 + -1 moreThe 2 men were very nice. They checked my other chimney for free. I didn't like how one of the men wore footies the first time he came in and didn't the second time...really made no sense and very disrespectful. He was very cocky and interrupted me many times as I talked. He didn't listen much to what I said because he said what I was saying. I stopped trying to talk to him, I was fed up. He seemed to like hearing himself and he had to be the one to say what you said. The other guy was very nice and explained things but I didn't like how he told me one thing and a couple of minutes later said another....made me wonder.

 + -1 moreOur last chimney sweep was done only from the inside so I was happy to have a contractor come out who would sweep both from the roof and inside. The angles of our multi-level roof and the sloped ground surrounding our home make it a difficult climb but there was no question that the Dr. Sweep technician would make it to the top of our chimney. After the sweep, the technician showed us a picture of the inside of our chimney and recommended deglazing it. His recommendation agreed with our personal concerns about the chimney so, after some quick online research of the process and the reason for doing it, we agreed to the deglazing and were very happy with the results. We can actually see and smell the difference in our chimney. We were also very appreciative of his long-term advice for avoiding that extra step in the future and feel confident the small additional fee was worthwhile. Overall we were very happy with the service we received from Dr. Sweep. Scheduling was a breeze and we were very happy with the technician's professionalism, cleanliness, and friendly demeanor. We will definitely call Dr. Sweep for future needs.

 + -1 moreThey were no good. They pushed through outside and knocked the vent out into the basement and pushed all the dryer vent into the basement. They never went down to rehook it up and left the pile of dryer lent down there and that was it. He really didn't do his job at all. Then we called and left a message too. Were talked to someone and they said they would get in touch with the owner, we never heard back.

 + -1 moreWe called Dr. Sweep on Thursday and an appointment was made for the following day, exceeding our expectation on availability. Dr. Sweep arrived on time, was very courteous, professional and personable. He got quickly to work and completed the necessary cleaning and inspection. He found some external areas that needed caulking and gave a reasonable price for the addtional service. We decided we'd do the caulking ourselves as it is something we are very capable of doing. He maintained a clean, orderly work environment and the job was finished in less than an hour. We're very satisfied and would recommend his service to others.

 + 0 moreIt was a Big Deal that we purchased. They did a good job. They were timely. The person that came out seemed knowledgeable and did a nice job of taking care of what we needed done. We had them come back for some more complex questions about our wood stove and we haven’t gotten answers to our questions yet. We do think we will use them again in the future but they haven't followed up on our questions.

 + -1 moreThe worker provided a courtesy call letting me know he was on his way. He arrived on time and while he got right to work, he spoke poorly of the previous customer and job he had just left. He struggled with lighting the gas insert and was planning on calling their "gas guy" for assistance when I showed him how to light it and got it lit. The worker seemed to have a lot of knowledge about the second fireplace which is a wood burner. He gave me tips on how the levers work and to ensure the wood burner runs efficiently. He was friendly and seemed to do a good job. However he lacked professionalism and was overly talkative, at times sharing too much about himself.

 + -1 moreFirst appointment: came out as scheduled but did not perform work as they did not have the right ladder to use for the second story (I still don't understand this as I told them its a two-story house). Said they'd call us to make another appointment, but they did not. I called them and set up second appointment. Was told the day before they'd be out between 1-4 pm; showed up at 9:30 am. Seemed to have done a decent job cleaning gutters; also paid extra for fixing gutters where nails had come out, but I'm sure I overpaid for this service. Thought I was getting downspouts cleaned out too but this wasn't done. Not sure that their advertising is correct because this was offered. First experience with Angie's list and I'm not thrilled so far.

 + -1 moreCalled on 12/23/11 and left message. Was called back in 20 minutes. We set the appointment for 12/27/11 between 10:00 and 1:00. Was called at 8:45 morning of 12/27 and asked if he could be there in 15 minutes. I agreed and he was there 20 minutes later. Workman who came out was courteous and professional. Did not make any mess. Cleaned and inspected the firebox and chimney and was gone in 1 hour. Made recommendation for future repairs that were advisable but not yet necessary.
Description of Work: Used the firm for cleaning and inspecting my wood burning fireplace and chimney. It was a special "deal" on Angies List.

 + 0 moreAn appointment was made for October 28th, and upon arriving at the house, they deemed the pitch of the roof to be too high and a roof jack would be needed. Several weeks and phone calls later, another appt. was made and someone came out demanding to inspect the fireplace. We do not have a fireplace and Dr. Sweep understood that several conversations previously. A couple of calls later, I spoke to someone who promised to do the job at 7:30am on December 10th (this was 6 full weeks and several calls after I paid for this service). Nobody showed up on the 10th. No less than three calls later, I am still struggling with this company to get a refund on my payment because the job was never done. I am personally surprised at the good ratings this company has received, because it was the total opposite experience for us.
Description of Work: On OCtober 19th I purchased a special offer from Dr. Sweep. For $149 you could get a new stainless steel chimney cap and inspection.

gutter cleaning
 + -1 moreAll they had to do was keep their appointment time and this could have probably been avoided. That way I could have seen the work being donr!
Description of Work: I had made an appointment with Dr sweep a couple of weeks earlier and they were scheduled to be at my home 11/28/11 between the hours of noon and 4pm. I left the house that morning around 7am and came home just after 9am. There was a message on my answering machine that stated they had already been to my home and cleaned the gutters. I immediately called the Dr Sweep office to ask what had happened. They told me they had no knowledge of anyone being at my home and asked if any paperwork had been left at my home, I told them no, she then checked for a few minutes and told me she would have to call me back. A couple of hours later I received a phone call from a man that told me that he cleaned my gutters and everything was fine. So I asked how he did that since all my gates were locked and he replied " that nothing stops them" so I told him if I went and checked my back gutters if I would find them clean? He said that I would, so I got out the ladder to check my back gutters and they were not clean! Which led me to question if any of my gutters are clean? Will not do business with these people again, Nick Puzzuoli PS. At least the cable company keeps their appointments or calls if they cant!

Gave us a clear debriefing on what he saw and what he recommended as a next inspection timing and specific services recommended (e.g. periodic gas log tuneup). Technician took extreme care not to get anything dirty.
Description of Work: Inspected chimney and fireplace from top (of a very difficult roof) to bottom, chimney cap, crown, mortar joints, flashing, flue liner, gas log set, smoke chamber, damper, firebox, hearth protection, spark screen and doors, Cleaned flue and firebox thoroughly.

 + -1 moreBEWARE!!! yes they call and confirm and arrived at the scheduled time BUT and I am not joking -they were here only 18 minutes--from the time they pulled in the driveway and left. we have a 2 story house--it was the day it was pouring rain outside and they still showed up. they really should have rescheduled the appt. so they did not rush the job. they did no clean up what so ever--I saw him throw about 5 clumps of dried leaves from the roof and he left them where they landed in the the yard. we have serious doubts that the job was done as advertised in such a short time. another reviewer said they were there for 45 minutes--well not here. really how good of job could have been done in 18 min. from start to finish?? they probably tried to get done as quickly as possible bc of the rain. even tho we received a discount rate from angies list we definitely do not feel we got our moneys worth!!!!!!!!!!!! we had planned on getting other services from them based on how todays experience went--but definitely will not now.

Dr. Sweep, a highly rated company on Angie's List, is offering a full house gutter cleaning up to 2,500 square feet for only $95!! Dr. Sweep removes all debris from your gutter also they have a one of a kind tool that blows out every downspout. After completion they clean up and haul away all debris. we did not receive hardly anything that was stated!! actually we feel ripped off!
