I called on a Friday afternoon and was able to set up an appointment for first thing Monday. The service tech showed up within the promised time frame, and was able to quickly diagnose the issue. We knew the torsion springs needed to be replaced but had some concerns about the noisy operation of the garage door. He offered a couple of options, but recommended replacement of the cables since they were rusty and a potential source of trouble down the road. He completed the work in about an hour by replacing all the necessary parts and lubing the door. The garage door now works as if it was brand new. The company was offering a special coupon through Angie's List for replacement of two torsion springs which was a nice bonus. Travel charges were $72 out of the total cost (for southern Scott county), which seems a little excessive, but the quality and promptness of their work was excellent.
Description of Work: Called Metro Garage Door to repair a broken torsion spring, and had them check out the operation of the garage door while they were here. They replaced the torsion springs as a pair, and also replaced the original 10-year-old cables which were rusty.

I made a call to them in the morning and they were able to make the repairs that same day, no extra charge for same day service. They did a great job! Both springs were replaced and the rollers were oiled. Door works better than it had previously.

We called that morning and even though we were unable to be at home, they were out to look at and repair the door that day. We had no contact with the service man, but the person at the office was very friendly and accommodating. When we arrived home, the door worked and the service man had left an explanation of what he had done. Very good experience and we would definitely use them again. We mistakenly paid the bill twice, by credit card and then mailing a check. They were very prompt in returning the check with a nice note attached to it.
Description of Work: The door would not close all the way before going back up again, as if the safety device were being triggered. The garage door photo cells needed replacing.

I initially called with a problem. The guy was out within an hour which was fabulous. He ran through the repair options and costs. I elected to have the door replaced rather than repaired. The only thing I would say, I would have appreciated more communication with regards to when the door was going to be installed. The people who came to my house were great and professional and did a great job, but I was surprised at the lack of communication on the customer service side of things. I had to initiate the contact, the provider did not.

Perfect. Called late on Thurs. They arrived as they said at 8:30am the next morning. Courteous. Cleaned up/hauled away everything. Everything works great! Another Plus ... They offered me a Home & Garden Show Special Deal which they didn't have to mention, especially knowing I needed an ASAP repair. Since I had called 2 other companies first, I knew this special price was going to save me $75-100 and included a keypad which the others didn't. NICE.
Description of Work: Replaced existing single garage door opener (w/2 remotes) and added a keypad.

It went well. I called them on a Tuesday and set up an appointment for Thursday morning. The person who came was on time. He diagnosed the problem quickly (problem with the opener) and went to work. The actual labor and parts were pretty affordable. I think it was the service charge/travel charge that was more then the labor and parts combined, which I didn't quite understand since they are located only about six blocks from where I live. At any rate, the garage opener is fixed and works properly now.
Description of Work: Our garage door wasn't opening, and they fixed the opener.

My wife tried closing the garage with a shovel lodged in the track, which ended up getting the cable off the reel and made the door jump the track and get wedged in the garage. It was a Friday night at 6pm, so we called Metro and they explained their Emergency policy: $150/hr with a 2 hr. minimum. We couldn't leave the door hanging mangled so we called them out. Jon was the tech, and he came out right away. He was in very good spirits for spending his Friday night with us. He spent two hours pounding on the door/rails and scratching his head trying to figure out what happened, but in the end we were lucky and nothing major was broken.
Description of Work: Jon came out at 7pm on a Friday night and got our mangled garage door back on track. He pounded the heck out of it, and we ended up not needing any major new parts or a new door.

The one 'B' I gave was because the service provider was a little bit grumpy when he first got here, but it was a very cold morning and I was the first call of the morning. I think it was certainly understandable.

I called in the morning and they said they could be here between 2-4. They came at 4:00, explained to me the cost difference of replacing 1 spring (that was broken) and all of them at once. Because all springs are on a similar "life span" I chose to go with replacing them all. He quickly did the job and the cost was actually a little less than estimated.

I called on a Saturday morning and repairman came out first thing Monday morning and got the job done quickly. He recommended replacing both springs, since if one broke, the other probably would go soon, too, plus Metro had an Angie's List coupon for $20 off for placement of two springs.
Description of Work: I came home to find my garage door spring had broken, so the garage doors wouldn't open. I called Metro on Saturday morning, and the person said he had several jobs ahead of me but he would try to get out that day. He didn't come out on Saturday, but was at my door at 8 a.m. Monday to replace the springs. I had used Metro before when a garage door cable broke and I had a good experience with the company then, too.

The appointment was kept on time and the installation went smoothly. We had some subsequent problems with the door that required us to call Metro to come out 3 additional times for adjustment. After complaining to the company, they researched the problem and the owner, Doug Robinson called me personally to explain the situation to me (it had to do with the unevenness of our garage floor). All of my contacts with this company have been professional and efficient and there is good follow-through. I would definitely use them again.

In a wicked cold snap, one of the torsion springs above my garage door cracked in half - with my car trapped inside. Metro was very busy so the soonest they could schedule someone to get to me was three days later and they could only give me a six hour time range so I had to arrange for someone to be here because I had to go to work. The springs were replaced in pretty quick fashion and my car was liberated from the garage. And somehow the new torsion springs have stopped the problem of the garage door popping open again if there's a little snow on the ground.

The work was terrific! They came within an hour after my call to them. The man diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced a worn out part, which he had with him. The work was completed in about 45 minutes. After he left, I discovered that the remote openers were not working and called the company. He returned within 15 minutes and re-set the number combination.

Called Ridge on the day before Christmas to come and fix my garage door, which I'd bent out of shape after backing into it. (A lot of things on my mind before the holiday!) Frankly, I called Ridge after reading their Angie's List feedback, and so I'm recommending both the company AND the list here. Ridge sent someone to my door within two hours, and the very courteous guy *fixed the door* so that it would work temporarily while a new door was ordered. And on the day after Christmas, the new door was brought in and installed, with all traces of the old door removed. One additional note: I noticed that part of the trim was looking as if it might pull from the bottom of the door, so I called Ridge to see if we could proactively prevent a future problem; they had the same kind guy at my house within the hour, and he fixed it to the degree that I don't expect my husband to ever have to do anything other than occasionally oil the new hinges. Great, great company!

very fast response and very quick fix. It was in disrepair, and needed a nut/bolt in the rail. Our guy also lubed up the tracks and timed the machine. Trip charge was $40 and labor was $72, he fixed everything under an hour.

From the moment the individual got to my house he started to sell me on buying a new garage door opener. I told him that my garage door opener was working fine but that I'd rather fix the chain. He mentioned to me that it may take him a long time to fix the problem and that I may end up paying just as much or close to the amount of a new door opener. To my surprise, less than 10 minutes later he came over to tell me that he was finished, he charged me 100 and was gone. I decided to check if the door did in fact work and to my chagrin, it didn't. We called right back and to their credit, he was back in our house in less than half an hour. He did mention he had forgotten to connect the bottom half of the chain. We left it at that but a week later the chain came undone again. We called in and they refused to come back out to warranty their service. We weren't against buying a new system but we'd like for someone to explain exactly why and not feel like we're being pushed.

I was nervous at first because he said I would need new parts and it would probably cost $500 to fix. But then after he got on the ladder and looked at the parts he realized we only needed a new cable and an adjustment. My husband thought the cost was too high, but I thought it was OK.

Our garage door was opening/closing very slowly and making horrendous noise due to door shifting side to side in its tracks. I called, had someone out and had the problem fixed in less than 2 hours. The tech was courteous, quick, and honest. Warned me about some things to watch for with this door/opener combination, which is very low end and was installed (not very well) by the previous homeowner. He let me know future options/prices should I call this company again, but did so in a businesslike manner with no sales pitch, pressure, etc. Told me straight out that this door should be fine for the foreseeable future (at least until the spring gives out, at which point I will likely replace the spring and possibly door too). Price included a full lube of drive chain and bearings as well as installation of some washers on both sides to keep the door/rollers from wandering so much in the track.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot, adjust/fix and lubricate noisy garage door on 2-car garage.
