Dr Sweep

The serviceman for this company was very professional and friendly. He knew exactly what needed to be done. I live in a condo with a main floor laundry. The venting leads downstairs in the basement and exits the structure at the opposite end which means there is a very long aluminum duct which curves at three places. The work was done within a half hour and done well. It was obvious that my dryer vent was in need of cleaning because of all the debris that was brushed out. I was very pleased with the job and would recommend this company to anyone needing dryer vent cleaning.

They came when they said they would, were very thorough and explained all issues they found. Dr Sweep was very prompt to come back and fix the issues they found, so we had a working chimney within a week

Dr Sweep were fine. Nothing stood out being good or bad when I called them, they were just fine.

They did everything quickly and efficiently. They cleaned everything and there was no soot anywhere.

Previously had them clean out and fix our gas log fireplace, which went very well. However, initially I was told that they were too busy to schedule right after we had purchased the coupon and to call back again in a few weeks. I did, and then someone had to actually come and check out the house first. We were later told that they could not perform the roof cleaning as described in the deal because the pitch of our roof was too steep, and that it would cost extra. It was also getting too late in the season to do it as the weather was turning cold. They said that they could come back out and give a free estimate for how much extra it would be to clean the roof if we were still interested. I gave permismission for them to provide this estimate, and to clean our roof would cost an extra $2,000! Needless to say, we declined the service and called Angie's List to get our Big Deal money refunded, which they promptly did. Nowhere in the "fine print" of the deal did it specify that differently sloped roofs would cost extra. Not that we were aware before purchasing a deal about the pitch of our roof. Thank you Angie's List for being very willing to refund our money! We have had other success with Big Deals and with Mr. Sweep, but not this time.

I used Dr. Sweep, they did a fine job, but it was nothing, I wasn't impressed with anything they did. I thought they were going to clean the logs off and they didn't. He said he can't can't clean off the ceramic logs or whatever. And there was stain on the back of the fireplace that I wanted to try to get off and he said he couldn't do that. And maybe they couldn't but it wasn't was I expected. They basically took everything out of the fireplace, wiped it down and put everything back. It was just like a maintenance thing. I thought he was going to clean the logs and the stain on the wall from the fire, but he said it doesn't come out. So I don't know if that's true of not. I would not use them again.

I was so happy to see Angie's List offering a Big Deal for gas log fireplace tune up. You just cannot beat the price. My appointment was scheduled for Tuesday April 16 between 1-4 pm. I hate this cause you have to sit all day waiting. But around noon I got a call from this service guy stating he was in the area and could come early. Boy was I happy. So in comes Steve Moore with all of his wares to clean and tune up my fireplace. He took out my old outdated logs, cleaned them, sprayed them, and set them aside. He took out all the old rocks and sand and added new. I was so impressed at how he took time and was very thorough with the job. Steve showed me the gas line to the fireplace in the basement and how to turn it on and off. Finally after vaccuming the area he cleaned the grate put it back and replaced the logs. Now the fire place is going full blast and looking good. Steve took time to show me how to open and close the damper for my own protection. He also put the directions in writing. My chimney was also inspected at this time. After Steve finished he took out rags and cleaner and wiped down the tiles around the fireplace. WOW!! I thought I would have to do this. I was imprerssed. I found this worker Steve Moore to be courteous, efficient, and responsible. Thank you Dr. Sweep for such a good worker. Sincerely, DeEtta Moss

My home's square footage exceeded the size covered by the coupon, but the cost difference was reasonable. I had some trouble getting the Dr Sweep office to contact me, but that was because Angie was giving them an old out-of-date phone number. The work was complete when scheduled, and the workers used appropriate safety harnesses when on the roof. Their rate was better than what my handyman used to charge, and they put my safety concerns to rest. I will happily use them again this year.

I'm so pleased to have a working gas fireplace, and it looks beautiful due to the little extras the serviceman did. He was persistent with the gas line, which probably hadn't been lit for about 10 years or so. He made recommendations for improvement which I will pursue with Mr. Sweep in the future when they are needed. He offered me information about the likely origin of the fireplace based on his observations of the masonry - history on the house I would not have otherwise known. Great!

Much confusion around scheduling. When rep finally came on-site, was not able to clean the gutters as did not bring ladders tall enough for a two-story house. That should have been standard practice. Now we have one gutter which was cleaned and is now leaking. As far as the chimeny sweep, not sure any work was completed other than to vaccuum the firebox.

The workman was very polite and informative.

The company employee arrived, got right to work and was done in less than an hour. The work was excellent and we went through the winter without the gutter back up ice jams we had experienced in the past. We are definitely satisfied customers.

In calling to schedule the appointment the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I was able to schedule the appointment at a time that was convenient for me. They called and reminded me of the upcoming appointment and the employee arrived right on time. He was pleasant and went beyond what was required. In performing the job he didn't make a mess and left it cleaner than when he arrived. I would highly recommend Dr.Sweep and will use them for any other related needs in the future.

They did what they said, but I thought it would have also included actual creosote removal which they wanted to sell as a separate package, which I declined. I honestly also didn't care for the professional appearance of one of the two workers who came into my house. He was all full of tattoes all over his body, and though he tried to interact with me in a professional manner, it must have been his idea of what professionalism was like because it rubbed me the wrong way. In fairness they did point out some damage to the refraction panels which they said would need to be replaced. They quoted me a high amount for that service, more than I would have expected. I asked if there were alternative and less expensive ways of dealing with the problem and he flatly said no. Maybe that's so, but maybe it's not--how am I to know? Because I judged him to be less than professional based on his appearance and his interactive manner, I can't say I trusted his word. That reinforced my impression that they were just trying to upsell me. I want a second opinion.

Ray was very professional and provided an expert assessment of the condition of my fireplace and chimney. In addition to the cleaning, he provided a quote for repair work, which I found was competitive.

Dr. Sweep did very well. He was able to answer the questions that I asked.

After a few weeks, however, our fireplace stopped working. I called Dr. Sweep and explained what happened and set up an appointment for a technician to come back out. We were able to get a Saturday appointment very quickly. Again. The technician (a different one) was on time, personable, and professional. He double checked what the previous technician had done and verified that the fireplace was well cleaned. We didn't need an igniter, but a new thermocoupler. He installed it quickly and explained everything he was doing. He was also able to give us a quote on installing a fan, but not pushy.

I've lived in my house for more than 10-years and have never gotten my dryer vents cleaned (yep, true fire hazard) so I decided to take advantage of the coupon offered by Dr. Sweep. I didn't even have to pick up the phone to make appointment as I was promptly contacted by their very courteous staff (a great first impression) not more than a day later. The day of my appointment, I had written down the time block wrong (9a-1pm instead of 1p-5p) and when I contacted their office, I was once again pleasantly surprised by excellent customer service and they quickly set about reworking the schedule for later in the day. I expected the technician to be irritable due to the last minute schedule change but that wasn't the case. Dean (I think) had such a great attitude and clearly enjoys his job as he took a good deal of time assessing the vent situation as well as climbing on the roof to identify if uncapped chimney was actually being used for other vent purposes (it wasn't) and providing me with options for capping (very reasonable pricing). My vent cleaning was definitely not a simple task (remember, 10-years of built up lint = blockages in vent bends, etc.), however, Dean took the time to ensure the job was done properly. Clean as a whistle. A very good experience from start to finish. I will be using Dr. Sweep again for chimney cap and most likely conversion of wood burning fireplace to gas.

The workman was right on time, very professional and charged me exactly what he said he would when I called. Absolutely would use him again!

The fireplace is about 8 years old and I recently purchased the home. Some of the wool was gone and the flame in front was just a blue flame from the pipe. Dr. Sweep sent a conscientious employee out to clean the fireplace. He did a thorough job and even went to the roof to check the chimney cap for any deterioration. I was pleased with the additional wool and vermiculite he added to make the flame look better.

Job completed professionally, the technician was on time, knowledge, left no mess and answered all our questions. Would definitely recommend and use again!

Workers arrived at my home at specified time to clean gutters. They showed up with no hose and had to go to Home Depot to buy one. They cleaned the gutters, but couldn't get one of the plugged downspouts open. They said they would come back out with a pressure washer to blow out the blockage. After two or three weeks, I called the company back to tell them they need to come back out to open the downspout. They came out within a few days of the call and got it open. The workers were courteous, and all the work ultimately got done, but if they would have come prepared with a hose and the pressure washer in the first place, the overall experience with the company would have been much better.
