We are extremely happy with the services. We have two young children so the mess level is high. They came for the first clean and were extremely thorough. Our house was long overdue for a deep clean. They have come every two weeks since to clean the house and its been really nice having them. They always do a great job, Melissa is very good about communicating with us and our house has never looked better.
Description of Work: We hired Need A Hand for an initial clean and then bi-weekly house cleanings. They have now come three times and continue to do so.

I contacted Melissa for a 6 hour move-out cleaning of my 1100 sqft apartment in Ann Arbor. She managed to squeeze me in a week later. Melissa is an excellent communicator on the phone and in person. She also responds quickly to emails. Melissa and a coworker showed up on time and did an excellent job. They got the apartment squeaky clean within the allotted time. All surfaces were clean and shiny, mirrors were streak free, and they even took care of small details such as the tops of power outlets and switches.

I was very hesitant about hiring a housekeeper. We're not rich and we like our privacy, but with a preschooler, new baby, and returning to work, something had to give. I'd tried to contact a couple word-of-mouth "on-the-side" housekeepers, but they always flaked out on me. I also contemplated going with a big service, but I didn't like the standard packages--I don't mind vacuuming or making the beds, I just don't have time/interest in dusting or washing the tub. When I read the reviews for Need A Hand, it sounded just like what I was looking for--and so far, it has been. Melissa (the owner) arrived within 15 minutes of when she said she would for an estimate, and together we walked through the house while I pointed out in each room what I did and didn't want cleaned. Our first clean was a deep clean--pretty much top to bottom--and I came back to find things not just cleaned, but tidied. [As an example, they had rehung a knick-knack that had fallen off the kitchen wall that I just didn't take the 2 minutes to do myself.] Melissa contacted me that same night to see if I had any feedback. I let her know that they did more than what I was expecting (or thought I wanted for the future) but also did miss a couple things--dusting a short run of baseboard in a bedroom; the piano, a lamp; but accomplished in 8-woman-hours what would have taken me a couple days, and did a better job than I'd have done myself. Melissa offered to send them back the next day to catch what they had missed, but I just asked that they do it next time, and they did. The second cleaning was a "normal" cleaning--just doing the things on the list--and they ticked off most everything. Again, I exchanged emails with Melissa to point out one more thing that I think hadn't been caught and she was very accommodating. I like that I have the same person cleaning my house each time, so they know what things are and are not important to me. I also appreciate, though, that I can communicate with the housekeeper through Melissa--she can have any awkward conversations (which isn't something I'd get with a one-person operation). In contrast to bigger services, though, I like that Need A Hand can tailor their services to meet my needs, and can help me with organizing, etc. as the need arises.
Description of Work: 2 hours of housecleaning, but according to my needs: washing kitchen floors, scrubbing the bathtub, and dusting everything else in the house.

Melissa rocks! I have been looking for someone to help with cleaning and cooking because I am super busy at work and just beat when I come home. I didn't want to go with a big company/chain. I'd rather support local businesses and feel like I know the person who is coming to my house when I am not there. I want to know that they are invested and care about doing a good job. I really lucked out with Melissa. She is professional, responds quickly, is fair and straightforward, follows through, and the work is top notch! I am so happy! Today I came home to the delicious smell of chicken curry bubbling in the crock pot. Salad in fridge. Friday's meal all prepped and ready to go. House sparkling clean. I was so relieved I wanted to cry! She is an angel. Really adding value to my life. Can't recommend highly enough.

Melissa responded quickly to my request for cleaning and organizing services. Despite her full schedule during the peak holiday period, Melissa arranged to fit in service for my home. Her speedy response and excellent work enabled me to entertain even though I'm recovering from fractured bones in my hand. Melissa consulted with me about my priorities, which included folding and putting away a huge pile of clean laundry, changing bed linens, cleaning my kitchen and bathrooms, dusting, and generally tidying several rooms to make the house presentable for guests. Melissa and her crew member, Mary, were thorough, detailed, and careful in their work. They did an excellent job in all respects; everything they cleaned just sparkles. They are client-oriented professionals with the ability and flexibility to do whatever needs to be done. I really enjoyed working with Melissa and Mary and look forward to engaging them again soon.

Wow....How lucky I feel to have found Need a Hand on Angie's List. I had some cracks filled in the garage and everything in the garage was covered with cement dust including furniture I planned to donate. I called Melissa and left my phone number. She returned my call. I explained what had to be done. She gave me her hourly rate for that kind of work. She arrived on time and went beyond just removing the dust. She was great at organizing and setting priorities...(Thanks to Melissa I'll be able to get my car in the garage this winter.) She never stopped working and was pleasant and fun to work with....Will I hire her again? Absolutely! Will I tell friends about her wonderful attitude and service? You bet I will!

It went very well. Melissa and her crew of one arrived on time. They were thorough and paid attention to my particular concerns. They did a thorough cleaning and it was worth her price. Melissa is a consummate progressional and is very dependable. I trust her and her crew completely and was very comfortable leaving her alone in my apartment.
