+ 2 moreWindow Repair were very unprofessional and did not do the job right. I needed the indoor wood on my windows to be refinished. They did not use the correct materials for the job. The job was done very poorly! I ended up speaking with the owner. He was irate with me and treated me like I was ignorant. He refused to stand by his work. I was extremely upset with the whole experience.

Description of Work: I called Independent for an estimate on my window sills on Wednesday and was given an appointment for the next day, Thursday, between 4:00-6:00pm. It was getting near 6:00pm and I did not hear from independent so I thought I would check my voice mail (since it was rainy and I expected traffice delays). A message was left from Independent stating that the estimator cancelled the appointment because it was raining. That was the only explanation I received. I'm still trying to figure out what the rain outside has to do with my window sills inside. I would have appreciated more of an explanation to give the company the benefit of the doubt. In addition, the message stated that if I wanted to reschedule the appointment that I would have to call back. I did not have any work performed so I don't know if the company does a good job or not. Guess I'll never know.

Description of Work: I had several windows on the second story that required replacement of wood brickmold, sills, weatherstripping related repairs. These windows were original installs ~19 years old and original wood components were rotted out and required replacement with PVC type replacements. These repairs are to provide good thermal protection for the next few years to pre-clude more expensive window replacement investments which would have costed substancially more. IWR is a good company and reliable. They honored the Angies list discount and actually came early when they had a cancellation in the area. I consider the price reasonable but on the high end of acceptable.

+ -1 morehired to replace rotted window sills.The idea on how they do it is great but the installation was real bad.I would not let them finish.I know they can do it right I think I must have got a trainee.
Description of Work: great at replacing windows that have bad seals, but not very good at replacing bad sills.They have a great idea but who ever replaced my sills did a very sloppy job.If anyone knows of a good company for repairing window sills I would like there number.

+ 0 moreOn March 31st, Vince estimated the repairs and cost. Vince said he would get back in a few days and the repair work would be performed in a week to 10 days. A week passed, no call from IWR. We called them. Talked to Vince, he said IWR would/could NOT do the repair. No explanation was given. We called more than once and asked why no repair. Office person didnot know answer. We asked to speak with the owner Matt Cipriano and was told he was out/unavailable. We asked that Matt or someone call and tell us why they were not going to perform repairs. We have not heard from Matt C., Vince or IWR.
Description of Work: Service/repair was NOT performed. We did receive a letter from Matt Cipriano stating he was pleased we chose IWR to do our repairs and stated: "After reviewing your estimate, I noticed your repair is what we specialize in and we would like to work for you." and was signed by Mr. Cipriano.

+ -1 moreIWR workers showed up as scheduled and got a lot of work completed in one day as planned (two workers). They did quality work and a good clean-up at the end of the day. This report actually covers two occasions, the first in Nov 2009 when the majority of the work was completed; in Sept 2010 we had them back for a couple new situations that developed. We've found it to be much more economical to go the window repair route with IWR than to replace complete window units. We had the job estimated by other companies for replacement windows and the cost was many times the IWR-repair route.
Description of Work: We had IWR replace several window frames and sills that were rotting out. They also replaced one window pane that was steaming up inside due to the vapor seal failing.

+ -1 moreI called their main line, spoke to Nicole she was extremely plesent, she set up the inital meeting for a quote. The sales rep came bid the two windows, the price seemed fair. I gave them a deposit to order the windows, they stated it would be a couple of weeks to get someone out. I received a call back withing the next couple of days to schedul the fix. They came and repaired as stated. the windows look fine they were repaired as stated.

+ -1 moreIT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. FROM THE ESTIMATE TO THE FINISH. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME 7:10 am and was done by 11:00 am. HOME WAS BUILT IN 2000. THIS WAS A SECOND JOB AND A SMALL ONE. THEY CAME PROMPTLY, ESTIMATED IT AND CAME BACK TO DO THE JOB VERY SHORTLY. HOWEVER THE NEXT DAY WE NOTICE THAT THE CAULKING HAD PULLED APART AND WE CALLED THEM --THEY CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY WITH A BIG SMILE AND RECAULKED. I REPAINTED THE AREA AND IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER. THERE WAS WATER DAMAGE AND WE DID CATCH IT IN TIME.

They should clean up after the installation; we were still picking up pieces of glass two months afterwords in the driveway and around the house. They company forgot to replace a window pane we had specifically requested be replaced! We complained, but they never came back out to replace the other window!!
