Dave was referred to us. He did some general improvements for us on July 23 and we paid him. All the tasks he had agreed to do we’re not completed and Dave told us when he left that he would get back to us in the next week to schedule a time to get back with us. After weeks of hearing nothing, I sent him a text on August 31 asking if we were still on his radar. I received no response. I called Dave on September 12 and was assured we were still on his list and I would hear from him the in the next week to schedule. Again, hearing nothing, I text him once again on September 20, again asking where we stood. To date I have heard nothing from him. I have to question his integrity and honesty. Too bad because we really liked Dave.

Dave was great to work with, did good work and was very competitively priced. The job took a couple weeks to complete, which worked well for us and in my book was impressive since he was a one man operation. He even lended a hand to correct some issues previous contractors had done incorrectly. I’d bring him back over without hesitation.

I have hired Dave many times For various jobs, and will continue to use him. We have never been unhappy with anything.

All went well each time from construction work to a plumbing job. Perfection!!!!

He did plumbing this time and previously he hung doors and mirror.

We use him periodically. When we can't do something, he comes out and does it. He has installed new doors, he hung mirrors, he hung lighting fixtures, he does it all. The cost was so minimal. I will continue to use him.

Expected more professionalism and courteousness from an Angie's List contractor. Very disappointed as the experience was a complete waste of time. They obviously take jobs that suit their schedule and pocketbook, with complete disregard to anyone else. I contacted JAD for an estimate and they scheduled me on Saturday around 4pm. On Saturday morning, they call to state they would have to move my appointment to "sometime after 6 pm." I rearrange my schedule to accommodate. At 6:15 pm, I call JAD to make sure they are indeed coming out, and I get an answering machine. I leave a message for a return call but receive no communication. Later, I see they had sent an email message after 6 pm stating "We apologize. We have just learned we have had a death in the family and will not be able to make our appointment this evening. We are unable to re-schedule at this time as this will put us too far out with our work ahead. We wish you the best of luck with your project. Best Regards ~ J.A.D. Home Improvements, LLC." I don't believe they had a "death in the family." The timing didn't suit their schedule and the job was not big enough to care about or even reschedule. You should not have booked the appointment in the first place if your schedule was so overbooked. And the lack of a quick courtesy phone call to cancel says a lot about your professionalism and your true regard for customers. I would not recommend and will tell my customers and friends to avoid.

Wonderful. Movers were coming to move a huge refrigeration unit from the basement. It would not fit through the basement door. JAD Improvements tore out the sill the night before the move and put in place a temporary structure to keep the critters out of the house. The next evening he came back, as promised and rebuilt the sill. His pricing was reasonable and he was both pleasant and professional.

I accepted their quote and then I heard nothing for, like, a week. I sent an email -- I heard nothing. I think they went out of town -- I heard noting. Finally about three weeks passed and I called again and I got the contractor's wife. She said he was sick and I never heard from them again. So, extremely unhappy with them. I finally gave up on them. I don't remember the exact amount, but I want to say the quote was for about $1,000, in that neighborhood. It was handyman work. That's what I was looking for -- a handyman. I have to tell you that when he came out to give me my quote I was impressed. He was extremely knowledgeable because I had such a hodgepodge of things and I thought I might find somebody that could do the plumbing piece but not the electrical or somebody that could do the baseboards but not the plumbing. That kind of thing. He could do everything and I was very happy. I thought I had found somebody to do this work. I thought his price was reasonable; it was kind of what I expected for the work and then it just fell apart. If she had called and said he had developed some illness that was going to take a long treatment or whatever I could have said I just wish him luck and what have you. I even told her when I talked to her that the bulk of the work that I had to do could have waited. It could have waited until, like, the end of the year. I was fine with that. I really wanted him to do my work because I had three other people come out and I either wasn't impressed with the person at all or their prices were off the charts. Their price was a little bit more than I thought, but not much. Their pricing was good for that kind of work. He was here exactly when he said he would be here. His professionalism -- the way he handled himself, his punctuality when he got here, he was friendly and introduced himself. He got right to the job of looking at my work to give me a quote, it was excellent. He was very professional. If he does have some serious illness then I can kind of understand where everything else would take a back seat.

He was awesome!! Very knowledgeable, honest, and knows what he's doing. We will definitely be using him again! Such a breath of fresh air after all the terrible experiences we've had with others.

From quote to completion of repairs, everything went smoothly. Dave handles all jobs with superior workmanship and attention to detail, ensuring everything was done correct. This was the second project we have hired JAD to peform, the first project was some plumbing and electrical during a bathroom remodel. JAD did a great job, the quality of the workmanship is excellent. During the demo and build phase he also kept a clean work area and made sure to clean up afterwards. I was comfortable leaving for the day while he performed the work and was wow'd how much was accomplished when I returned. Again he had cleaned up and locked up on his way out. The project extended a couple days only because he wanted to make sure his dry wall work was meticulous, and stopped early in the morning to check the patch work and make any touch ups. I can not recommend JAD enough and will continue to use them in the future. The quality and attention to detail they put into their work far surpasses some of the larger companies I have worked with.

I was very pleased. Dave was very punctual and very professional. I really liked how he cleans up after the job too! I would hire him again!

We had used them once before. We were fairly satisfied so called a second time. Dave came out, looked at the new work and said it would be a couple of weeks before he would be available. Waited three weeks and called back, spoke to daves wife. Waited 10 days called back. Spoke to Daves wife again. Waited 5 days and my wife called back thinking she would have better luck. No call back. 5 strikes and you're out. It you want someone responsive, call someone else.

There were numerous emails back and forth as contact was good until there was a no show, for our appointment. We waited on a Saturday for them for quite sometime and then emailed them through Angie's list to ask what happened. They stated that they had an emergency that morning, and couldn't make it, and asked if they could just swing by and do the quote on there own time and that we wouldn't need to be home. We were ok with that and understood, then responded asking if we could have a quote and job done in the next 2 weeks, which we thought was plenty of time. It is a very small job, no more than a half day to one day maximum. They responded and said they couldn't get to it for at least 4-6 weeks and wouldn't be doing the job. We are just frustrated with the amount of time wasted and now we are back where we started. We thought this site is supposed to help prevent this, but I guess nothing is perfect.

The job went good overall. I was happy. I will use him again. He is reasonable.

Overall, we paid a very reasonable amount and they are very nice people. That said, there were portions of the job that were not completed. I would caution that there was a lot of effort that went into getting the work to the point it reached. Email responses generally took a couple of days (I haven't gotten a response to 3 emails about unfinished work). They only work with 2 people so when they get busy there isn't structure to ensure everything is being attended to. The work that was completed was not a high quality finish. Doors installed don't close properly, areas that were caulked have to be taken down and completely re done. Again, the price was very reasonable. Getting in touch and getting guaranteed arrival times was not possible. Often, we would get a couple hours a day if we were lucky of consistent work. The job itself would have taken 3 days of consistent work but it was stretched out over roughly a month. I'm positive that he underbid the job but it doesn't mean that you should short cut or not complete what was agreed. The rooms that had work do look better but making a "D" a "B" isn't difficult. I would attach photos but I'm over the situation. We have hired a new person to complete what is left. Good Luck

I wanted some small jobs doing and I was called right back after I Ieft a message to say they couldn't meet my timescale but please call them in a few weeks. I think that is a good sign of their professionalism. Other firms have not returned calls or failed to turn up for appointments. I will keep their number for next time.

Excellent workmanship, very professional and maintains a very positive work ethic throughout the project. Is capable of doing any project that is needed without hesitation and cleans up after hes done. Very pleasant to talk too and is not afraid of hard work. The eleven doors weighed over 75 pounds each and he carried them up and down a flight of stairs with no problem. His experience in the trades obviously has allowed him the ability to excel as a handyman. I will certainly use his services in the future and recommend him to anyone looking for home improvements.

He was very helpful and did good work. His prices are very reasonable and there were no issues with scheduling. The one person that came out was very professional and I'd recommend him.

Phoned on 9/15 and explained what I need done first. Appointment set for 18. Received call earlier on 9/18 saying person was ill but would get with me over the weekend (9/20 or 9/21). Today is 9/24 and have heard nothing more. This is typical. And it's too bad because I have many needs. Had the company responded responsibly it could have been a profitable association, a win-win for both of us, but now they will not be considered for further work. Failure to follow up with prospective clients is totally irresponsible, and rude.

Dave did a great job. Got the work done promptly. And the price was very competitive.

After a couple of rescheduled (called well ahead of time) JAD came out and looked at my deck. He told me what needed to be done which made a lot of sense. After a couple of days I got a call from his wife letting me know that they were declining the job as it was too big for him alone. I appreciated his honesty. I asked him what a fair proce for the work would be, which he did provide.

David patched the hole in the family room ceiling. After the drywall mud was applied, the final surface is relatively smooth, but close inspection suggests that further sanding will be necessary before the patch can be painted. I am not happy with the patching job in the bathroom. David left the mounting hardware in the wall (even though the hardware was very loose and about to fall out anyway). He simply mudded over the hardware, so instead of a flat smooth surface there is a big bump over the mounting hardware. Also the mud job itself is not very smooth - additional filling and sanding will be needed before it can be painted. I discovered this when I was getting ready to touch up the wall paint, and had to stop because the wall was far from being left as a paintable surface. We may be partly responsible for the result for not setting expectations with David before he went to work. I guess we expected based on our previous experiences with dry wallers that the wall would be left flat, smooth, sanded and ready to be primed and painted. As it is, a painter will need to do additional work on the ceiling, and at least partially redo the wall repair, before the surfaces can be painted.
