He didn't try to sell me any needless parts or services. He was very professional and thorough. My door sounds like new. I will use Metro Door again and will definitely recommend them to my friends.

After assessing the situation, it was clear that the old openers needed to be replaced (repair would have been costly, so we decided to get better quality openers for our 2 garage doors).The service person (Steve) did a great job installing the new tracks, keyless entry unit and openers. Where the old rails were not attached securely, he put in wood pieces and anchored all the new hardware to the garage frame. The new units work beautifully, and we are happy with the result.
Description of Work: Tightened springs and lubricated wheels, balanced the doors to open manually more easily. Removed old track and opener (2 units), reinforced all connections for hardware so nothing wiggles, got rid of old hardware and debris. Installed new openers and drive tracks, keyless entry panel, and showed us how everything works, including security code updates.

+ -1 moreThis company offered a special through Angies List for garage door check & maintenance for $59 (a great deal). I scheduled the service and he came out timely. He spent some time looking over the door and mentioned some points for me to watch (we have an older garage door). As he checked the door opener he showed me where to oil along the track then showed me that the cables were rusting (quite significantly, actually) and suggested (without pushing) that we have those replaced before they wear through. He quoted me a price then reduced the price by the Angies List deal so the final additional amount for the cable replacement would be $109 and he was able to compete the work right then and there! I was very impressed overall with the service and would definitely call them again.

The workman called when they said he would and showed up perfectly on time. An estimate was given on the ground and everything that would be done was clearly explained. The repair was done quickly. I wrote a check and was quite pleased overall.

+ -1 moreWe were very pleased with the service provided We had trouble with our garage door not fully opening or closing Monday night On Tuesday morning, I called Metro and they sent someone to our house out that same morning At first the tech serviced our opener and that worked a few times but then failed again The tech performed a few more checks and then recommended a replacement He didn't have one in his truck but went and got one and returned within the hour My wife had to leave him in the midst of the installation but all was completed by the time she got back The new opener works great and and is much quieter than our old one All work completed and cleaned - no traces of his presence except the opener manual and two new remotes and the invoice We've lived in our house 12+ years so I'm guessing our old garage door opener was at least 17 years old The tech was very professional and friendly and we believe made every effort to repair our old opener before recommending a replacement A very definite and strong recommendation for Metro

+ -1 moreKevin arrived on time and within one hour he had my door and opener working like new. I couldn't be more pleased, especially since he tightened the opener so it lifts the door above the frame. Now my van clears the top without having to manually push the door up.
Description of Work: This was a garage tune-up that I purchased with an Angie's List coupon. I have a wood flush double garage door with extension springs and a Genie screw drive opener. The service technician (Kevin) did a thorough maintenance and safety check. Also my door had not been going all the way up above the frame since 2009 and he even fixed that. The company that installed the opener in 2001 came to my home in 2009 and told me that it could not be fixed because the opener was too old. I should have used Angie's List since I was charged $90 with no satisfactory results. The Metro Garage Door Company certainly deserves their high rating, at least from my experience.

+ -1 moreI called to Metro Garage Door because it is rated very highly in Angies list. In fact it is one of the two top rated services in the category of garage door service. I picked up Metro Garage Door simply since my place is closer to Golden Valley where the Metro Garage Door is located. They give me the time window that the service man can show up to my place, which was between 2 to 4 pm. The service man called me at about 12:50 pm and said he is on his way to my place. I had to leave my work unexpectedly earlier. He said that the problem is the gear and sprocket assembly has worn out. He fixed it and I paid $234. Later on after he left, I called several other services to see how much other services charge for the same service. I called two services and they charge between $130 to $150. Overall, I was not happy with their schedule management and the service price.
Description of Work: My garage door didn't close completely. It automatically reopened after it hit the ground.

+ -1 moreThe service man they sent this time was late and did not follow my instructions. We had one door requiring servicing but when I returned to check on his work he had worked on BOTH doors! One door now had a gap on the top when closed, while the other was crooked. The bill was about $150. He went on and on about how they could install new doors for us, which is probably needed, but he was on the job to service our existing ones. Two months later I had to call them out again, at an additional fee of $93, as the sensor was tripping.
Description of Work: I used Metro Garage three times: 6/6/2007 10/8/2010 12/10/2010 First time was great, but after my experience with them last fall I will never call them again. We had some work done on our garage so the door needed to be adjusted. This is the second time they had been out to service THE SAME garage door. 6/2011 The Garage door that was already serviced the last two times, FELL! The cables snapped. This happened just as I had backed out and pressed the button to close it. Can you imagine if this happened while I was underneath it? It little happened inches from the front of the car. 7/2011 A representative from the company calls about the negative Angie's list report. What's funny is that they only have record of service from the first & last time they came by, not the 2nd time, when the service person actually screwed everything up. Metro Garage Door is convinced it was not them who showed up to the 2nd instance, even though I said we have 3 service stickers up on our garage, all with different dates and different handwriting from different service people. They also wanted us to fax over all the receipts to prove it. I will prove it. 7/2011 We are working with Metro Garage to resolve our negative encounter. We do have an old garage and old doors which require a lot of attention -- I can not attribute the broken cable to poor service. I'm willing to give them a second chance and will update this review based on that outcome.
