LaMettry's Collision

Over a year ago, my vehicle was towed to LaMettry's Collision in Eden Prairie after a woman ran a red light and hit the right rear side of my SUV going 40 mph causing my right rear tire to come off. The woman's insurance company, Travelers, accepted fault for the accident . I requested early on I wanted only OEM parts and Travelers agreed. Ten weeks later, I finally received a call my vehicle was ready for pickup. While doing the final walk through with a LaMettry's employee, I immediately noticed a large dent on the hood of my SUV. This surprise could have been eliminated had my wish to be present when Kent, the Traveler's claim specialist had his first look at my vehicle. That request was ignored by both Travelers and LaMettry's. Both Travelers and LaMettry's basically called me a liar about the dent not being there before the collision. I was told I needed to show them a picture of my vehicle the day before the crash to prove otherwise!!! After MUCH effort on my part and blurry pictures supposedly taken by Kent showing the dent wasn't there after the collision, LaMettry's finally agreed to pay for the labor if I paid for the material. WHAT A DEAL!!! Fast forward to March 2019 (about a year after the repair) and my SUV starts making a loud noise. CARspec immediately diagnosed the noise as coming from the rear differential and less than a cup of differential fluid inside. Because of this low differential fluid and more than likely what I found out from my further research - LaMettry's used a rear axle and differential from a year older SUV that had been in a horrific crash to it's right side and sold as salvage with a broken odometer. What is even more disturbing is the rear differential on my SUV was not supposed to be replaced. I'm surmising they did so to save on the labor to remove my existing rear differential and attach to the junk yard donor rear axle. The LaMettry's invoice lists axle housing not axle assembly (which includes the differential). In trying to figure out why the differential would fail, I had LaMettry's send me the Vin number of the supposedly LKQ (LIKE KIND QUALITY) parts they used. They sent me the invoice which shows they purchased the rear axle ASSEMBLY (includes differential). I was totally shocked when I entered the VIN and up popped a picture of a severely damaged SUV sold as salvage. (See picture of white donor SUV and my Gray SUV after crash with wheel temporarily put back on.) Would you believe (common business practice known as "GET CORE") LaMettry's sold my bent rear axle and likely 100% perfect condition rear differential back to the salvage parts supplier for $300 where it was/will in all likelihood be resold to another unsuspecting victim. Travelers and LaMettry's refuse to pay for the repair of the rear differential. They are going by their only possible recourse, blame the last shop that possibly touched the differential. I was told by LaMettry's that all oil changes should include checking the rear differential fluid. I found that to be a BIG LIE. They also tried to deceive me on the mileage of the donor parts SUV. The number under the part that looks like it could be the mileage is actually an interchange number. I found this out by calling the salvage parts supplier. However, I knew this couldn't possible be the mileage because I did a CARFAX report on the donor SUV. The last mileage listed for this vehicle was 49,124 on 4/27/2015. This was 2 year and 3 months before this vehicle was damaged beyond repair. CARFAX states they were averaging 22,582 miles a year putting their mileage over 101,000 miles at the time of its demise. My 2014 Land Cruiser was in perfect condition and had 81,163 miles on the odometer at the time of the collision. Not only was Like Kind Quality parts NOT installed on my vehicle but the part that failed was NOT suppose to be replaced and this replaced part was not listed on my invoice as being replaced. MAJOR ******!

Outstanding service! They stayed in touch with me while they had my car so I knew how things were coming along. The repair was perfect. I would never know there was damage.

The work was fine but it took weeks to get it done. There's no reason it should have taken that long.

The quality was great. We had to pay the deductible. It took them 6 weeks to do work other places would have done in 10 days.

We've had good experiences. It didn't cost us anything because it was covered by the other driver's insurance. They did a really nice job.

It took a little longer than expected but when I got it back the service was above and beyond. The workmanship was top shelf. I got the vehicle in better condition than when I dropped it off. They treated my car like it was a brand new car.

They completed the work and it was great. They had the car for a couple of days and that was it. I think they were competitive. I am pleased I’m holding my car. The workers are good. Everything was fine.

Handle did not get repainted. They were unable the repair a dent that they quoted to do the work. A partial refund was given.

It went well. Once the part needed came in, I was in and out within a couple hours.

I've used them several times in the past. They did exactly what they said they were going to do in the exact amount of time. They were really courteous.

La Mettry's was very professional. Stayed within the estimate given at the beginning of car repair. The work was outstanding! I would highly recommend them.

LaMettry's Collision was recommended by Audi Minneapolis to repair a damaged grill insert on my car. During inspection of the vehicle I mentioned to the advisor that I'd noticed some prominent scratches on my hood. He said it shouldn't be a problem to get them polished out. About 15 minutes later I was on my way with my grill insert installed, and the hood looking brand new. The entire experience was terrific and while I don't look forward to the day I need a body shop again, I'll definitely be thankful that LaMettry's will be there to help me out.
