and James had lots of helpful advice. Although my pre-payment of $75 covered only up to two hours and they spent a total of three hours, James decided he would not charge me for the third hour. I sent him a check to compensate TR for the additional hour anyway--they earned the money.

I had excellent service and would highly recommend Technical Reinforcements to anyone in need of these type of services.

The company was very professional and competitive. I was so impressed with efficiency and knowledge/skill of the technican.

They gave a lot of extra advice and they were able to solve the problem.

It went well. I called them on Thursday and they were able to come to my house on Saturday morning which was nice because I work everyday. He was very punctual, went right to work and had the job completed in an hour and a half. He made sure I didn't have any other questions and told me to call if anything came up.

The TRI serviceman evaluated the problem, knew how to fix it, and was able to do so quickly. The computer has worked perfectly since. The nice thing about TRI is that they gave us a next day appointment, arrived on time, took care of the problem, showed me what was wrong and how to fix it in the future if it happened again, and their price was very reasonable. The Serviceman, Adrian Preston was professional and courteous.

This was a great experience from beginning to end. Adrian was very polite on the phone, arrived right on time, and was extremely professional and nice. I felt comfortable having him in my home. He took time to explain what he was doing all along the way, and he did not make me feel inadequate regarding how little I know about computers. He worked hard to fix what was wrong with my computer, and gave me some good suggestions for improving its performance in the future. Upon being told I was planning to purchase a new laptop, he gave me some great recommendations about where to go and what brand and type to get. I will definitely contact Adrian again if I have computer problems in the future.

My wife has a happy computer again! She had been complaining of slow response from her laptop, along with frequent "freezes". I had exhausted the basic repairs (running a "clean disk", defragmenting it, then swearing at the computer whenever it misbehaved), so figured it was time to call in a professional. I'll be honest - calling TI was totally a shot in the dark based on their reviews on Angie's List, and I had not idea of what to expect. I originally contacted the firm through their web site. They got back to me within an hour, put me in touch with their technician with the earliest availability, and had me scheduled for an in-home service call within a day. I can't even get my office IT department to respond that quickly...and they actually all report to me! Chris showed up precisely on time (and was worried that he might have been late because he's stopped for lunch). He was terrifically personable, set my wife's concerns at ease, listened very carefully to her description of the problem...all while running systems diagnostics on the computer. He has a true talent for explaining very technical activities in a way that is easy to understand (and making sure that they are understood). He had identified the problem within about 15 minutes, and proceeded to offer up a couple of solutions, based on how my wife uses her computer. He experimented with a couple of them to make sure that they served the need (still explaining what he was doing in a very clear manner), and settled on a very nice blended solution of streamlining some start-up settings, changing a couple of system pathways, and resetting the browser used by the email program(s). Nice, elegant solution - that is completely transparent to my wife....she still uses the computer the way she always has. And it's faster than when it was new.... BTW: Chris also speaks hard core "geek" with the best of them. I asked him about a couple of possible hardware enhancements to the laptop, and he *really* knows hardware! And he was finally able to explain the difference between the different RAM types in a manner that made sense to me. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again....and they got back with me the day after the service to make sure that everything was good.....*that's* a bunch of people who care about their work.

Technician was prompt (arrived early) very professional and courteous. Work was completed to our satisfaction in one hour. Tech did everything to limit costs by working quickly and efficiently, but went a little fast so that I couldn't always follow and learn from what he was doing, a delicate balance! Made good recommendations which we followed through on.

I got everything I expected and more! He was the most impressive professional I ever hired.
