Didn't use them. Went with someone else.
Description of Work: Asked for a phone estimate for a new water heater and flue liner. The receptionist said they charge $79.XX for an in-person estimate which is applied to any purchase. I told her I knew exactly what I wanted and I simply wanted to get pricing even if it was a ball park figure. They simply won't do it. I refuse to do business with a company who charges for an estimate. I don't like feeling coerced into buying a product simply because I've been charge an unreasonable fee for the opportunity to provide them business.

WE ARE A SERVICE COMPANY AND DO NOT DO ANY PRICING OVER THE PHONE WITHOUT SEEING THE PROJECT. I AM CONFUSED AS TO WHY WE WOULD RECEIVE AN "F" ON ANGIE'S LIST BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER DID NOT LIKE OUR POLICY. WE HAD A CUSTOMER WHO CALLED IN FOR A PRICE ON A NEW BOILER HE WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND HE ALSO ASKED FOR A BALLPARK QUOTE. HE, HOWEVER, CHOSE TO HAVE US OUT, AND INSTEAD OF A NEEDING A NEW BOILER AT A COST OF ANYWHERE FROM $5,000 TO $8,000, HIS BOILER ONLY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THIS IS JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF WHY WE DO NOT THROW OUT RANDOM PRICES OVER THE PHONE.

The work was done efficiently and the repairman was pleasant and seemed to know what he was doing. I've had very little plumbing work done before and so was shocked at the cost.

He was two hours late and he didn't call, this was during a snow storm, but I would have appreciated a call. He wasn't apologetic for being late. He wanted to replace the water heater and duct work, when all we needed was a small valve replaced.

It went okay, it was just a lot of money for a combination gas valve & thermocouple. But we were sellng the house & felt we had to get it done, so we went ahead.
Description of Work: They identified & marked leak above the valve going into the regulator. The valve & thermocouple were replaced, which involved a return visit by a pipefitter who actually did the repair. It wound up being a very expensive gas leak repair.

Soderlin checked my system. The serviceman determined that my furnace really needed a cleaning, and that since I hadn't drained my water tank (that feeds the radiators) in a while, I should have that done that on top of the cleaning. I asked if that was hard to do and he said that "that's why we're professionals." He cleaned the furnace and said that it wasn't in bad shape at all. Then he proceeded to take a hose, hook it up to the tank, and drain the tank into a bucket. Then, I believe, he filled the tank back up. That's it. He was condescending, and I think he implied that I needed a service when I didn't. I felt had.

Although we were grateful to get the leak fix, the price seemed quite high for a simple replacement of a section of pipe. The service provider was there less than 2 hours which is almost $250 per hour, and I still have to replace the drywall that was cut out.

The upside was they found a way to make a smaller hole in our wall vs. other bids, however that was it. The work was completed and seems to be fine, but it was done with very limited information and not a great attitude. The pricing was what they said it would be, but they did the absolute minimum. I was very disappointed as I was concerned about damage to our vintage tile and of course that is what happened. I think they should have put down towels in case the tile did come off so it could be repaired, but they didn't - even after I told them I was concerned about it. We were not offered a choice of fixtures. They apparently have standard stuff they use and that's it. There was very little flexibility, just a get in and get out attitude. If you have an older home and are looking for a good resource for plumbing, this is not the company to hire - or at least request someone who likes to work on older homes. Maybe fine on basic jobs, but we won't hire them again.
Description of Work: Our tub faucet was leaking in our newly purchased 1933 home. They replaced the pipes, added shut off valves and put in new fixtures. Not a good experience. And, their prices were really high on a few other things we had them look at. Either they were too daunting or just didn't want to do the work. I will look elsewhere for someone who does.

NO MATTER WHAT AGE OF HOME, WE GIVE THEM ALL THE SAME TYPE OF CARE. WE ALSO DO NOT GIVE PRICES IF WE DO NOT WANT TO DO THE WORK. THE TECHNICIAN WENT OVER THE JOB WITH HER HUSBAND AND EXPLAINED THAT HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE TILES WOULD NOT BREAK BUT HE WOULD DO HIS BEST. UNFORTUNATELY SOME TILES FELL OFF, THIS WE FOUND WAS BECAUSE OF THE LEAK THAT HAD OCCURRED. WE HAD COVERED THE TUB TO PROTECT IT BUT THE TILES STILL BROKE. WE TOLD THE CUSTOMER THE FIXTURES WE CARRY OR IF THAT WAS NOT SATISFACTORY WE COULD EXPLORE OTHER OPTIONS. WE ARE SADDENED THAT THIS CUSTOMER HAS CHOSEN TO BADMOUTH OUR COMPANY AND REPUTATION BASED ON FALSEHOODS. JASON ARENDT, CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER

They charge a $59 fee for the estimate, but the plumber walked me though out what needed to be done and priced it out with and without breaking out the concrete. I broke out the concrete and save about $300. That seems a bit steep to break the concrete, but he show me how far to break it out, not a problem.

The estimate of $677.00 seemed too high for the work requested. He stated it would be about a 2 hour job. I paid the $59.00 charge for him to come out and hired another plumber to do the job for less than half of Soderlin's estimate.

They (like almost all plumbers) charge to walk through the door. he gave me the estimate for the work. Soderlin works on a per job not per hour schedule. He was there a little less than 2 hours, so the job came out to $410/hr (not including the 10% discount!) The sink works, but I could have had it done for $300 or less if I had gone with a plumber that charges by the hour.

They were able to come the same day I called, within a couple of hours. He evaluated the problem and I thought the price was a little high. The access to the area where the pipe was, was very difficult to reach. It took 3 attempts and about 3 hours to seal the the leaking pipe, but it finally worked and after almost four weeks I have seen no sign of recurrence of the leakage.

It went very smoothly, everything as we had originally discussed. Excellent job with everything. Excellent communication. I have not had this kind of customer service in a long time. Amazing. I would hire them again in an instant to do anything related to plumbing/heating/air conditioning. An awesome company. And I was able to use a 10% off coupon through Angie's List to save quite a bit of money!
Description of Work: I had Mark G. from Soderlin come out, give me an estimate on having several things fixed (a basement drain dug up and plugged, mainline drain re-done, a toilet replaced, and my old boiler furnace/radiator heat serviced). Mark was wonderful. He answered all my questions and helped me figure out what made sense to do in my old house. We were able to schedule the work within a week.

A leaky toilet led me to call based on ratings on Angie's List. Decided to have them look at other items as described. Called on Wednesday. They asked when would I like for them to come. I suggested Friday morning. They said fine and gave me a two hour window. Explained the visit would cost $69 before any work was done and they would give a written estimate on each item before asking if they should proceed. On Thursday I had to change the time to Friday afternoon, which they gladly changed. On Friday they called before coming and arrived on time. They checked all four items and gave estimate as follows: toilet - $139; faucet - $338 (later doubled est. before proceeding); chimney cap - 269 (he did not have the cap with him even though they knew that was one of the items); water heater - had no idea what was making the sound so no estimate was provided. I said to proceed with toilet only since cost for one hour faucet install (his est.) at $600 was to high.
Description of Work: Asked them to fix a leak in the water line to a toilet, check on noises the water heater was making, install a kitchen faucet and put a cap on the water heater chimney. Only the toilet work was actually performed as described below.

When Ethan first came, he came the day that I called, which helped a lot, even if I had to wait a bit for the actual work. I wasn't sure how the estimate got to be what it was, since I was very tired (I had just returned from a trip). I called Jason, who called me back and broke down the costs: labor, overhead, and materials. He said that he knows they aren't cheapest, but stand by their work. Ethan and Mike worked professionally and hard, and cleaned up after themselves. Then Ethan walked me through what was done when they were finished. The toilet replacement seemed small for the space, but seems to function well. The work has been inspected by the city and now meets code.
Description of Work: Ethan came to check why water was leaking from my bathroom to my kitchen through the roof. He tore the roof, found a lead pipe, and gave me an estimate that day. He and Mike came back about 4 days later to replace the entire stack pipe with one that met code requirements and didn't leak. They had to make holes in two walls in addition to the kitchen ceiling. Both worked hard, were professional, and got the job done in a day. I was happy with their work.
