Description of Work: Would absolutely recommend Tech Toads to anyone with computer problems. When my home computer wouldn't turn on I feared the worst that I'd be dealing with a dead computer and a loss of all my files. Within 48 hours of dropping my computer off it's back and running like new. They were able to offer suggestions to improve the way it performs and fix some issues I didn't even know I had. And they are lovely to deal with--they call to confirm what they have found and explain in non-technical terms how to resolve the issues. BIG fan--they have my future business.

Dan returned my inquiry call promptly and established a time to come to the house to review systems and needs. We had purchased a new system that required moving two older systems into new locations and installing new connections and software. There was so much work that Dan was not able to complete the task within the given time. However, he completed the job by connecting to the systems virtually, saving him a house call and allowing us to work at full capacity.
Description of Work: Dan Patrin, owner, installed hardware and software to three systems, enabling all to work safely and at top speed.

2+ years ago we bought a Dell - Media Edition and took out a service contract on it. We had experienced problems with it off and on and it was extremely frustrating working with Dell for repair. When we began having problems again, we had took the computer in to another computer shop. After two weeks they still had not made a diagnosis. We contacted Dan at Tech Toads based on positive reviews on Angie's List. He agreed to take a look at the computer and suggested meeting at a location more in between us the next day (a Thursday). He quoted a price around $150 to run the diagnostics and "clean it up". By Monday, he came back and had determined it was a bad driver and possibly bad RAM memory. He replaced the memory board and reloaded the driver and had it running and back to us by the following Tuesday. During this time, Dan worked with Dell (as best he could) to get it working again. Unfortunately, when we got it home, it went out again. Both my husband and I work on computers and are well aware that you can never be sure of what may be causing issues, so we were not surprised it still had some kind of bug. We took it back to Dan at which point he started an in depth probe into what was causing the "blue screen" errors and shutdown. He was very diligent about finding the true cause of our problem. Because the computer was still under the service contract with Dell and being a Dell reseller, he was able to work (as frustrating as it is) with them and determine it was ultimately a bad hard drive. He ordered the drive, installed it and got the computer running again and only charged us an additional $89. His dedication to this project is greatly appreciated and we will be using him to maintain our computer. Thank you Dan!

Dan was willing to meet me in strange places like parking lots to pick up my computer and then was also willing to stop by where I work to pick up additional program disks that he needed. Because the routing worked OK, he dropped off the computer when it was finished, saving me another trip. He kept me informed about the work that needed to be done and let me know what it would cost. I was willing to invest the money to keep the computer going for a few more years.
Description of Work: I was having trouble with my Internet browser so I called Dan Patrin of Tech Toads for help. Dan discovered all sorts of other issues, including not having installed a series of Microsoft Service Packs, which meant my computer operating system was pretty outdated. He also found a serious Trojan Horse that would have created some interesting issues for me. He increased my computer's memory (wish he could do the same for me) and made a number of other adjustments designed to help the computer work more efficiently.

At first I was wary about someone remotely "in my computer". But it was very professional and a script was provided indicating all procedures performed. The technician was professional. I concluded this was safer than bringing my computer in a store as they also get into it. With Tech-Toads I could watch what they were doing. Again, the improvement is dramatic. They got rid of all sorts of junk and problems. They even adjusted my security settings to what I wanted and ran the appropriate Windows upgrades which I don't know how to do.
Description of Work: Contacted over the Internet and they ran programs to optimize computer performance by adjusting settings, ran virus and spyware elimination programs and loaded anti-virus software. The computer became very slow and now it is like new.
