The first time out was a good visit, everything explained, contact time minimal. I had the back and front yards rolled due to the extreme lumps/bumps only to have it not all that less bumpy for which Brian told me would be re-rolled when the lawns were more pliable, "not a problem and it will be at no charge". I asked them to "remove" two stumps but what they did was grind the stumps across the top instead. As Brian told me and once the weather straightened out, they did come back without my calling them and re-rolled the yards.
Description of Work: lawn clean-up, tree stump removal front and back yards, diseased tree removal from front lawn, de-thatching the front & back lawns with a rake, lawn rolling the front and back lawns, different days for some of the jobs.

They performed a fall clean up without asking, of which I was billed. Also, they sent me an extra invoice over the winter for bills they said I did not pay. I looked at my records and called them back to inform them that I had indeed paid. They acknowledged the error on their side. Overall, they provide a good service but need to do a little better at bookkeeping.
Description of Work: I hired Woody's to mow my lawn every other week for the summer of 2012. They completed the yard work as expected and desired.

I called Woody's Lawn Service mid October to get an estimate on mowing my lawn and doing a fall cleanup. The initial contact was good and they responded promptly. I was told that mowing would cost $35 and that cleanup is $20/hour and indicated it would take about an hour. I agreed with the prices and indicated that I would like the service done that week. However, they day they said they would most likely be able to come out and do it, it was raining so I understood they would not be able to make it. However, nothing happened for about 2 weeks. I called a total of 10 times in that span and left 6 or so messages at the office and on the owners cell phone asking about when they would come out. Finally on the 29th, I left a message saying that if they did not contact before the end of that day, they should not do anything. I came home on November 1st to discover that my front lawn had been raked. I then checked my backyard which had not been done at all (the grass was tall so it was naturally difficult to clear, however I managed to do it later with my own blower in a couple of hours). This was the same day as my fertillzing service so I assumed they had cleared the lawn in order to fertilze correctly. On the 20th of November I recieved an invoice from them indicating that total bill was $56 for Fall Cleanup. The invoice stated that 3 men worked .45 hours for a total of $56. When I spoke to the owner earlier it was not indicated that this was hourly per person. At that point I called the owner twice and left a message. I did not hear back. I called again 27th and again did not get a response. I finally called three times again today (29th) and finally got a pickup. The owner at that point clarified price and indicated that they recieved the message to not come and clean up after they had already done it. The invoice states they perfomred this work on the 30th, however I am certain it was done on the 1st since I remember coming home on my birthday that day and thinking "Great! I don't have to clean my lawn". He said the invoice was probably a typo but the total is still $56. Ultimately I would be fine paying the $56 dollar had they cleared my entire lawn. Instead the ONLY did the front half which somehow took three men an hour (not a big plot), they didn't mow the lawn, and they disregarded by phone calls and messages. I no longer wanted their services, yet I am now forced to pay for shoddy work. AVOID this company at all costs. While it may have been foolish of me to assume only $20/hour, that was the quoted price and not per man. And at that price I recieved terrible service (and late service) and had the worst time getting anyone to answer my calls or call me back.
Description of Work: They raked the front half of my lawn.

Response from Woody's Lawn Service
First off I feel very upset that Mr. [member name removed] feels this way about us, However, I knew that this would be a difficult customer. Let me explain. He asked for a quote early and waited a couple weeks to call me, at this point there was much more debris and the lawn tripled in grass heigth. Although I didnt argue or negotiate the price. The most difficult thing was once he decided to use us I had told him we were busy and it would be the next day beacuse we would be in the area but if it rained it would be a one in a half to two weeks before we would be caught up again. I contacted Mr. [member name removed] 3 times but I feel he is upset because he called me on average three times a day and I only called him back a few times. But everytime I left a message explaining when we would be there. Also we did a cleanup starting in the back yard and thru the front. ( we always start in the back because it doesnt make since to due front then rake and tarp leaves from the back thru a clean front yard) we also mowed the yard so I'm not sure why he is contesting that we didnt. Maybe beacuse it was over 11 inches tall and we mowed it on the highest setting to avoid clumping and other problems?? So he either didnt notice or was upset that it was still tall. I admit lawn could have looked better but when customers ask me for an estimate over the phone I can only assume its been taken care of somewhat. But since last year I know personally go to each estimate to ensure I know what Im getting into. I'm also shocked at his comment about it being more money, I bid the job for 35 plus 20 and it was 56 so I guess I made a typo when I wrote 56 instead of 55 and I would have understood had he called me saying that. However he was obviously upset beacuse I assured him that he didnt have to pay since he was unhappy but he said I would come after him legally (although my offer to not pay is legally binding as a verbal contract) and he told me to F off and hung up. I may have made mistakes that I learned from on this job but I wasnt the only unprofessinal one. My apologies and Ive made adjustments to not be in this same situation.
