I have scheduled 2 appointments, they cancelled on both of them. I am really disappointed in this. I waited a week before i attempted to contact them, as they had never attempted to contact me.

We did have contact with the customer. And they chose to re schedule due to the schedule wait. So there fore they requested a refund, and said would be calling back if couldn't get any other company out to service their unit. We apologize for the schedule wait.

It looks like they did what they were suppose to do, they cleaned the gutters, I didn't have any issue with them and they came on time. They came out within a few weeks of us purchasing the deal. There was a little residue after they left but I had no problem with it.

This was also repaired & new chimney caps were placed on both chimneys. Connor is an exceptional young man & we would hire him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Connor from Dr. Sweep arrived promptly. He was very professional & knowledgeable & proceeded to clean our fireplace chimney. We had been having problems with our flue & needed repairs on the exterior of the chimney itself. Not only did he find & repair these problems but discovered a hole in the fireplace where the birds had been nesting.

This company has 4-hour time windows, that you have to sit around for, which is far longer than other companies out there. Not even Comcast has 4 hour windows anymore. So I waited for nearly 3 hours at my new empty house with my toddler, only to have them call (3 HOURS INTO THE TIMEFRAME) and say that the technician called in sick. Upon further discussion, it turns out that the technician did not call in sick, but just didn't show up and they didn't find out about it until almost noon. How a company can be so irresponsible as to not know that their technicians are not actually out working for hours is beyond me. The people that called were rude about the entire thing, as though my wasting 3 hours for the sole purpose of having the inspection done was no big deal and I should be perfectly happy to reschedule and role the dice again that they will bother to give me a call if no one's coming, let alone actually show up and do the work. This review will note that it refers to a situation in which work was not performed. But that's the problem. They don't bother to show up (see other reviews) and what's more, they don't bother to call and let you know. There's too many other companies out there that will be happy to get your business and will have the courtesy to call right away if they encounter some sort of problem. Why give your money to a company that would let a customer wait around 3 hours before even having the courtesy to call? Why give your money to a company that have technicians so irresponsible that they don't even bother to call in to work when they are sick? Why give your money to a company that is so disconnected from their technicians that they don't know they aren't working for hours? It begs a question about the relationship between the company and their techs... have they vetted these people that are coming to your home? They don't seem to have any accountability to the company, so it certainly gives me pause. Why give your money to a company that doesn't care about the inconvenience its poor operational practices cause paying customers?

In the process, he discovered my 35 year old gas hardware (hadn't been used in 10 or more years) had a slight leak and was no longer in accord with modern building codes. I inquired as to what would be needed to make the installation safe and to code. He talked me through the process and gave me a quote. After contacting other gas log dealers, I discovered the Dr. Sweep quote was very competitive. I called and asked the tech to return and upgrade my installation. The catch was, I needed it in just a few days so all would be ready when my daughter and her family arrived from out of town. The tech and the company went out of their way to make it happen and all was ready as requested.
Description of Work: The Mr. Clean tech first cleaned and reset my gas log fireplace.

Check gas line, cleaned inside of fireplace, replaced stuff on bottom, checked to make sure everything was working and put logs back in place and started up fireplace. Ray Babel arrived on 11/13/13 between 9 and 1 as promised. He explained condition of chimney and possible items to repair and replace. He had to also do work on the chimney flue so return on 12/06/13 was limited to let sealing of flue harden. Due to his schedule on Saturday 12/07/13 with prior chimney work he scheduled with us to do work on Sunday 12/08/13. I assume working on a Sunday is not something normally done. We greatly appreciated his going above and beyond to finish the job. We now have a working damper that seals properly and leaves the cold out and the heat in. I feel we received superior workmanship and would call Dr. Sweep again for any possible chimney work needed.
Description of Work: 11/13/13: Ray Babel of Dr. Sweep performed cleaning plus 26 point inspection per voucher #913868. Suggested work to be done icebreaker damper stainless installed and replace cement wash cap with 120 pounds of cement. 12/08/13: Ray Babel replaced damper with 100 percent stainless steel damper with lifetime warranty. Cement wash cap installed.

Initially I was told that I would be contacted within 2 business days but that turned into weeks. Finally I contacted Angie's List because I had already been charged for the service and had not heard from the company. As it was, because of the deal they were swamped! A simple email explaining this would have eased my mind. A date of service was set up but it could not be performed because my flue was all rusted out. The remedy was a new chimney cap with the flue at the top of the chimney for $350 which could be installed two days later. I agreed to that and the service was then done in a timely fashion. After the fact, I checked out rates for this and the price was comparable. I was also pleased to hear that the masonry work was sound and that there was no build up in the chimn

I contacted the company to set up the appointment and the dispatcher told me that if I had a fireplace insert it would cost $20 more than I had already paid because they would have to pull the insert in order to sweep the chimney. I thought that sounded odd, but I agreed to pay the extra money. When the guy showed up he took one look at it and said you have an insert. When I told him that I already informed the dispatcher about the insert, he told me that an insert requires two guys and an insert puller -- a sort of small forklift on wheels. He said he could not do it and left. So I called the company back and told the dispatcher what had happened. She set a new appointment and told me that it would cost me $80 more because of the insert, the two guys and the puller. I said that is more than twice the amount I had originally agreed to pay. She transferred me to a supervisor who agreed to reduce the extra charge to $40 because of the original mixup by the company and the time I had spent on that first appointment. So Tony shows up for the second appointment with a puller, but no second guy. When I asked him, he said he could do it himself. When I asked him how he would do it, from the bottom and inside, I asked him why he had to pull out the insert when the stainless steel chimney liner was directly accessible from inside the insert. He said, show me so I opened up the insert and slid out the top baffle, and there was the straight connection to the chimney liner. Tony got out his brush, fiberglass extensions and a big shop vac and proceeded to sweep the chimney. It took him about 30 minutes. When he finished up and had me sign the receipt, he asked me about the $40 up charge, and I told him to just write on the receipt that he had not needed to pull the insert, so there was no extra insert charge. Tony did a great job, but I thought the dispatchers left a lot to be desired. Also they wasted a day for me with the botched up first appointment. I also was surprised that I had to explain how it was possible to sweep a chimney through an insert without going to all the extra work and expense of pulling the insert out of the fireplace. In the future, I will just do it myself. It is an easy job.

Had a fireplace repair that no one could/would do. Five contractors said, "I need to pull it out and replace it." (for thousands of $$). Dean came over and said, "Why are you replacing it, I can fix that." It took a lot longer than we thought but he did the job that no one could do. After the repair we had a problem. Not only did Dean come out to survey the issue, John White said the repair would be free "B/c I want your business." Now that is customer service like no where else!

First appointment NO SHOW, his car broke down, 2nd appointment tech showed up and said he was not qualified to do the work and would send a more qualified tech. 3 unreturned calls later and another week, they said tech never rescheduled and they could get back to us in the new year. I want my money back nothing was done but waste my time.

I called the provider the following day to find out why they did not show up. The person who answered the phone said that she was aware that they did not show up. She said that the weather did not permit the gutters to be cleaned on that day .(The weather was okay.) I asked why they did not call to inform me about not coming. She could not give me an answer.
Description of Work: The provider did not show up. When I called to set up a date and time for gutter cleaning, they said that they would call a day before the scheduled service to comfirm the visit. They called the day before the scheduled visit and gave me their arrival time. I waited from 1:00-5:00 as directed, but they never showed up.

There were no additional costs with the Big Deal. The guy who came out was clean and did a good job. He was here for a little over an hour. It took a little bit to get him here because apparently they had a good response from the Big Deak. They sent the confirmation email, but it took over a week for them to even get in contact with me. He recommended a mason to us for additional work he couldn’t do, but someone else in the company can do.

i bought the "big deal" for whole house gutter cleaning by dr. sweep nov 13. it stated i was to be contacted by provider within 48 hrs to schedule. 3 days later angies list sent a prompt asking if i had been contacted and i replied no..i then received anempty email from dr. sweep so i replied that it was empty and then received an email requesting i call them! so i called and scheduled?they were very confused on the phone, couldn't find my order, thought i was getting my chimney cleaned, etc? finally she found it and we scheduled cleaning for nov 21. i had given them my cell phone number as my home phone line often doesn't work. they didn't show, i called the next day and they were "surprised" he didn't show. they wondered if anyone called me,,,no they did not..i later found a message on my home phone (that doesn't ring) that confirmed the appointment for the 21st but no cancellation. she clearly was distraught trying to figure out how to reschedule but finally came up with dec 4th. well, needless to say, again, no show! i just spoke with them and they said it was too cold last week and they are behind. they had such an overwhelming response to this "big deal" that they are having trouble. getting them all done. I said well apparently you took in more business than you could handle which isn't very professional.. I'm wondering if they all went hunting as well! so now, it's too cold and forecasted to be too cold for the next week at least. so, i am very unhappy that my gutters will remain full over the winter and could cause some damage to my house when the spring melt occurs. i will not use this company again. if they happen to get here and get the job done prior to spring, i will re-review but for now, this is how i feel!
