Standard single stall garage door install. Everything went pretty much to plan but the initial price was high. Negotiated price down but I always wonder why a company can lower their price so signficantly from the initial bid. Why not a more reasonable price in the first place? Install went fine but installer didn't bring final trim pieces. (Why not??) Didn't tell me until I asked him about it before he left. (Why not??) Told me he would bring it back the next day. Didn't bring it back until I called several days later. Not a big deal but one of those details that leave a slightly negative feeling to a really simple project. I'd still work with them in the future depending on the price. All else equal I might choose another vendor.

Our old garage door opener stopped working in early January. Ridge Door had a competitive price, and was able to come out within a day to replace it. The new one works great - very happy with the product and the service.

Everything went well. We did have to get additional services, as a bracing bar was not up to code. They were able to replace it immediately, as they had the parts available on the truck.

I was pleased with their work. They seemed pretty kind and courteous over the phone but I was not home when they came for the work.

My garage door opener was not operating right. It wouldn't stay closed and also was opening and closing very slowly and sometimes it didn't even open. Called Metro Garage Door Co. and they came out when it was good for me and gave me some options. My garage door was very old (1924 house and garage) and I wanted to get a new one since my old one was warped and rotting. So, I opted to get a new opener and door. The company responded very quickly and always called or came when I was told they would. Very professional and helpful. Both technicians were knowledgeable and very helpful and nice. Very happy with my new door and opener and with the experience!

When calling for service, they offered to come out the next day, but I needed the appointment a bit further out. The day of service the technician was exactly on time, took the time to understand the issues, and performed the work quickly. The tech extremely personable, professional, and knowledgeable The experience really surpassed my expectations - I was elated that the 'broken' opener was repairable.

Everything went fine except when he finished...he told me the lift was at least 15 years old and would need to be replaced. The lift is only three years old. He just happened to have lifts on sale and would be glad to replace it at a discount. I thought that was a little sleazy.

They solved the problem but I don't feel the did the 30 point check up because he wasn't here long. Overall, they were ok. I would use them again.

About two days ago we discovered why our garage door had gotten so noisy - a broken tension spring. After determining this was not a DIY repair, I came to Angie's List to look for recommendations. Based on the reports submitted, I chose Metro Garago Door Co. I called this morning, around 10:00 AM, and the gal who answered the phone was very nice and professional. She explained that someone could come out between 12-5 TODAY, which I thought was great. She asked if I wanted a call when the tech was on the way, and sure enough, I got a call when he was on his way. When he arrived, he saw the problem right away and told me he'd get to work and it would be around 20-30 minutes. His time estimate was right on, he replaced both springs, and also looked over our other garage door components and said all else appeared to be just fine. It's apparent to me this company is interested in providing excellent customer service. Everyone I spoke to at Metro Garage Door Company was polite and professional, they did what they said they'd do, and got the job done perfectly.

Metro Garage Door came out the next day at 9AM, after our phone call. The gentleman diagnosed the problem, and said he could put in a new part for $225, but could not guarantee other parts would last in the unit as it was 12 years old. He gave us the option of installing a new unit for $475.00. We chose the latter and he had finished the job in around 2 hours. The door is perfect and he added a key pad, plus battery back up for no extra charge.

The garage door stopped opening, but the opener was still working. One of the torsion springs had broken. The door is custom made double-wide and is extremely heavy. They needed to special order the replacement springs. Randy came the same day I called and then came back two days later when he had the parts. He listened very carefully to our concerns, told us his professional opinion about everything, suggested we buy a new opener through him, but did not push it too hard. He was very informative and pleasant to work with.

Work was completed quickly and repairperson explained why the cable had become detached and how to prevent this from happening in the future. This was useful information to have.

When I called Metro, they offered to send someone out the same day. However, we could not fit into their schedule. The came out the next day. I was not available, but my wife was home. She was pleased with polite manner and explanation of the problem, solution and price. The garage door was functioning well when I came home from work and continues to work very well.

One of the support cables on our garage door broke on and the door couldn't be closed. We called them first thing the next morning and they had a service technician there within two hours. He replaced both cables and inspected the other components of the door and was done within 45 minutes. We've used Metro before and will use them again.

We had an old door. Our first call was an emergency, both cars trapped inside, beginning at night. Their answering service took the call and a tech came out next day & made the repair fast! Our second problem was a broken spring, but by then we were ready to replace the whole, tired thing. Metro's tech did a temporary repair to the spring and wrote up the order for the new door, basically giving us the service call at no charge. When the new door came in, they called and were able to set up installation for the next day. Even though our old garage is leaning and pitching every which way and it took Tom nearly six hours to finish, the charges came in at the contracted price. Great service, fine workmanship, pleasant, professional people! Highly recommended!

Excellent experience. The price was exactly what they quoted over the phone. They showed up when they said they would, quickly made the repair, and met all expectations.

I was able to have them come the day after I called which was great. The service was great. He told me all the options of repairing the garage door opener versus buying a new one. In about 15 minutes, he replaced the parts.

The office is professional and a tech was able to come on the same day of the call. The tech was polite, professional and got to work quickly. My issue is really only with the price and the way the repair was handled. The office said the problem was not possible to confirm by phone (doubtfully true, since the tech could the moment he arrived) and that I'd be charged for the visit plus time and materials. After the job was done, the tech said it was a flat rate, not time and materials. Since he did the job in around 20 minutes and the cost of materials were never provided, I believe I paid too much. After the job was done, I checked Angie's list again for this specific job and found another vendor who charged $125 for the service, which is more in line with what I assumed to be the case given the office's summary of charges.

It was below zero when he came out. Very professional and knowledgable. Garage door operate so smooothly now.

Very well. We called on Monday, they showed up on Tuesday within the time window the gave us and fixed the problems. They were courteous, efficient and did what they said they would do.

I already turned in a bad report on this company, but the saga continues. I have tried to get my garage door fixed, and it is still not working well. On the first trip, 1/9/2009, they said the cables were rusted and replaced them. They were late in arriving. I had waited from 8-12 noon and they got there at 12:30. I had received a call saying they were on there way at 10:30 and they arrived 2 hours later. A week later the door still did not work properly. It opened and closed very rough and squealed. They came back and replaced a part in the garage door opener, saying that when the door broke, it put too much work on the opener. The door still did not open properly and had a high pitch squeal. I called again right away that Friday because I did not want to burn out my opener. They took a message, and said someone would call me back. Two days later I got a return call (on a Sunday) saying they did not do warranty work on the weekend. I continued to manually open my door, but it was very tough. The following Friday, I still could not get a return call. I called again and they scheduled the technician to come on Monday. They told me that if it was a different problem than they had already been out for, I would have a new trip charge. This would not make sense to me, as I have paid to have them out twice so far, and the door still does not work the way it should. Once again I was to miss work and waited from 8-noon. At 11:23 they called saying the technician was on his way. I was unable to answer the phone quickly enough and missed the call. Just 11 minutes later at 11:32 I called them back and asked how long it would be before they arrived. I spoke with Larry. He told me the technician had called and said he was on his way forty five minutes earlier. A lie, as my cell phone logs the calls and it was 11 minutes earlier. He said they had already been to my home and left. Still another lie. The doorbell never rang. Now they want me to reschedule for next Thursday and miss my 4th half day of work in 3 weeks. In the meantime, my door still does not work. I would not recommend this company.
