Description of Work: Very knowledgable and the nicest IT person I have ever interacted with. Was willing to explain everything he was doing to the level of my understanding which is on the high side for most computer service clients. Made recommendations for future improvements to meet my small business needs which are highly specialized. Hiring good IT people is not cheap but he is the best one I have ever hired. I had him do networking set-up and backup to a home server and connect all the computers and printers to the network.

 + -1 moreContacted vendor by email on Friday. Got a call Friday and set up an appointment for the next day. The technician, Andrew, showed up, on time, on Saturday. He finished the job and called Sunday morning to set up a time to return it. He was prompt in returning the computer and waited until I turned the computer on and checked it to be sure it was working properly. The whole experience was quick, efficient and painless for me. The price for the hard drive was competitive. The price for the service might have been higher than if I took the computer in to a brick and mortar store but the ease of the service and convenience for me made this worth it.
Description of Work: Copied old hard drive and installed new hard drive.

Description of Work: I stepped away from the office and THE TECHNICIAN WALKED OFF THE JOB WITH SOFTWARE INOPERATIVE. When I asked the tech why hdid not update our email system as requested, HIS RESPONSE WAS, "I DON'T DO THAT". Um. OKAAAAAAAAAAAAY. So why the 5 STAR RATING, you ask?? Simple. The work was SUPERB up until the technician blew it. I have been in business for 20 years. Five workstations. Five IT companies over the years and always the same old thing: Familiarity breeds contemp. We want our technicain to be part of the family. We expect our technician to be prompt, do the job right, get paid and come back when we need him/her. After I returned from an appointment, I found that my accounting software and trade software would not boot up after an IT visit. Throughout the years it does get rather boring that IF I AM NOT HERE - the technician WILL NEVER SHUT DOWN AND REBOOT ON HIS OWN and about 50% of the time - that always presents a new issue. I asked the tech to come back and he did indeed return to the job but was surly and demeaning when I did not have answers to his questions. 'Where's this?? Where's that??" "I DO NOT KNOW". "Well why not? The answer should be obvious to you." "LOOK. WE HIRE AN I.T. PERSON TO FIX OUR I.T. ISSUES." And when my manager asked for our email to be updated, he said, "I DON'T DO THAT. CALL NETWORK SOLUTIONS AND ASK THEM TO WALK YOU THROUGH IT." Um. WHAT??? So there you go folks. Same old thing. Get the new guy ramped up and he throws the job away and reminds you that YOU are stupid. Well. He's right. I AM STUPID and that's why we hire a roofer to fix the roof, an A/C guy to fix the A/C, a transmission guy, an electrician, a plumber, AND YES... AN I.T. COMPANY because we do not know how to fix our computers. The owner of the company responded that the tech was "trying to save us money". Well. OK. Whatever you say, but equipment is still not right and we have to find a new company. Or in other words: BUSINESS AS USUAL IN DETROIT IN THE MIDDLE OF A DEPRESSION. Business owners in Detroit all know that you just can't make this up. It's just the way it is.

 + -1 moreThis company doesn't have a storefront so when I wanted to drop off my computer they referred me to a local shop who did the work on their behalf. All I needed was a fresh, bootable install of XP on my own hard drive so nothing out of the ordinary. $85 seemed a little pricy for that but I guess it's the going rate. I'm not sure if it would have been cheaper if Bientek wasn't the middleman. In the future I might consider them for a house call but not for this kind of job. I don't see the point of using a middleman to talk to a local shop.
Description of Work: My hard drive failed on my desktop so I had them wipe and install XP on my other drive.

 + -1 moreI thought they were great. They were very responsive. I do not call every day, but when I do call, the guy remembers who I am and where I am. He is very professional. He gets out in a reasonable amount of time. He is very good. He is cheaper than another company. I would trust him more than the other company. He does not do it all himself. He has people that he works with. He has a website. The last time I used him, I spent $300 for repairing my husband's laptop. I would hire him again.
Description of Work: I used BienTek for computer repair, seven months ago. I had a laptop that had some issues. Also, my system had picked up a virus that I could not get rid of. They got rid of that for me.

 + -1 moreI had a wireless router stop working on a Sunday afternoon. I also wanted to relocate a dsl modem and the wireless router from a second story office to the ground floor. I am disabled and no longer do stairs. I called Brian Monday morning and explained that I wanted a new router installed (I had been having occasional issues with the old one), and I needed a modem and the new router relocated. Chris was the technician who did the job. Chris worked around my scheduled Dr. appointment and came to the house around 6PM and did all that I had hoped for. Chris also stayed and made sure that my wireless printer was up and running after the hardware changes.
Description of Work: Delivered and installed a new wireless router and relocated the dsl modem and router to the ground floor of our home. These items had been on the 2nd level, but that has been a problem for me because I am disabled and can no longer use any stairs. Please note that the approximate cost includes the cost of an new wireless-n router.

 + -1 moreAfter five years the Windows XP OS on my Pavilion laptop became so corrupted that it suddenly failed to load. Best Buy told me I was facing a $100 charge just to diagnose the problem. I was also told that possible repairs to a functioning hard drive could run as much as $400. Of course, a new hard drive would run me more, plus $100 to transfer all the data. Basically, I was facing up to $700 - $800 in charges to let Best Buy repair my laptop. In desperation I searched Google for local laptop repair and came across Bien Tek. I called the firm on a Saturday morning. Within two hours a technician was at the house. He repaired the laptop within an hour. I asked for a RAM upgrade. As he hadn't brought compatible chips with him he asked if he could take it to the shop and look for the right chips online. Within five days he'd installed the new chips and returned the laptop to me at my home. So basically I ended up paying for two housecalls, repairs, and new hardware. I was totally pleased with this firm. I found the workers to be prompt, responsive, informative, and eminently reasonable. If you have a problem with your computer, call these guys.
Description of Work: Windows XP would not load. Technician came to my house and repaired the registry for a simple $65 service fee. I asked that he upgrade the RAM on my laptop. He took the computer to the shop in order to make certain that he ordered the correct memory chips online. Within five days he'd installed the new memory and returned the unit to my house, all for basically the cost of the memory alone.

 + 0 moreThis was a great experience! I found the company thru "The list" so I figured I'd try it. The service was very quick... I called and they sent someone out within a few hours. The tech was extremely professional and informative. I explained to them over the phone that I wanted to set up my Blu-Ray player so I was connected wirelessly to my home network. I told them I had a difficult time doing this and expressed a concern that I didn't want to be charged if they couldn't remedy my situation. I was advised that the total would be approx. $35.00 for a transportation cost if this was the case (if they could do it, it would be a flat $95.00... more if it was over an hour to do). To make a long story short, the tech came out, very professional, corrected the situation in about 20 minutes and that was it. The only thing was the price. $95.00 seemed a little high for the amount of work that was done. However, in all fairness, that's what was agreed upon before the service was provided and I don't think anyone could have done a better job.
Description of Work: I needed someone to come to my house and set up a Blu-Ray player wirelessly. I've attempted to do it myself multiple times without any luck.

 + -1 moreI called Brian at Bientek and explained the problem. Brian primarily handles software and programming issues, but he has another technician who handles hardware issues. We agreed that my problem was likely a hardware issue. Brian informed my that his hardware specialist had just left for a one week vacation. Because I could manage with the laptop for one week, I was OK to wait for his return. I received a call the day he returned, he came out to my home and picked up the laptop. He determined that the video cable needed to be replaced, ordered it, repaired the laptop and delivered the repaired machine to me. This all took about a week (waiting for arrival of the new cable was the control).
Description of Work: The screen on my HP laptop was intermittently losing power (the screen would go black). The Bientek technician came out and I was able to demonstrate the problem. A new video cable was installed and the problem was solved.
