Dr Sweep

Purchased a Big Deal with Angie's List. The company contacted me to schedule the service. They came out and did the work in 1 hour and the service was great. He was very thorough.

Arranging for the Dr. Sweep gas log fireplace tune up was a breeze. The initial contact was handled in good fashion with a very friendly Dr. Sweep scheduler. Follow up was facilitated the day before the scheduled appointment and again as the technician was approximately 30 minutes from arrival. This kind of contact is an excellent customer friendly service. Upon arrival the technician placed shoe coverings over his shoes and proceeded to begin the tune up service as described above. Upon completion, he cleaned up and departed. During the tune up performance, the technician was friendly and answered questions I asked. I think it bears noting that this service was arranged as a special offer through Angie's list and at a reduced rate of $99.00 - a reduction of $100.00 off the normal rate of $199.00. I mention this as a means to express that anyone paying the full price of $199.00 if grossly over paying for this service - even the special rate of $99.00 might be a bit on the high side. The reason I checked that I would not use this service again and the grades assigned in the categories of Overall Experience, Price and Quality were B, C, and C is because after witnessing what was done, I feel I could easily do the gas log fireplace tune up myself.

The technician, Mr. Steele, arrived when he said he would. As the chimney was inspected, he described the different parts of the chimney and what exactly he looks for in each of the 26 points the is covered in the inspection. Sort of a 'Chimney 101' class, and very informative. The chimney was in pretty good shape, but I will need some maintenance on the top courses within a two years or so, but nothing immediate, so I can budget for it next year. I had them replace a Chimney Cap that had blown off years ago. Will definitely have Dr. Sweep do the work, and will also call them to quote the front porch re-do scheduled for next year.

Very helpful. Did not try to sell me things that I didn't need.

The company was prompt with getting a worker out to provide an estimate of services. The problem came with the date and execution of services. The worker was over a 1/2 hour late and the work that was completed was sloppy. The repairs to the porch steps have broken off. I would not use this company again or recommend that anyone else use them.

Thre representative was on time, friendly and efficient. He clean up after the dryer cleaning and was done pretty fast.

The scheduling process was fine with a few back and forths to get that done. Did a decent job on the gutters he got to but did not have any of his own hose equipment. The hoses I had out by chance only could reach about 3/4 of my gutters so I had to do the rest myself. Other then this issue, a good job.

guttters were cleaned and leaves were removed leaving no mess for me to clean up. well done.

The service tech was professional, on time and cleaner afterward.

They were on time, reasonably priced and did a great job. I would highly recommend them.

Chimney was cleaned; gas logs removed and reinserted and thorough explanation on efficiency of fireplace and they also found that the remote and battery receiver had the batteries exploded and recommended new box for batteries and to reset when box changed . Also advised for any problem to call. very knowledgeable about fireplace.

i thought the work performed was EXCELLENT and he was very helpfull on info and recommendations to better serve us would recommend them to any one and have done so . .

I guess I already did in the above report. As far as the service date goes, I do not remember the exact date the service was performed so that is why you see 1/11/2011.

We contacted the company in April. We told them that we wanted a detailed quote, with materials and labor quoted separately, as we knew we couldn't afford everything we wanted done. The quote came with everything under one price. We also had an Angie's List coupon that we paid $99 for a couple of hours of labor. We wanted to be certain they didn't charge us those hours of labor, but they never broke down the quote, so we don't know. We finally got a quote for just the chimney and tuckpointing. We asked for a quote with the prices broken down and never got it. We also asked that they contact the city and get a permit. This was agreed upon. We paid them a deposit, and it was agreed that we would pay the remainder of the bill when the chimney passed city inspection. The problem was that they never got the permit as they agreed to do. When they finally got the permit in August and the chimney passed inspection, we paid them. However, we never got a broken down bill, so we don't know if they applied the Anglie's List coupon. I have to say that the quality of the work was beyond excellent. You can't tell that the chimney on this 60 year old house was replaced. However, their office and accounting staff leave much to be desired. I still don't know if I've wasted the $99 I paid to Angie's List.

I re-paid for a gutter cleaning special offered by this mercahnt in the fall of 2011. The weather turned cold and I elected to have the gutters cleaned in the spring. I had a very difficult time getting this merchant to call me back to set up a time to do the work. This part was very frustrating. However, the work was eventually scheduled, he arrived within the time window and the job was done to my satisfaction.

I scheduled the appointment via email, which was convenient. The tech that completed my service wore covers over his shoes and arrived on time. The reason I purchased the fireplace tune-up was because the glass on the fireplace was getting a black soot on it when the fireplace runs and I wanted to fixed this problem. The tech that came out told me that it would be another $120 service call to do that because all he is supposed to do is clean the logs. (not really what I would expect from a $120 "Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up PLUS 26-Point Fireplace Inspection") Someone from their office called me to see if I wanted to schedule the additional service on the fireplace and at that time I took the opportunity to let them know I was disappointed in the lever of service on the initial service, she she she would pass my information on the the owner who would call me. A few days later when the owner did call he started told me that they just brush off the surfaces and that it may not remove all off the soot. I explained that this did not happen and he offered to send someone else out to check the job. The problem with this is that they don't have specific times, they have 4 hour windows for when someone will show up. The owner also offered to get me $65 off a future service. Based on the misrepresentation of the 1st service, I'm not interested in having the company perform a 2nd service. I inquired about apply this $65 to this service, the owner declined stating that he doesn't even know if there is a problem. It is not worth the $119 for me to deal with this issue... I feel like this was a complete waste of time and money...You live and your learn. :)

Perfect start to finish. I'm waiting for this year's special to do it all again!
