I had an incredibly disappointing experience with City Plumbing and HVAC. They charged us $600 and did virtually nothing to address our boiler issue. Despite having photos, videos, and opinions from two other plumbers confirming the leak, the tech refused to act because the leak wasn’t happening at that moment. Instead, they wasted time changing a valve unnecessarily, racking up pointless charges while offering no diagnosis, peace of mind, or actionable next steps. Now, we’re spending $24,000 to replace our boiler with a different company solely because of this experience. City Plumbing’s lack of professionalism and transparency was a slap in the face. I’ll actively discourage anyone from using their services, even for something as simple as unclogging a toilet.

Great, good follow up. A little better clean up might be good feedback to the service person.

They were good. They were great. They were professional but they were a little expensive. They did a good job. They were pricey. That was the only thing. They do good work.

Called once and gave them information that I wanted 4 dielectric unions put in, 2 1/2' and 2 3/4' in readily accessible places to get a quote. They took the information and said they would call back. They did not call back so I called again and gave them the information again. They did not call back that time either.

There was water leaking in the basement over the holidays. We checked under the refrigerator and there was no water there. The ice maker was working and sounding fine. We turned off the water to the ice maker, so we could wait until after the holidays to call a plumber. My mother went to their store and asked them to come to the house. They came when they said they would and told her the leak was the drip pan, which we had checked already but now had a crack in it, and left to get a new one. When they returned with the drip pan they told her they thought there was a problem with the ice maker, and that it was now making an odd noise when it ran. and they just happened to have a new one in their truck. So they installed a new ice maker. After all this, the leak did stop, so they did fix something, but it is not clear what the initial problem was.

Plumbing was backed up. My elderly mother went to their office (she likes to go in person, instead of calling) and told them the problem. They sent 4 plumbers over! One worked inside, one checked outside as they worked, one went back of forth between the two (apparently they have no modern means of communication) and the 4th did nothing. Apparently they charged her for the cost of 4 plumbers per hour, which was ridiculous. They did clear the clog, but it appears that they over charge the elderly. This isn't the first time they have done this to my mother.

They came when scheduled, did a quality job and completed it in a timely fashion. The plumber also told us what to do to avoid the same problem in the future.

I called them around noon and I had a plumber within 15 minutes. He charged me 15 minutes of travel time because he claimed to have come from Bridgman. Why a Saint Joseph resident has to pay for a 15 minute commute for a Saint Joseph plumber to just step up to my front door makes no sense to me. He then proceeded to bill me by the hour for a full 15 minutes after he had left. He decreased some of the flow but then reported that I would need to replace the spigot in order to have the water all revert to the shower as it should during shower operation. He charged me a plumbing rate for the 15 minutes that he discussed the spigot and whether or not he'd be able to get a replacement since it was so old. So for a job that in actuality took about 20 minutes I was charged over an hour of time. 10 minutes after he left I began looking at the invoice and this was when I realized that he put 1:15 as his departure time when he had left at 1:00. So I called the office to report his fraudulent time reporting, to which they declared that they would only give me a credit toward future plumbing and/or purchases in the store. I then talked with the manager who reluctantly agreed to refund my 15 minutes charged, only to find out a week later that they were holding the check at the store for me to pickup. I then requested that they please mail it to me, and they deducted the cost of the stamp from the refund and issued another check. Needless to say, they don't need my business, clearly, by the gross fraudulent reporting and rudeness of the manager of the store! Oh I don't want to forget to mention that the plumber left black hand grab marks all over my white bathroom door and also the floor around the tub!

It did not go well. The equipment used to clear the drain got stuck in the drain. The technicians(s) were unable to find the location of the part they were using. Consequently they had to put holes in our walls both upstairs and downstairs to look for the rooter. After 6-7 hours, they did find the tool and remove it.
They did not think it was their responsibility to repair the drywall in our bathrooms since the holes were behind cabinets.
We wanted the repairs made so that we would not have to disclose the holes when we sold the house.
We met with the owner of City Plumbing and eventually came to an cost-sharing agreement with them and their Insurance Company. We also shared in the cost of repairs.

Just OK. I had called the week before to schedule service for the following Monday. On Monday, I did not receive a call nor did they show up to perform the services I requested. I called them and they had no record of my request, BUT did send someone out immediately to the residence. They performed the inspection of the furnace and air conditioning unit. The technician they sent was unable to install a return air AND was unable to provide a written estimate of what it would cost to install a return air on the second floor. THEN I got a call later in the day from a guy asking when I'd like them to come out.
