Hit some timing snags. Sub-contractor timing was not always great, several days with no work performed. Some mistakes were made early on with plumbing that required re-work setting the project back almost a week. Bathroom was to be 3 weeks, fireplace was to be 1 week. Bathroom was about a week late, and fireplace ran a day over. Loved working with the APS crew. Rick the foreman, and his guys were easy to work with, very respectful, and delivered quality work. I can't say the same for some of their subs. Several times I came home to a house that was a complete mess. I expected the bedroom to be a disaster, and was prepared for the mess to be contained to that room. I was not prepared for the amount of dust, dirt, and debris throughout the rest of the house. This was largely in part the result of some inconsiderate subs following drywall and tile work. Rick was both understanding and apologetic and did what he could to make things right. As a result, they were replaced, and neither sub did any additional work for us, and every precaution was taken the rest of the project. Rick also had my carpet professionally cleaned to help with the dust/debris. Upon completion, there was some damage discovered to my hardwood, two deep scratches, in the middle of my living room. For now, it's concealed by our area rug. But that's only in place for my 1 year old son. Rick assured me he'd have this repaired by their floor guy when the area rug comes up, free of charge. I'm also waiting on a rack to be installed in my closet, but that's not something that needs to happen immediately. To sum things up- I really enjoyed working with Rick and his crew- unfortunately I can't say the same for all of their subs. And the work performed by all was great. Would recommend, and would use again, even with the timing and other issues.
Description of Work: 2 part project. 1) Brought two walls down in the master bath, and moved them each about 12-18 inches, making the bathroom bigger. As a result, moved plumbing as well. Completely gutted bathroom and remodeled from floor to ceiling. 2) Had a fireplace remodeled. Covered existing brick with drywall, and put a tile surround in around fireplace. Also had some carpentry work done to finish off the update of fireplace mantle/hearth.

We had called several contractors for estimates on the job. Roy was one of only a few who actually called back or bothered to show up. Roy offered us a lot of help with suggestions as to what would be a good design for the remodel, considering other than the bathroom we really did not know exactly what we wanted. Throughout the remodel Roy was always on top of calling me in the evening to let me know how things were progressing as well as what to expect. I never had any issues reaching Roy or anyone at the office. We added several changes and upgrades to the original design plan during the course of the job and I always felt that the prices were fair for the work performed. I had no issues leaving the crew in the house while we were at work. They alway made sure to clean up the area before they left for the day. Follow up after the job was complete was also appreciated. The few minor issues we had were quickly addressed.
Description of Work: Remodeled the basement including the addition of a full bathroom as well as installation of an egress window. Replaced and repainted the drywall in the garage.

Roy has done quite a bit of work for our policyholders, friends and family over the past few years. Everyone has been more than satisfied with their workmanship and responsiveness.
Description of Work: We are a large insurance agency in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor Michigan area. We became familiar with APS several years ago when they put a policyholder's house back together after a destructive home invasion. The work they did was excellent and timely. What impressed all of us here was that Roy communicated with us daily as to the progress of the repair. We had no idea who he was but were impressed with his professionalism.

Roy and his crew responded within 3 hours of my call for help! (Pretty good... his office is 40 miles away from my condo) The scene was chaotic, the washing machine upstairs flooded the two condos below it, mine and my neighbor. Water was pouring in! Before the APS workers left for the night they had the drywall off, electrical circuits shut off for safety and all the standing water removed. They made a lousy situation more tolerable. The next day they hooked up their drying machines and completely dried the wood beams and wall studs. Roy was out twice a day to measure and log the moisture level in the wood. After three days of dehumidifying the wet area it was dry enough to attach the new drywall. However, before doing so he had the local building and electrical inspectors out to sign off on his work. Special care and inspection was given to the previously wet electrical wiring to make sure everything was up to code and approved before sealing the wiring back up in the ceiling. I was impressed with Roy's attention to detail and our safety. The drywall, primer and paint were perfect! Better than the original workmanship. I would definitely use, and highly recommend, APS again.
Description of Work: Ceiling and walls were severely water damaged. Washing machine upstairs leaked and water damaged our condo below. APS Residential Services tore the water damaged ceiling and walls off and completely dried the enclosed area before attaching new drywall. They made sure that the entire area was completely dry before enclosing it in order to avoid future mold issues. The room looked better than new!

Dreamers was the subcontractor on a remodel of our house in 2013. When we wanted to add a deck to the house to compliment last year's work we contacted Dreamers to do the work. Roy came out and, using our design drawings, provided us with estimates using all wood and one using Trex decking. After weighing the pros and cons of all wood vs Trex, we opted for the maintenance free Trex decking. When you consider the cost of yearly maintenance with all wood decking, the increase in cost of the Trex is easily made up in time and money within a few years. Roy's crew scheduled the work and arrived on time. They worked quickly and neatly. The completed the work in 5 days (from post hole digging to having our first BBQ). Roy is great to work with. He offered his opinion and when we asked for some amenity that was not premade, he went over and above to custom make the item. We did not seek other bids from other companies, as we were thrilled with their 2013 work. I'm not sure if we could have gotten a lower bid from other companies, but you get what you pay for and we knew the product that they provided us on their prior job. We were thrilled with that and we are thrilled with our deck this year! Dreamers cleaned up and touched up the landscape when they were done so well that you'd think the deck had always been there rather than just built.
Description of Work: Dreamers, Inc. built a two level deck on the back of our house.
